Some are but there are a few popping up in dialogue as well, that said however it did not detract from mission quality.

The mission was a good test for my Excelsior phaser and photon build. I got a chance to test my new mining laser on more than a few unwilling test subjects, he he very destructive on a phaser build.

I decided to add a revenge angle on my character as well, I decided to kill off Mrs Valdez.
Not quite worked out the details yet.

I.S.S. Blenheim- Vulcan Sector (Mirror Universe)

Admiral Valdez was in the war room supervising operation sector wide. "66 traitor ship destroyed for only 10 of ours" noted Solat. "Andorian and Vulcan fleets have bolstered our forces, as long as we keep tying down Leeta's traitors here, it makes Admiral Heath's job a whole lot easier" Valdez replied back before finishing with "this is a team effort, Leeta will have deploy ships over multiple fronts which weakens her forces considerably".

"Nathan, a message from Betazed" Solat said passing over the PADD. Valdez read the message twice before picking up a chair, throwing it across the room and punching the wall in a berserk rage. The message was clear, a body had been found on Betazed and it hit home hard. Captain Teanna Valdez was found dead in a pond in the Betazoid capital. Valdez's own bodyguard had to hold him against the wall as a medical orderly sedated him.

Several hours later, Valdez came to in sickbay. "Sir, you are awake" said doctor Jorel. "What happened?" asked Valdez. "You went berserk, it took at least 6 guards to bring you down." replied Jorel. Valdez walked over to the intercom, "All senior staff conference room in 10 minutes, make make my daughter is there as well." ordered Valdez.

At the meeting Valdez showed his senior officer the report, Trianna Valdez punched the table. Valdez laid out his course of action on the matter, he was not going to be baited into a premature attack. "One word on the table, vengeance" Valdez simply said. "Solat, get your contacts in Imperial Intelligence, I want to find the person responsible, as of now I am implementing a take no prisoners policy.", Valdez paused and carried on with his briefing, "all traitor ship are to be destroyed including the escape pods, any traitors captured in combat are to be executed immediately". All present agreed, "If we find the person responsible for the killing of my mother, I want to be the last thing they see before they die" requested Trianna. Admiral Valdez agreed, his defensive strategy would still be in place.

Valdez had assembled a fleet of 200 dreadnoughts, battleships, heavy cruisers and escorts, they were already entering the Tellar system. Valdez hailed the Tellarite leadership in a bid to gain their support, they refused his offer, as far as Valdez was concerned they were against him and he deployed his fleet in orbit of Tellar Prime.

The Tellarites saw this as a provocation and moved their fleet of 150 ships to intercept Valdez. He formed up his fleet with with dreadnoughts and battleships as the centre of his fleet with heavy cruisers deployed forward with the escorts as support. A tense stand off occurred with neither side willing to budge, eventually Valdez gave the order to attack.

The dreadnoughts and battleships attacked between the Tellarite ships firing heavy broadsides on both port and starboard ripping through ship after ship, Valdez watched from his flagship, the I.S.S. Blenheim also heavily engaged. The escorts and heavy cruisers had split off in 2 directions and enveloped the Tellarite flanks before linking up behind them. Valdez in no mood for mercy gave his infamous order "witch's cauldron" and all his ships interlocked their firing solutions then opening up at point blank range. The Tellarites never stood a chance as they were mercilessly destroyed, all Valdez's captains obeyed the order to destroy all vessels and escape pods.

On the bridge of the Blenheim Admiral Valdez surveyed the battle scene, all 150 Tellarite ships wiped out with all crews eliminated. The Terran fleet's losses were minimal with only 2 escorts destroyed, Valdez had proved his point and the Tellarite leadership surrendered control of their system to Valdez. "Tellar System secure" noted Valdez. Trianna Valdez surveying the aftermath was smiling, the slaughter of Tellar Prime would be infamous.

"Next target father?" asked Trianna, Admiral Valdez gave some thought, Rigel and it's shipyards would have to be secured next. Admiral Valdez passed on a message to Solat, he said "send this to Admiral Heath, tell her another system secure." His next order was, "all ships set a course for the Rigel system, maximum transwarp". All ships obeyed and the fleet was on it's way to Rigel.

        Vulcan Sector Boarder (Mirror Universe)
Romulan Union Battle group: Scythe- Flagship Basilisk class R.D.W. Phoenix

Veel'Riz the Reaper of Romulus, looked over his pad once again detailing his scouts report of his prey’s course. His current targets- a trade convoy carrying Slaves, and Federation Prisoners of war (POWs), had just passed into the Vulcan Sector. If he was going to rescue this group he had to act fast… No time like the present he decided.

“Kronous groups: I want two attack runs at warp speed- target their engines, then begin the “Hornet Nest”. The rest of the ships will open fire and follow suit once you’ve started the endgame… Begin!”

The convoy of freighters never knew what hit them- everything had been going smoothly then suddenly weapons were coming at them from every possible angle! Three of the escorting warships were cracked like eggs before the crews even realized what was happening.

Then all chaos broke out: as the Moldindran Paladin class dreadnought (by the standards of other species) decloaked from subspace in all it’s 1,200 meter glory followed by the rest of task force picking their targets.

With practiced precision the attacking ships alternated from firing while cloaked and when visible making it impossible for their hapless Imperial foes to accurately take count of how many ships were attacking them. Cruisers appearing as nimble frigates and escorts wove around them in a dance of death.

Two-hundred and thirty-eight seconds later all 10 of the Starfleet ships were nothing but scrap, with the freighters dead in space.

“Boarders away launch the parasites!" He ordered. Specially designed torpedoes each equipped with a drill impacted the hulls of the freighters deploying their payload of armored marines.
The operation was fished quickly, the transporter inhibitors disabled and the prisoners beamed onto the few Molindran ships for transport back to their home universe. Veel'Riz gave two final orders before the troops came home: “Delete all evidence from their computers, then prepare to destroy the ships- I want nothing larger than a cubic meter remaining of all but one of those ships. Let’s assume they got out a distress signal everyone!”

Another ten minutes later the whole operation was complete, and the last remaining cargo-hauler full to bursting with plasma bombs was on a course for Imperial ship-yards at Sol IV; it most likely wouldn’t reach it’s target but the attempt still had to be made. Then all of the ships faded into the void of space… The allies and remnants of civilization that now- never even existed.

I.S.S. Blenheim war room, Vulcan Sector (Mirror Universe)

Admiral Valdez had just finished taking a call, the situation had changed for the worst. A new enemy had made it's presence known, "Classic hit hard and run strategy here Nathan" said Solat. Valdez always knew the situation with the Romulans was precarious at best. "Solat, can you identify these new ships attacking us?" asked Valdez, "they attack and disappear before we can respond" he noted.

"We did pick up a strange signature from the last attack site" Solat replied, "chronitons of all things" she finished with. Valdez immediately knew what that meant, these mystery attacks were temporal in nature and it was not good. "Do these signatures match the ones we recovered from the Trill attack? he asked. Solat brought up both signatures on the monitor, they were a perfect match. These mystery ships were the same ones who attacked the Trill shipyards. "This is a game changer, I'm authorising the deployment of Temporal shields for all loyal Terran ships in this sector, also start the installation of temporal drives on this fleet" Valdez replied. "When they appear next, I'll be waiting for them" he finished with.

