Hanger Pets Worth Getting?

PS4 player. Looking to make my first C-Store purchase for my main who will be rank 50 soon. Looking at T6 ships to future proof a little. Looking at Pathfinder Science vessel or Heavy Carrier Escort. Both have hanger with shuttle or fighters respectively. Pathfinder is my only option for Science Vessel. I can get an Advance Escort with no hanger for escorts.

I was getting hints in various posts in the forums here where it seemed like hanger pets don't work. Is that the case? Would I be better off getting the Advance Escort over the Heavy Carrier Escort? Pets sound like fun but if they don't work, I will avoid if possible.

Thanks for any replies.

Pathfinder has a hangar? I don't recall that as being true.

I believe fleet hanger pets are good.

but as console doesn't have fleet stuff. I wouldn't bother

Heavy Escort Carrier is a blast to fly. I still use both my old T5U Fleet and the T6 here and there.
On my Engineer with Miracle Worker the Carrier never dies.
Advanced Escort...like her a lot but the multi vector mode not so much. If you have that console (from T5 ships....T6 doesn't come with it), you may find it isn't worth using. Ship-split pets don't behave reliably.

Get the HEC for fun and good damage.
Choice of pets....Romulan reputation scorpions are easy to get and very good. Tholian reputation widow fighters might be a bit better.
But to get most out of your Tier 5 ship mastery, pets should match your weapons.
    ***Using cannons? Get the scorpions.
***Using beams? Get the widow fighters.

You can buy Advanced pets from the dil store once you own the ship, no need to have a fleet. For some ships this is a nice upgrade with extra weapons and/or powers.

The Pathfinder does not have a "normal" hangar bay.
The Aero Shuttle Bay is a clicky that spawns one pet with a long cooldown (90 seconds), see: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Long_Range_Science_Vessel_Set#Console_-_Universal_-_Aero_Shuttle_Bay .

I dont know whats available on console but yes hanger pets are great and big source of free DPS. I dont know if console has fleet bases yet if you do get elite fleet pets and peregrine fighters are the best for DPS when it comes to the basic pets. If you dont have fleet bases yet stick with the blue quality peregrines until you can get fleet pets. Dont waste dil on the advanced unless getting access to the fleet pets are months away for you console players. When you have fleet base and the fleet spire is built get the Obelisk swarmers they are the best basic fleet pets if console has them.

My 2 main ships both have a hangar bay which can launch 2 wings of 3 fighters each. Using the default Scorpion fighters for now, but they pack quite a punch. They do have a tendency to die quite easily though.

With my most used ship (Jhu'ael Tactical Carrier Warbird) when I select Cannon or Beam Overload my fighters also get that buff. Which I think is pretty nice :)
