Most Game Story Content Federation Related?

Hi everyone,

PS4 Player here. Currently have about 5 characters testing out different ways the game plays and to see all sides of the beginning stories for all three factions. Two of my characters are in the 40s for rank. Over the next couple of months, looking to purchase a couple of T6 ships for two characters, main and an alt, which likely will become a second main in time. Trying to decide on who the second main should be. Since I'm on the PS4, there is still more story content to come down the road over the next year hopefully.

My main is Federation science captain who will eventually be commanding a T6 Pathfinder going for a science build. Two other characters I prefer to use are a Federation Engineer and Romulan Engineer. T6 ship Fed ship would likely be either the Andromeda Exploration Cruiser or Atlas Class Heavy Escort Carrier for the Fed Engineer and a Jhu’ael Tactical Carrier Warbird for the Romulan Engineer.

As I will mainly have the time to support two character long term over the next year or so, which Engineer would be better fit in with the content yet to come? Federation or Romulan. Oh, Romulan sided with Federation if that helps out. Can my main help support either character and vice versa? Is the Romulan useable in all story content for future episodes?

Just trying to gage what the game is like long term. While I know there is a lot of repetition to this type of game, trying to make two character quite a bit different to keep the variety in gameplay.

Also, any thoughts on Andromeda Exploration Cruiser, Atlas Class Heavy Escort Carrier and Jhu’ael Tactical Carrier Warbird? I think they all would offer a different enough type gameplay versus the Pathfinder Long Range Science vessel. Don't have lots of choices yet on the PS4 for T6 ships. Lots of T5s but trying to stay ahead of the power creep so hopefully these ships will be on sale over the next few months. I do like all the choices I made, just have to narrow it down to one for now. :)

STO is, and will remain, decisively Fed-centric and other than the initial/starting mission arcs. It doesn't matter which Faction you choose because at a certain point in each they all merge anyway. The largest percentage of missions are exactly the same no matter which Faction you choose, with a few, rare, minor changes in dialog if you are a Romulan or Klingon.

To answer your question, your Fed aligned Romulan is capable of playing any and all of the later content and, unless Cryptic decides to make a sudden and drastic change, will be capable of playing any and all future content. Seeing as how Cryptic can't, or won't spend the time and money to even give Romulans/Klingons faction specific ships (other than one each in a lock box) we have been begging for forever, they are definitely not going to create "end game" faction specific content.

That being said, if you are planning on playing Fed aligned toons, your best bet is actually plying a Fed, not a Fed aligned Romulan. Federation toons have a huge number of ships to choose from throughout the entire game. Fed aligned Romulans have......a very limited selection in comparison.

That being said, I have one account that, other than a single, new, AoY toon, is nothing but Romulans :)
    LTS and loving it.

All I have to say is that I would like to see a more fleshed out stable of ships for the Klingons and Romulans. Specifically since Klingons have three classes of ships, the battle cruiser, the raider and the third which I am conveniently forgetting at the moment, I would like to see a slow introduction of different classes of the ships in the C-Store at the lower ranks. The same would be nice for the Romulans even though they are all called Warbirds. I would play my Klingons and Romulans more if they had more ships to choose from, and if the Romulan ships didn't suck so horribly compared to the Fed and Klingon equivalents.