Solat handed over another PADD to Valdez, "My people did some digging on Betazed as you requested Nathan" said Solat. Valdez read the PADD, the hit on his wife originated within his fleet and Valdez was not happy. "Solat, lead a security detail to the I.S.S. Marlborough, I want Captain McKean placed under arrest." he ordered. "What charge?" asked Solat, Valdez uttered one word "murder"

Solat's raid got Captain McKean and they had returned to the Blenheim, Valdez ordered the prisoner to an interrogation chamber. In the interrogation chamber, Captain McKean was sat down with both his arms and legs strapped to the chair. Valdez had decided to interrogate the prisoner himself, joining him was Trianna Valdez and she smiled at Mckean knowing revenge would be sweet indeed.

"Why did you order that hit?" asked Valdez, Mckean remained defiant. " We terrans are superior to all other species, you conspire with weaker species" Mckean replied. Trianna walked around the table right up to Mckean before smashing his head into the table, "wrong choice of words traitor" she said in a cold calm manner. "Mongrel" replied Mckean, Trianna pulled out her Colt 1911 and pointed it at McKean's head. "No need for that yet" Admiral Valdez said. "You are lucky my father wants you alive for the moment. I would not hesitate to shoot you" Trianna said as she pistol whipped Mckean, "that was for calling me mongrel" she said smiling.

After several hours, Mckean finally confessed to ordering the hit on Leeta's behalf, Nathan decided to let Trianna rough Mckean up before saying to him, "I'll let you live but she won't, goodbye Mckean" he said in a cold calm manner before saying "Trianna, he's all yours, have fun" as he walked out of the chamber. Trianna decided that an example must be made and beat Mckean to the point he was in a pool of his own blood. "I will be the last thing you ever see alive" Trianna said before walking out of the room and sealing the door behind her. "Computer, vent Interrogation Chamber 1" Trianna ordered. After venting was completed and the chamber re-pressured, Trianna and 4 Betazoid security officers walked into the chamber. Trianna had kept her promise and ordered that the body be tossed out of the airlock.

Admiral Valdez soon heard what had happened, he was proud, it was his daughter's first kill and Teanna had been avenged. Now he could focus on military matters, Rigel had co-operated and the shipyards were in loyalist hands. He had also started deployment of of temporal defences for his sector, his work with the triumvirate had given him access to to temporally phased satellites and defensive turrets and minefields. Vulcan sector would be temporally sealed off to stop these attacks, as soon as a temporal rift appeared, it would destabilise it to the point nothing could pass through.

Valdez got a message, Terra was in upheaval. The political infighting had turned violent with battles being fought on Terran soil itself. Leeta's treachery and the temporal assaults had weakened the empire to the point that admirals all over the empire became warlords fighting over sectors and influence. Valdez knew the writing was on the wall, the empire was tearing itself apart and now it's enemies were attacking on all fronts. To save the empire meant a trip to the past, he had received a message from 2380 addressed to him. They were new orders. He was to take what loyalist ships he could and make a temporal incursion into the past. Valdez chose 50 ships based on their loyalty and combat skills.

The empire was no longer safe for him, his family and his crews. With a heavy heart he gave a speech to his crew and the 50 ships going with him. "Loyal soldiers, our empire is beyond hope. You have all performed above and beyond duty to the empire, those politicians let us down. We soldiers fought and died for an empire that did not care about our sacrifices, now we say no more loyal soldiers dying for those political rats back home. We have a new mission, if successful we will save the empire before it ever gets to this point. We are to journey into the past to help liberate it from our enemies and remould it in a manner that will sustain it for millennia to come, no more political BS, we will prevail or die trying, Valdez out". All his chosen crews all let out a cheer, they would aid their admiral who had led them to victory after victory. Trianna said to the bridge crew of the Blenheim, "You served my father loyally and that makes you family to me". Admiral Valdez was proud of his daughter, she had finally realised that loyalty goes a long way in keeping a crew together.

Admiral Valdez gave the order and the Blenheim and 50 of his loyalist ships activated their temporal drives, their destination Nukara 2380. To cover their tracks, all 51 ships had simulated a auto destruct leaving wreckage behind with phaser burns on it. As far as command was concerned, Valdez and the crews of 51 ships were lost to enemy action and that suited him perfectly.

            Vulcan sector (Mirror universe)
            I.S.S. Vendetta

"Ah, great as always Marion..."Victoria O'Brien wistfully sighed rolling over onto her side to look at her companion. "After all the madness lately that was exactly-"
She was interrupted by the sudden blaring of the alarms. Both individuals shooting up and grabbing their uniforms, before sprinting to the bridge, dishshelved appearances and all.

Victoria got to the bridge after Marion, "This had better be some kind of catastrophe!"
Zalnous didn't look up from his station and continued his rapid calculations. "Look at the temporal sensors now! I am in no mood for Armageddon today Victoria!" He yelled furiously, as she turned her gaze to the timelines. Victoria had some trouble despite the commander's lessons on reading the observations but she didn't need expertise to know what she was seeing wasn't good.
The temporal sensors were going haywire! There were blips of anomalies everywhere- past, preset, future- what was happening?! Was this an attack of some kind? If so by whom? Or was this Zalnos' insane 'anti-time anomaly' theory? He said his brother's wife had been a scientist and believed that to much temporal manipulation could result in a total timeline collapse as it tried to fix itself.

"Is there a corner stone? Can we take it out with one blow?" O'Brien questioned.
She turned looking at the map of the quadrant as the temporal alterations began popping up on the screen.

"Come on... come on, give me something to work with...!" Marion frantically said to himself. "No... no... This is mine to command and you will obey me!" He smashed his fist on the monitor, as his eye caught something different about one of the changes. "There! Set course for Sol II three hours from now!"
The Vendetta and its escorts activated their temporal drives ... Entering the portal as their ships rumbled and lights overloaded.
"Hull stress levels are becoming to great, transferring batteries to structural integrity and fields. The temporal rift is destabilizing!"
Marion jumped up "I'm on it!"
"The I.S.S. Desloation's warp core went critical!"
"Transfer emergency power to temporal stabilizers! warp power to shields and structural integrity!" Marion began taking charge as a large fracture spread over the roof, even as the repair nanites went to work.
Lutenant cmd Shivorn calmly spoke as she piloted the ship. "The chances of survival in current circumstances are 1 in 14."
Victoria was knocked off her feet as the ship rocked, and climbed over to a chair. "I never want to hear that again Vulcan!"
"Brace for impact!" Zalnos yelled into the comsystem.
Emerging from the temporal rift wasn't a picnic...
Zalnos looked up eye wide with terror, "Hard to Starboard!"
The entire fleet emerged from the portals, although 13 vessels immediately broke apart.
Rishis found herself on the floor... "Damage report!"

