Ricardo Montalbán is MIA from the memorial ????? he definded the role of khan<can't imagine why jj scr.ewed the pooch when casting a white english guy in that role>i guess jj just couldn't find a good spanish<from spain> or hispanic actor to fill that role<imo i think it was the accent that Ricardo brought that defined that character> besides i can't , for love or money , remember the name of the imposter that jj cast in his movie as khan......vs knowing who Ricardo Montalbán was from watching the ToS episode and lots of fantasy island......
Yeah, how dare they not cast a Spanish person to play an Indian
I laughed so hard at that Spanish/Indian comment. Reminded me of how they used to have Italians play the role of Indians (or Native Americans) in the old "spaghetti westerns". I agree that Kahn (especially 1982 version) was Ricardo's masterpiece. I also respect the fact that he busted his butt getting himself back in shape for the role. So much so, that they had to start showing his character on "Fantasy Island" at the gym a lot in order to explain why he was suddenly getting so buff. I don't really think it was his accent that made the character. I think it was the arrogance and the lust for revenge that drove him to insanity. Ricardo nailed that so well that Hollywood should've started casting him as villains a lot more. You know what's funny, though? Two of Kirk's biggest enemies were Mr. Rourke from Fantasy Island and Jim Ignitowski from Taxi. Admittedly, though, both actors nailed the roles. Still, I would've paid so much money to see Christopher Lloyd dressed as a Klingon, make up and all, acting like Jim Ignitowski.
still the other guy, what was his name, the jj khan, shows what i know, can't even remember the guys name, oh well, Ricardo was a superior actor in the role of khan , both in 1966 and in the movie version in 1982 , altho in 1982 he did play the role as someone at the edge of sanity and driven by revenge, and i liked the moby d.ick reference.............
You would think Khan would have been smart enough with that intellect to see he was going to end up like Ahab

Lets see how well you do after loosing the person you loved the most in your life died on Ceti Alpha 6 and have to live on a desert planet for 20yrs. Id be angry and resentful too, kirk had some big hubris.

Khan Noonian Singh was supposed to to be from india , i wouldve rather seen JJ get an actual indian star from maybe bollywood to do the part, atually make it more authentic to the nationality of khan.
