Cutting the Cord - Orbital strike removed?

I played this mission today on a new character. Last time I played it, was a few months ago. Today, though, I noticed that the two locations to perform the Orbital Strike were missing. I haven't been able to find any news about them being removed.
Did I miss something, is this a bug, did Cryptic pull this thinking we wouldn't notice, what gives?

It was there when my Temporal Recruit did it in ... August?

The orbital strike points are definately missing. I played that mission just a few days ago myself.

The thing is, there are quite a few things in the Romulan segment of the storyline (for feds) that seem to be different but could simply be down to my own faulty human memory because its been such a long time since I did these missions.

That being said, I do know Cryptic does change things in the storyline missions and they don't do much announcing for it. I rarely read patch notes of course so they might mention it there. *Chuckle.* One such thing is when T'Nae started actually talking with an actual voice rather than it being simply all text like it was back when I last did it.

They botched the Azura mission too. Once, if you were a science captain, you could rescue all of the Azura's crew and they all looked uniquely different and had different medical problems your captain temporarily fixed. You saw them in all the cut scenes where you beamed them out, then yourself out and they were physically there when you transported into your transporter room at the end.

Now of course all the 'extra' crewmembers you save as a sci captain are identical and none of them show up during the final rescue cutscenes. Only the two crewmembers that you pick up in the Azura engine room from Captain Brott show up in the cutscenes.

Similarly they botched another early mission as well where B'Vat lures you to a 'secret' base and locks you inside and sets a self destruct even slower than Hakeev's one in "Mine Enemy." The fed Captain had to shoot the doors open to run back to a point where your crew could transport you aboard.

Now, B'Vat doesn't lock you in, yet his gloating 'victory speech' about luring you into a trap hasn't been changed. So um... what trap exactly? The whole mission no longer makes sense....

Oh wait we were talking about the missing orbital strikes bit in "Cutting the Cord." Lol, yeah, let's just say Cryptic has done a lot of editing missions and often most players have no idea about it until they play the mission again on a new toon.

Hmmm, actually were either of your characters Engineers? My TOS captain is. Maybe only Engineers get to do it since it's their skill.

Not in my case, the toon I did it with is a science captain.

I just did this mission yesterday on a rom-fed sci captain and both of the orbital strike positions were there.

I've done this mission four times in the last couple weeks, as Tac, Eng and Sci, and they've been there every time.

There has been a bit of an issue for me in the past where, if I killed the romulan group at the top of the stairs and moved too far whilst doing so, a dialogue would not happen and orbital strike positions would not appear. Run the mission again and remain on the stairs when the romulans beam in and kill them from that position and the dialogue appears and orbital stike positions are there. Don;t know if that is the issue for everyone but it's been pretty consistently what I've done when they haven't showed up.

Okay, since some folks were saying the points were still there, I ran the mission on a different captain (science, as my issue was on a science character), who'd already done the mission. I found that both points were exactly where they were supposed to be. I then replayed the mission on the captain I had issues with this morning, and lo-and-behold, both points were present. Conclusion: This morning's issue seemed to have just been a glitch.

Assuming that whatever glitch ailed me, also caused your issues, the location from where I shoot doesn't seem to be the trigger. I've played the mission probably over a hundred times (23 captains on my main account, 2 alt accounts, various replays and assists of other players, call me an addict if you must), and I generally just barge in and start shooting, never had the issue before. Just FYI. ;)

This is one reason why some bugs go unfixed for years -- if QA can't make the bug happen on command because it doesn't always happen and they can't find the magic recipe, all they can pass on to the developers is "it happens once in a blue moon."

Good luck fixing that one. You can run a debug / logging build ten times and it have it work properly every time.

Well, I just did the Nimbus mission where you cut the satellite cables.... the sections you're supposed to cut didn't glow at all. I had to trace the cable until I got interacts to find them. So it might be that sort of bug. IE display error.

Yeah, the cables in Gorn Canyon were like that last time I did that mission, too. Those are easy to work around, though, it's always in the middle section, and it's always a lone arc that comes up out of the ground. They pretty much ask you to cut them.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

I've done that mission 6 times since August, and I've never had the cables in Gorn valley glow. You can tell the spots by your cursor changing though

A myriad of these small "details" are still broken since AoY came out. Interaction objects not "glowing", animations not playing etc. Ever since AoY so much old stuff broke - maybe they fix it with the visual updates rolling out tommorow.

That bug is even worse on the console version as it happens very frequently. Anyway, I never saw the orbital strikes in the console version of the mission, and I did look for them in the usual spots. I think I found one, but it wasn't glowing.

I did the mission twice a few weeks ago before I took a break from the game and neither spot was there. I know where they're supposed to be, but all that was there was nothing. No image, no interact, nothing. So I just shrugged and finished the mission.
Now a LTS and loving it.