The tactical office didn't give his crewmates a chance to act on that order ad he gave his own. "It's going to have to wait Krenim Dreadnought entering weapons range... I have aft torpedo tubes available but energy weapons aren't responding."
This wasn't going to be a good day... "Fighters, everything that will fly launch it now!" said the the Admiral, as O'Briens uniform was replaced with their desired style hologram.

"Krenim vessel... This is the Imperial Starship Vendetta, leave this system now or prepare to be boarded."
The response was weapons fire, and the loss of a Jupiter class.

O'Brien stood up as a hologram of the enemy appeared before her... Bringing her left hand up she cut through it with the edge of her hand before closing her palm around the main hull.
The dreadnought split in half, then simply started exploding in those areas. "Mortals build such frail monuments to themselves... Such childish vanity, misplaced hubris.. So easily it is to end their petty existence." Ran'karsork said in a bored passive tone.

Victoria shook her head as the onlookers continued their horrified stares. "Damage report... Now if you would be so kind." she said softly looking down at her right shoulder as the tears escaped... She'd definitely dislocated the joint. She gripped the railing and breathed heavily.

"Hull breaches on decks: two, three, six, eight, eleven, and fourteen. Decompression on deck three, port side, blast doors are holding... One-hundred and nine officers unaccounted for on that deck. Power conduits on deck six through twelve have blown. Secondary sick-bay has no power and is operating on batteries, estimate they have ten hours at most if they receive only non-life-threatening injuries. Engineering reports we won't be able to go faster than warp 1, until we get repairs at a Star base, unless you fancy destroying the ship."

Rishis pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Casualties on decks 2 through 18. Injuries on all decks- that's 943 so far and rising, 441 of them severely... Sick-bay requests emergency assistance from any crew members with medical experience- even if it's only first aid. Emergency force fields are holding.... Life support is at 65% capacity... Main weapons are..."

Victoria's eyes glazed over as she zoned out.... This just simply couldn't be happening.

She heard Marion say that the temporal alterations had stopped, they'd neutralized the threat.... Hooray problem solved, they should go to Hawaii, it wasn't as though there were more immediate concerns than the future- oh wait yes there was!

She snapped when she saw lieutenant Ral'indorf leaving the bridge in her peripheral vision.
"Where are you going lieutenant?" she growled.
"To assist chief medical officer -"
"Before... You've... Fixed..My... shoulder?!" O'Brien questioned. The Andorian quickly fixed her mistake, nearly panicing when Rishis screamed as the limb was momentarily streched further. The alien left in a hurry.
            "Marion what happened?" Victoria barked.

"The anomaly destabilized because of these satellites... Specifically designed to interfere with time travel, which would explain the damage to the Krenim vessel... If we were in transit a few seconds longer we'd be scrap... This one seems to have an error in its program, or maybe a faulty circuit- I doubt it would have targeted an Imperial ship." He sighed.

"Unless someone wants us dead...." O'Brien stated.

"Leeta wouldn't be able too put this kind of network around Sol without being detected... I should also note that these don't appear finished or those turrets might be firing. The cloak and temporal drive are offline, going to take weeks for the repairs we need right now..... Sensors just picked up fifteen ships on approach, the fleet isn't much better shape than we are right now."

"Do you have any friends in the timeline Marion?" Victoria rapidly questioned, as she started sending a temporal distress call. "This is Victoria O'Brien of the ISS Vendetta, we've stopped an enemy incursion at our location but have fallen victim to a new defense which is not on our records. Requesting any assistance from Imperial loyalists." She turned to her helms-man, "Warp one, to the Jouret system! Signal any warp capable ships to follow!" Rishis looked down taking thankful note that all of her Mobius escorts were among the ships which still had warp drive. "Oh and Marion, I want you to find out who exactly is reponsible for nearly destroying my ship!"

Zalnos didn't say anything for a moment. "I have a few contacts I trust out there... But they might also be susceptible to the- Wait a minute! I know these designs my old-"

"How does that help us exactly!?" Victoria shouted, as warp drive kicked in and everything dimmed and flickered for a worrying few seconds.

"It doesn't help us at the moment!"

"Can we get into the other universe and use one of our bases? Make repairs get a larger sickbay?"

"We don't t have the power to make a portal; and by the way, you're the only one here with an entity inside them!"

Zalnos stood having an idea before running to the shuttle bay. "If nobody shows up this might be our only chance, and the odds of this working aren't exactly- "he was cut off as the turbo lift closed....

            Romulan Union battle group Scythe
            Location: Mirror Vulcan Orbit -Subspace

Star Commander Veel'Riz, looked over his list of volunteers. He hated having to ask them to do this- asking for the Vulcan members of his crews to act as spies so they could find Commander Wol'Oop. It was a long shot, but any intelligence was useful at this point... They'd hit more than ten Terran positions holding or moving prisoners but their main goal eluded them.

Two names on the list caught his eye or rather one. "Shield Officer Zelk you have the bridge." The scarred Romulan said as he left the bride to his first officer. He went straight to the T'Paal quarters. Father and 'son' snapped to attention as his request to enter was granted. "As you were." He looked to unlikely family unit he'd help smuggle off Vulcan two decades earlier... Centurion T'Paal and his adopted Terran son Sean. "I need to make sure I say this one more time... If you go down there... It's unlikely we will be able to return for quite some time- if at all. We have an opportunity to make a new life in other reality, are you both positive you want to do this?"

Vok and Sean both responded determination in their voices. "Yes." Vok continued, "You have done more than what was ever expected of you by helping us over the years Star Commander. Now it is our turn to help others. Live long and prosper..."

There was nothing more to be said, Veel'Riz went to his tactical room to plan the best places to transport them and the other 30 soldiers down.
            --1 hour later--

The Valour class (The Ha'Pax variant type ships) R.D.W. Black-Wind activated it's conventional cloaking device, entered normal space, and began beaming down the selected individuals through hand picked holes in transport detection grid. All According to plan... It was the reactivation of the subspace cloak that sent a shockwave through the fleet.

For a moment everything seemed fine, then a ripple went through the area of subspace they occupied- one by one each ship entered normal space.

"Red alert!" Veel'Riz, realizing the peril of all 38 ships, scowled as weapon's platforms opened up on his now quite visible task force.... Thank the shadows he'd requested some reinforcements as the Terrans became more unpredictable as they fought themselves.

As he ordered the Union Haliberd and allied Mercy class frigates to engage these new weapons, while his escorts cloaked and began working with the cruisers, and half the battleships to engage the Terran ships. The Kronous escorts made extensive use of their Iconian weaponry, gateways, and like every other ship in the Union, the ability to keep their shields up while cloaked.

The 5 Falcata class destroyers deactivated their cloaks as they entered flanking position of the dry docks and the Cascade fighters launched from the Paladin also opened fire.

As the Phoenix, remaining battleships, and the Paladin closed in on the star base the Reaper posed a question to his counterpart on the massive battleship. "Can we get a worm hole out of here Captain? What forced us to drop out of subspace?" Terran fighters began to accelerate at them.

"I can only speculate an unintentional affect of a temporal weapon at the moment. We will be able to activate our cloak and wormhole in an estimated forty minutes based on the current state of subspace... Allow us to deal with these fighters."

With the ease a human would find in picking up a spoon, the Telekinetic troops on the G.S.S. Crest-wave grabbed the incoming fighters and used them as weapons against the starbase... Finally the ships launched their volleys of ionized destruction at the base. As the torpedoes of the Paladin impacted the target they created a quantum singularity- a black hole only 2% of a millimeter wide but with more than enough destructive force to cause significant damage. Then the powerful telepaths ripped the base apart.

Veel'Riz checked his tactical screen noticing that the chroniton weapons on the Molindrans were having a meaningful impact on these new machines. On his order the Justice cruisers focused their Chroniton energy weapons on the devices preventing the fleets retreat into subspace- not to mention continuously firing at his fleet.

By the time the group engaged the remaining ships as a whole he'd lost 3 ships the foe's 19. Their remaining resistance was ended swiftly.

Scanning for Chroniton particles Veel'Riz informed his remaining that they would need to defend the allied ships until they could create a short range wormhole and re-enter subspace... Getting through the minefield in front of them wasn't something he was prepared to risk.... This wouldn't have been such a problem if he had been more instant of providing the other ships with a Romualn cloaking device in addition to their own!

Only one option- have his ships cloak and wait.

            Nukara System- Mirror Universe

As Blenheim's task group all jumped out of the temporal rift, Admiral Valdez was counting the ships from the bridge of the Blenheim. "Good all made it intact", On ops, Lt Valdez called Admiral Valdez over, "The drives sent us to 2390 instead of 2380" she said to him. "Not a problem, in fact it's more than ideal" Admiral Valdez pointed out, "2390 is the year we started our campaigns of liberation" he said smiling, he then ordered all temporal shields and drives removed and then destroyed thoroughly. All captains obeyed without question.

"All ships set course for Nukara station, full impulse" was his next order. "The Tholians don't take too kindly to surprises Nathan" pointed out Solat. Valdez considered his options, what he decided to do was to link up with the Terran fleet being amassed at Nukara, an extra 51 ships would be his gift to the Terran commander in chief.

Valdez had brought a potent but small force to Admiral Sito's armada. Forming the core of his battle group were his 25 battleships and dreadnoughts, supporting the heavy ships where 5 carriers and 21 tactical escorts. "I want all crews briefed on the historical accounts of the battles fought in these campaigns. Those Cardassian and Klingon barbarians of the alliance are going to be in for one rude shock. To avoid conflict with the admiral, Valdez transferred his flag to the I.S.S. Oudinarde, a Galaxy Class battleship. After the crew transferred over, Valdez put the Blenheim into drydock. He knew his counterpart would need it someday.

Next he instituted a new uniform policy to maintain their cover, they would be wearing the uniform of this fledgling empire from now on. Security was the next change, he deployed his betazoids as thought police to contain any loose thoughts and to stop problems happening before they happened. Information control was also tightened to a need to to know basis for captains and senior command officers only.

Enlisted and junior officers were warned against any loose talk, Valdez laid out the law to them, "loose talk costs lives, first warning is solitary confinement in the brig, second warning the booth and you lot do not need to use your imaginations to know what the third strike is". All got the message clearly. Lt Valdez was soon called into the admiral's ready room. "Lt, keep an eye on the bridge crew, anyone thinks about causing trouble is to be dealt with in an efficient manner." Lt Valdez acknowledged her orders. Next Solat was called into the ready room. "Schedule random combat drills 4 times a day at random times", Solat acknowledged the order, "oh and Solat, you are out of uniform" Valdez replied as he gave her a black box, Solat opened the box and Valdez put an extra pip on her uniform. "Congratulations Captain Solat, you will captain the Oudinarde, you are also my battle group XO"

Solat walked with the admiral onto the bridge and took the captain's seat, Valdez stood down as commander of the Oudinarde, it was now his mobile headquarters. Astrometrics was turned into a war room and crews were being drilled to get into fighting efficiency. He began preparing for total war and his knowledge of Terran history of this time would be a strategic and tactical advantage.

All Klingon/Cardassian alliance shipping routes were to be monitored and both military and merchant ships were considered fair game for his hunting wolf-packs of escorts. Valdez also ordered no quarter to be given towards any Cardassian and Klingon, alliance collaborators were also on the list. This was to be a war without mercy, a war of vengeance.

I.S.S. Bulldog , Betazed orbit- (Mirror Universe)

Admiral Valdez had been preparing his forces for a raid on Betazed, briefing his crews he laid out his plan. "Objectives are to aid the Betazed resistance and and prisoner rescue, Defiant group one is to disable the orbital defence sensors after which the rest of the raiding group will smash through the breach." Valdez pointed out objectives to his ground forces.

"1st Inquisitor Regiment are to infiltrate the Betazed capital city of Rixx and link up with Papela Lot's resistance fighters, she's briefed on the plan, 2nd regiment are to assault the labour camp at Lake Cataria. The 173 MACO division will act as a tactical reserve. Intel suggests the guards are in process of moving the prisoners so we have to be quick." All unit commanders understood the brief.

The Defiant group disabled the orbital grid knocking out sensor satellites as the rest of the group roared into orbit and immediately transports were on their way to the surface. Landing unopposed, the first Inquisitor infiltrated the city dealing with any alliance troops stealthily. They then linked up with Papela Lot's resistance fighters and provisioned them with weapons and supplies, their other job was to stay behind as saboteurs and to man communications with the rest of the Betazoid resistance.

2nd Regiment infiltrated to within 50 yards of the Cateria camp before they suddenly opened up a volley of weapons and grenade fire. Blowing open the gates, they blasted through the cell blocks and infirmaries dispatching the Cardassian guards. The Terran and Betazoid slaves would not leave at first due to the unexpected prison break.

With time running out, Colonel Black started ordering his troops to start pulling people out of their cells, any unable to walk were put on stretchers and put with the walking wounded in the middle of the column escorted to the embarkation point. Within 30 minutes, 600 Terran and Betazoid men, women and children had been rescued and the raiding group was warping back to Nukara in a victorious mood. Admiral Sito may have not approved the raid but it had achieved it's objectives with no pursuit from alliance forces.

Admiral Valdez decided to go talk to the liberated Terrans and Betazoids, "Who are you" asked one of the newly released prisoners. "A friend" replied Valdez, "any of you who are capable of fighting, you may sign on with my commanding officer when we get home". After talking to the freed prisoners and listening to their accounts of Alliance cruelty, he asked his senior officers to interview the freed prisoners and document all alliance atrocities.

The raiding force warped back into Nukara and transferred the freed prisoners to the station. Valdez had done the impossible. He had infiltrated deep behind enemy lines and come back with 600 freed prisoners. Morale fleet wide was at an all time high, they wanted revenge and from what the former slaves had told fleet command, the alliance would pay for what they had done.

"The Alliance sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind." Valdez noted in his log, he vowed he would return to Betazed at the head of a liberation armada and massive army to free the planet.
His affinity for the Betazoid people influenced his judgement, Betazed would have to be secured in name of the fledgling empire.

@thay8472, Would Sito approve of unconventional warfare behind Alliance lines?
Who's getting the job of liberating Betazed?
The raid was based on two classic raids from WW2.

Whoever the commander of # fleet heading that way.

The Terran Rebellion is out and about before this surprise assault is launched. Given the number of ships being built I can see the Terranshaving a manpower issue, so maybe they're launching covert operations to liberate the Alliance camps.

Any covert backing Sito can give them will make her look good politically after liberation. She would be remembered as a liberator. The Inquisitor Brigade are troops entirely raised on Betazed, they're Valdez's elite commando unit. They get the tasks no other unit is capable of carrying out and they specialise in close quarter combat and special operations like prisoner rescue.

I've got an idea how to deal with that problem, have officers who's forte is unconventional warfare as well as conventional engagements. During WW2, the British had intelligence officers parachuted into enemy held territory to link up with the resistance groups, their orders were to set Europe ablaze.

Same principle here, intelligence and special ops agents emplaced with the Terran resistance with orders to set Alliance space ablaze with rebellions and acts of sabotage. So when Sito decides to commit her forces, the Alliance is occupied putting out the wildfires in their rear

I.S.S. Oudinarde, war room (mirror universe)

"Computer, give me a full all terrain map of the Rixx area of Betazed" requested Admiral Nathan Valdez, the map and city layout appearing on the tactical board. Valdez had invited all his senior commanders and Naynta Lot for their input. "Ladies and gentlemen, I need suggestions for an opposed planetary assault. What we need are good landing zones we can defend as close to this city here. This is Rixx the Betazed capital, we take this city and we take the central hub of Alliance defence on Betazed"

Colonel Black took a look at the map, he determined that a direct airborne assault on the city would work. Other officers disagreed and the arguments ranged over the table over possible strategies, Valdez sat back and listened. The deadlock was broken by Naynta Lot, her idea was bold, original and aggressive. Firing a phaser into the air, she suggested "Intrepid class ships are atmospheric capable and can land directly, they're armed to the teeth, we use them to transport the troops down in large numbers and quickly." The spot she chose was a valley 2 km from the city and it could be defended. "I know this area of Betazed very well" she pointed out, the plan got approved, her local knowledge would be vital.

The next problem was securing the city, Valdez knew that an urban assault would be bloody either way. Rather than risking a frontal assault, Rixx would have to be encircled and isolated, the city would then be assaulted from all sides at once. The idea was to push the Alliance garrison into a killing zone and then wipe them out. Air support and artillery support would be provided by the Intrepids and runabouts converted into bombers with fighters for air protection and ground attack. The bombers and fighters would be based on his carriers in orbit. Intrepids would be high altitude artillery with runabouts and fighters attacking at low level.

All the other Betazoid cities would also have to be cut off and brought under siege at the same time in order to contain the other Alliance garrisons. Betazoid partisan units and 1st Inquisitor would hit power generators, spaceports and ground based defence centres as the troops were coming into land.

"Dismissed" ordered Valdez, "Naynta, it's your homeworld, if you want 9th Fleet, you'll have my full support and my troops", Naynta smiled as she left the room escorted by Lt Valdez and a Betazoid guard. He then gave a new order for his MACOs and Betazoid commandos. They were to start urban close quarter combat training. Valdez wanted his troops well trained for the job and iron discipline was enforced by Colonel Black, Colonel William Black was old school in his approach. He was ex Terran Rebellion and was a 30 year veteran."How many infractions,Colonel?" asked Valdez as he inspected his troops. "Admiral, 24 today all Terrans, I had them disciplined in a suitable manner" he replied back. "Good, carry on Colonel" Valdez replied back as both officers saluted.

All over his ships, crews were being drilled and redrilled. The fighter and runabout crews constantly honed their dog fighting and low level attack techniques in the simulators against virtual targets, both ground and air. Valdez had also given his officers full authority on discipline, any major infraction meant a trip to the booth. His crews and troops would be the best drilled and disciplined in the fleet. An hour later, he was on the Enterprise presenting the plan to Fleet command.

                        Battlegroup Scythe

It had been two weeks since his fleet had escaped Vulcan, and Veel’Riz wasn’t pleased. Currently they were headed away from the fighting, and while they’d been able to barter with some Ferengi for repairs, the price had been high. He look over his casualty reports again, and grimaced. Waiting for the Molindran ship to overcome the interference had been the worst part of this whole operation. In the hour it had taken to escape Vulcan, the Empire had launched two counter attacks, and while they’d been repelled this new outcome made all of this for nothing... It left a bitter taste in his mouth.

After their get-away the task group had been intercepted by the U.S.S. Pastak, and while Veel’Riz had limited experience dealing with Time travel- recent events had forced him to see it’s dangers. “The person you’re looking for isn’t in this century anymore Star-Commander.” Walker had said. Now he’d have to get his ships to the Guardian of Forever and navigate a Terran-Alliance war- to the Nukara system of all places! It had just had to be the Tholians helping the Terrans didn’t it? His priorities now were simple, at least in principal but he doubted it would be in practice:
                        1) Get into the past during the later part of the first year of the Rebellion... Hopefully during the fall of Qo’nous or better yet Cardassia.
                        2) Avoid any large scale engagement with either the Alliance or Imperials of possible, although he’d take clear advantage of any sure numerical advance he had against any unfortunate Terran groups.
                        3) Starying undetected by any faction to avoid contaminating the timeline
                        4) Locate the Commander as ordered and meet the Temporal Defence Initiative in Arncanius Arm for extraction as instructed.

... Again easier said than done.

Three days later they’d managed to reach the seemingly unremarkable plane- but looks could be deceiving... This barren world held a being capable of manipulating the time stream.... Veel’Riz beamed down with his tea and found the strange entity known as Forever. Thankfully he’d found it more agreeable to their plan than he’d thought- something about the balance of the realms being in jeopardy but that didn’t really concern him- what ever it meant.

                        -2390-
Going into the past directly into the of an Alliance Empire engagement hadn’t been in the plan.... They’d have to fight their way out. Roughly Seventy-four hostiles also fighting each other... Child's play, especially given BG Scythe's superior technology....
Objective three flew out the window in less than ten seconds... Just his luck. Still, the Reaper and his 41 harbingers (ships) of Death had come.

                        2390 Archanis Sector (mirror universe)

"Those same chroniton signatures again" noted Valdez. The chronitons were less than 5 light years away, taking all precautions Valdez had all his ships activate their temporal shields. Valdez formed a cloaked battle line and seemingly left a "rebel" troop convoy unprotected. All the transports were empty, they would be the bait for a trap.

Within 2 hours, the convoy had attracted attention from the Romulan Union and soon warbirds and dreadnoughts were decloaking expecting easy kills. Valdez watched as the Romulan forces closed in on the convoy waiting for the right moment to attack. As the Romulans got with in weapon range of the transports and started to open fire, Valdez gave the order. His 51 ships came out of nowhere as they slammed in antiproton, chroniton and neutronic fire. The Romulans replied back in kind, their weapons had a hard time getting through the temporal shields. 10 minutes later it was over with both sides withdrawing to lick their wounds. Battle group Scythe had been damaged but so had Valdez's fleet.

"Hail their lead ship" ordered Valdez, "lets not let this get too far" he finished with. The Romulan union commander's face appeared on screen. "Valdez, I've been waiting to meet you on the battlefield, you may refer to me as Veel'Riz" said the Romulan commander. "Ah so you are the person attacking my convoys" said Valdez in a calm and controlled manner. "Admiral, I'm giving two choices, surrender your forces and you and your troops shall not be harmed, if you refuse I will destroy you" said Veel'Riz. Valdez considered all options before replying back "no surrender, you want to fight, I'll give you a fight".

Veel'Riz was angry, Valdez had spoilt his planned operations. "All ships prepare for combat" was the order from the Romulan commander. Valdez had taken precautions, he had Lt Valdez reassigned to the Enterprise before he left Nukara as a liason between him and Sito.
Valdez reformed his battle line and gave the order to advance and engage the hostile forces. The battleships and dreadnoughts attacked in two columns aiming to split up the Romulan forces, they crashed straight through piercing the line. Soon more imperial ships were appearing on the scene and they attacked the Romulan wings. All was going well for Valdez until disaster struck, The Oudenarde took a direct hit and Valdez went down wounded. "Medical teams to the battle bridge" ordered Solat. She now took charge of the situation. "All ships get in close and start targeting their singularity cores" she ordered. All ships obeyed and soon Battle group Scythe was being decimated as core after core went critical.

Seeing what was happening Veel'Riz ordered a retreat of the survivors, Valdez had won but at great cost. In sickbay, Jorel and his surgery team were busy dealing with the casualties, Valdez's injuries were severe. The right side of his face was badly burned with his right eye out of action, Jorel did what he could though the admiral would be scarred for life from the burns but he had saved the right eye. Imperial losses were heavy, 25 ships lost for 30 Romulan ships destroyed. Both sides had pounded away at each other until the damage to both sides meant that the fight could not continue.

The battle of Archanis was a Terran victory but at a heavy cost.

The survivors of Task group Inquisitor limped back to Nukara, no one was cheering. It was a Pyrrhic victory at best. Valdez's crews could be proud, they managed to go toe to toe with a larger and superior force and win. The admiral would never be the same again. Eventually waking up in sickbay, Valdez was handed a report by Captain Solat. Looking at the losses, Valdez was shocked. "Nathan, we won but at a great cost" said Solat. "One more like that and we are finished" replied Valdez. "Veel'Riz wants me for some reason and I intend to find out why" he finished with.

                          Stardate 2390
The briefing room on the Phoenix had seen better days. The 7 Remans and their 4 Romulan counterparts had had their crews bunker down... Veel'Riz's Shield-Officer had ordered a secure message be sent to rendevouz with the three Molindran ships that had accompanied them.
The remaining warbirds were battered, having bleed air and bodies to reach this nebula. They weren't going faster than warp 5 until some serious repairs were made.
The Star-Commander had spent the last 30 hours in surgery after a final torpedo had broken through the shields as the survivors made a 'tactical withdrawal."
If anything good had ever come from having his prosthetic arm after armor had breached whilr boarding a Tholian Tarantula, it was the increased strength it offered. Of course that hadn't helped much when the left side of his skull had shattered.

Veel'Riz turned away from the window as the Paladin dreadnought and Justice class cruisers appeared dropping out of transwarp... Splitting up had been an error, his failure to scan for life signs had been in error... An error for which the men and women behind him had paid dearly.

Of course now he had direct proof that the enemy had temporal technology. He could not afford a similar mistake.

"I bear responsibility for the losses we've sustained..." He began. "The Nukara system is now out of the question, unless we find a gap in the defenses, we'd never get into transporter range- let alone find and rescue our target."

He sat down on his damaged and leaning chair. "Captain Obek, did any Reman or other telepathic crewmembers sense anything from the Terran Admiral?"

"The back of his mind, had a deep seated concern for Batazed." the new captain of Blackwind responded.

"Appear where you are not expected... Attack what your enemies will be forced to protect..." Veel'Riz clasped his hands infront of his face. "If this works we may be able to draw enough of the Terran ships away from Nukara long enough for small team to get in,  and out. We'll use one of our ally's fighters for that, Subspace cloak and transwarp capabilities will be crucial."

"Wouldn't it make more sense to make a small stealth strike on Terra Prime?"

"Transport some plasma bombs to several imperial world's on route to our true distraction. Terra will be one of them... The point is remain inconspicuous, try to make it look like the Klingons if possible. But also making a line of systems, on the way... To our next destination- throw off the scent. I'd rather have a surprise of our own prepared. Then we wait at Batazed and allow the Terrans to engage the Alliance. We stay in the shadows for the moment moment."

Seal'Zleacoocroonis entered the room. Most of the occupants noticed his facial spines were missing on one side of his blue head. "Sorry for being late." He looked at Veel'Riz mentally observing what he'd missed. "A sound although risky plan, but I see little other choice aside from feigning surrender."

"That's plan C... If pretending to run in order to regroup doesn’t work."
"Let's use one of the corvets Iconian gateways to get as close to Vanguard Station (Vault) as possible. Repairs will take, 39 days, and the schematics for the Kronos class will be received at the proper point in history." Veel'Riz smiled realizing that he was giving away the reason  he'd had known about the Terran attack in 2409... Because he'd told himself years prior, and started development of advanced ships before the alliance with the Iconians.

"I want the team heading to Nukara to be our best at advanced close quarters combat training. Everyone else will take part in efforts to draw the empire away from Nukara."

"Anyone who objects to the current plan may do so now, More options are always welcome."

Veel'Riz returned to his quarters, wondering at the return of the yellow hulls on the enemy... He'd have to check the records for Valdez, this one was good. Had he been expected?  More importantly did the Star Union exist in this time line? That could complicate things.
If that wasn't the case he'd just have to salvage parts or return to 2410 in the other universe for repairs.

                          2390, Nukara System-mirror universe.

                          I.S.S. Oudenarde

Admiral Valdez had just finished sending a secure temporal message to 2410. After the savage losses at Archanis, Valdez realised he would need reinforcements to recoup his losses. Looking through the losses, he was trying to assess where he could improve his tactics. "Fight as they fight, they will try and draw us out" he noted in his log.

"Another incursion" Captain Solat as she passed on the latest intelligence report to Valdez. "They're trying to draw us out" replied Valdez. "Making an opponent react to you is a very logical strategy" replied Solat. "Against an inexperienced opponent that would work" Valdez pointed out, "we are not going to react, we employ a scorched earth policy" he calmly said. "In effect we destroy their means of making war, we arm our convoys with temporal defences and Iconian weaponry as well. Enemy gets close and thinks easy kill and then they get a surprise" replied Solat. The meeting was interrupted with a red alert and both officers went to the bridge.

Emerging from a temporal rift, emerged over 300 Andorian Kumari class warships, 150 Vulcan cruisers and ECM ships and what was left of Valdez's forces in 2410. Valdez now commanded a fleet of 500 ships and all were retrofitted with temporal defences and weaponry. It was time to go hunting, his first target was Molindra. The objective was to overrun the system and wipe out the entire planet with biogenic weapons. The fleet set off for Molindra at maximum transwarp. One of the maxims Valdez followed was to destroy an opponent's allies first then attack the weakened enemy.

Arriving in orbit less than 2 hours later, the armada stormed through the defences and soon the orbital defence grids and space facilities were reduced to wreckage as Valdez's fleet took position for orbital strikes. All ships opened fire and soon Molindran cities were burning and all ground facilities wrecked, all torpedoes had been laced with trilithium isotopes to render the planet uninhabitable. Valdez then decided to add one last sting in the assault, "fire the nanoprobe photons, anything not wiped out in the initial assault will be eliminated" he ordered. Oudenarde fired the final spread into Molindra's burning atmosphere.

Content with the result, Valdez called an end to the operation and ordered all ships back to base.

"Lets see how Veel'Riz reacts to this" Valdez said in a cold calm manner, this was an opponent who could match him move for move. "Your move Veel'Riz" he said with a smile.

@thay8472 I've put the Lt Valdez character under Sito's protection. Plus Naynta could help finish her training on her telepathic abilities.

                              2390- Nukara System (Mirror universe)

                              I.S.S. Enterprise

It was a meeting Admiral Valdez needed to be at. Fleet Admiral Sito had called a conference of her top field commanders on the Romulan attacks. Valdez presented the evidence that their new enemy was temporal in nature. "We find this Veel'Riz and eliminate his fleet" said Vice Admiral Naynta Lot. "May I remind you Vice Admiral that is precisely what he wants us to do" pointed out Valdez, "We need to fight this threat indirectly, if we react, he pulls us out of position. I've fought this commander and he damn near killed me, do not underestimate him." he finished with.

Fleet Admiral Sito sat back listening, "We cannot afford to lose sight of our goals here" she said with that air of authority. She said "Valdez because you have recent combat experience against this Romulan, your task is to keep him away from Nukara. When we launch our attack, I need you keeping him busy, Naynta you keep causing the alliance mischief. Let us fight the enemies we each know"

She then dismissed her officers, as Valdez saluted and turned to leave the room, Sito said "Valdez, you'll keep me updated daily on any strategic and tactical matters concerning this Romulan commander", Valdez then asked "permission to speak freely maam?". Sito allowed it, Valdez had served her loyally without question. "Maam, I've got a request.", Sito asked what was the nature of the request. Rather to be indirect about it, he was direct and to the point. "Fleet Admiral, I'm asking as a loyal soldier and as a friend, please could you keep an eye on Trianna?. She's a good officer who's loyal, can you protect her?." Sito seeing that it could affect Valdez's focus on the task at hand allowed the request. "Nathan, may I call you Nathan?" Sito asked informally. Valdez agreed. "Nathan, consider the transfer request of Lt Valdez to the I.S.S. Sutherland approved, I need you focused and you cannot focus if other issues are affecting your judgement." Valdez thanked Sito for her support, he knew Fleet Admiral Sito could not spare ships and crews and deep down he knew this was a campaign he might not come back alive from. Lt Valdez was called into the room, she entered the room and was told that she would not be coming along. "Trianna, If I don't come back, I need you to carry on the family legacy. Serve Fleet Admiral Sito as loyally I've served her." Trianna understood what that meant. She hugged her father possibly for the last time and said "With your shield or on it".

Back on the Oudenarde, Admiral Valdez picked out his next target, he knew Veel'Riz needed supplies and that most of Battle group Scythe was badly damaged. The convoy trick would not work again so he went with a more creative solution. He would encourage an attack on his lines and then wrap around it's flanks. Valdez ordered his fleet o go to red alert and set course for Archanis. One hour later, the fleet arrived.

On the same battlefield he deployed his forces, his 50 Terran dreadnoughts and battleships would his centre with 100 Vulcan cruisers also taking position in the centre, the ECM ships were positioned behind the centre. 150 Andorian warships were in each flanking wing hidden from sight with phased cloaks. All Valdez now did was wait for his opponent after giving off a fake distress signal and all ships hiding their energy signatures.

Veel'Riz soon responded, he suspected a trap. there was another military convoy passing through but this time they were rigged with fake life signs and their cores were set to go critical the moment the Romulans appeared.

Sure enough Veel'Riz appeared and battle group Scythe decloaked, the transports all detonated their cores blinding the Romulan sensors as Valdez launched his attack. Battle group Scythe counter-attacked straight into Valdez's centre as Valdez slowly withdrew further into his own lines. Battle group Scythe was being drawn into a trap. The Vulcan ECM ships kept up the constant sensor jamming as the centre was being pushed. At this moment, Valdez ordered the flanks to engage and the Andorians swept into the Romulan fleet.

Veel'Riz withdrew his counter-attack and reformed his line. "Target the Terran flagship" ordered Veel'riz and the Romulan Union fleet advanced. Oudenarde was now the focus of the Romulan assault. "Shields reduced to 70%" reported Oudenarde's tactical officer Lt Corspa. "Keep firing" ordered Valdez. Valdez now formed his ships into 3 columns and ordered the counter-attack into the Romulan fleet. For the next two hours, both fleets pounded each other with neither side willing to give way.

The Oudenarde and the Phoenix were soon exchanging broadsides at point blank range. Oudenarde then took a fatal hit as it delivered a fatal hit on the Phoenix. Oudenarde was hit in the secondary hull and soon the core coolant started leaking into engineering. Imozel ordered an evacuation and reported to the bridge that the Oudenarde had minutes to live. The battle bridge on the Oudenarde was a scene of horror as dead and injured crew were sprawled all over the room. Admiral Valdez was holding his stomach as medical personnel treated him, though it was too late. A piece of shrapnel had gone through his chest and spine, Valdez knew he was doomed and gave the order to abandon ship.

Captain Solat tried to convince Valdez to go. "Solat, keep the crew safe, you are now in command". Krasnova and Flores volunteered to stay behind, "You stay, we stay" they both said. Valdez ordered them to evacuate anyway. "You're both young and you've got the best years of your life, now go" he shouted to them, they saluted and were the last people to leave the ship. "Computer, transfer all helm and tactical control to helm" ordered Valdez fighting through all the pain and agony. Valdez now set a collision course for the Phoenix firing all the way as fires were blazing out of control. "If I'm going down, I'm taking you with me" Valdez said as the Oudenarde collided with the Phoenix. At that moment the Oudenarde's core went critical and both ships were caught in a massive subspace explosion. Veel'Riz was forced to retreat in a shuttle as the rest of the Romulan fleet decided they'd had enough and withdrew.

Valdez had won a decisive victory but at the cost of his own life. Back at Nukara, all of Valdez's crews mourned their lost commanding officer. Trianna knew from the looks on Battle Group Inquisitor's crew that something had happened. Lt Valdez asked "where was the Oudenarde". Lt Cmd Flores told Lt Valdez to sit down and opened up a bottle of whiskey. "The admiral stayed behind to cover our escape pods and evac shuttles, we owe him our lives. He rammed his ship into the Romulan flagship forcing them to retreat." Flores said trying to hold back the tears. Trianna now realised she was alone without any family. Out of respect for their fallen commander, the Oudenarde survivors all decided to adopt Trianna Valdez as a little sister.

Solat was now a rear admiral, she was Battle Group Inquisitor's new commanding officer. She knew all her crews and raised her flag on the I.S.S. Blenheim, the Odyssey Class Dreadnought Valdez had dry docked. When it was relaunched with the survivors of the Oudenarde as crew, Solat and the crew got permission to rechristen the ship to I.S.S. Valdez in honor of their fallen commander.

                                "Star-Commanders personal log:
What remains of my force arrived at Vanguard Station in the past, without incident, I've prevented my own assassination and fulfilled a predestination paradox. I've allowed my troops to relax, here within the fortress, provided they obey temporal regulations- they've earned it. However over the last week, the news has been ill-received by all of who remain... Although shows a possible advantage over this Valdez... It's been many years since I've had an opponent like this Admiral, I'd forgotten this feeling of respect towards an adversary.

Yesterday at 0300 hours, the Molindran crews all suddenly started screaming- every last one of them, a few even lost consciousness . I found myself being thrown to the ceiling of the G.S.S. Tide by one of their telekinetic abilities, as a crack began appearing in the floor. I quickly ordered an emergency transport of all RDF officers off their ships.

The mental shearing caused extreme hull stress before their computers started flooding their ships with calming gas. I've had Captain Gek'ool of the Guardian Star cruiser Tide meet me now that his people have calmed down and the Paladin class has departed saying only they'd return within two days. That was nearly 46 hours ago.

Gek'Ool explained his people had been effected by a mental scream- well thousands of them... We'd assumed that any Molindrans in this universe would have hidden their planets and stars in Subspace when their home world fell. Apparently this wasn't the case in my reality. The Captain tells me that the cry of fear would have reached the whole of the Galaxy within seconds, even many Remans say they heard it. Molindra- a colony world in the Prime Universe far from New-Valrikith apparently became more heavily inhabited in this realm. Though it seems the population were either unable or, refused to use their mental powers for defensive or offensive purposes. The weakest Molindran in the other reality could crush an escort with their mind- I've seen a group of three dismantle a Iconian dreadnought!"

Veel'Riz looked down at his desk as the Molindran ship returned, entering one of the massive hanger bays of the space station. He quickly requested the Captains presence on the Phoenix.

The Molindran sat down, his knee caps awkwardly sticking up visibly over the desk, as he lowered into the chair clearly not meant for a being of his species average height. Veel'Riz still had to look up as he gave his report and held a small thumb size crystal in front of him. "Every man, woman and, child on Molindra is dead... Their whole ecosystem wiped out... Even those who lived in deep oceanic cities... There... There is no curse I can give to... To..."

"Take your time...." The Romulan said.

The crystal was placed on his desk. "This is a data archive, for lack of a better word. It would keep track of the entire colony's history. The attack was accomplished under Terran command. It appears they couldn't cloak the star or planet in Subspace for protection due to the star not meeting the required energy output, but... What they were building underneath the crust.... You call the Paladin class a dreadnought when basing it off galactic average; my people consider them heavy battleships." Veel'Riz raised and eyebrow, as the Captain continued and gave him a PADD. "I haven't seen a Celestial class since the we left our home world."

                                Celestial class information:

                                Celestial class
                                Type: Dreadnought
                                Length: 2,650 meters
                                Crew: 34,000
Auxiliary craft: 52 Cascade heavy fighters
                                Top speed: transwarp 47

                                Subspace cloaking device
                                Subspace wormhole generator (deflector)

                                Defenses:
Primary Covariant shield, secondly resilient shields, tertiary shields
                                1.2 meter nuetronium armor

                                Weapons
                                8 Quantum singularity torpedo tubes
                                - 3 forward and 3 aft
                                -1 port and 1 starboard

                                42 phased chroniton beam banks
                                8 phased chroniton heavy turrets
                                Psionic Lance

Veel'Riz balked at what he was seeing... Regardless of it's power- one ship wasn't going to make a difference, but it could help with one last plan he had in mind. "Can you gain access to the vessel?" Veel'Riz inquired.

"It will take approximately one day to break through the hanger doors, they were welded shut from orbital bombardment... My ship also encountered and engaged a small Terran squadron, only one ship escaped and was heavily damaged. We found one prisioner in an escape pod. I will be seeing what information his memory holds, as he's refused to cooperate willing. I will provide a report on everything he knows about this Nukara system, before I depart for Molindra once more."

                                "Thank you."

Once he was alone the aging Romulan took out a temporal communication device. "Veel'Riz to Captain Walker, I have need of-"
Walker transported into the ready room. "You agreed not to activate that unless you were unable to rescue the Commander, Veel'Riz." Walker began, "As I mentioned before the Galactic Union is at war, and the Wol'oop is..." He noticed the scowl Veel'Riz was giving him.
Veel'Riz placed his palms on the desk, leaned over and stared the human in the eyes. "My mission... Is to ensure that the package is returned to the prime universe in order to prevent the Terrans from learning the location of New Val'Rikith, and what remains of the Romulan Star Union. Not to preserve your Galactic Federation or-!"

Walker's counter was to the point. "The GU's survival is your peoples survival Star-Commander. Your people, and the Molindrans futures. If you are sincere about your hopes for your people starting a new life in my universe, then consider their long-term survival. Think of it as a home."

Veel'Riz sighed in defeat, and stood up to gaze out the viewport at the thousands of work drones, and industrial replicators. "Alright... But you either get me exactly what I want, or find another way to accomplish your goal Captain..." He turned and began pacing the length of the room. "The Terrans didn't take the bait, further more by attacking the Molindrans in this reality, we can assume that they've made the assumption the ones they've been fighting are native to this universe. Not only does this give us the advantage of surprise, it shows that most Terrans may be fully unaware of the prisoner they are holding, and thus the purpose of our mission... I wonder if they realized they'd been fighting a species nearly as old as the Iconians? It would've been more like the empire- in my experience- to enslave a species that produces Metaphasic radiation... Stop the aging process, hehe,I'd take that. As for Nukara, the Romulan Star Union wasn't on good terms with the Tholians- stealing our ships and crews. With luck they may think we don't know Nukara serves as the Terran center of operations."

"Get to the point please... What do want?" Walker ordered, now worried how high the Reapers demand would be.

"What little reinforcements I'll get here, won't be enough to get into Nukara sector, let alone the system... First I want Vanguard Station from 2410 transported into this universe and Era... And yes that will involve a small amount of OMEGA particles- the station has an Iconian generator as a backup as you know...."

He started laying out the rest of his plan....

The Imperials would doubtlessly pick up the appearance of the Vanguard and the stable omega reaction; especially if the location was a populated system. The Vanguard would then offload as many warbirds as possible within an hour before being returned to its previous location. His estimate was anywhere between 3000- 4500 ships. Not to mention it would be a perfect opportunity for the prisoners they'd rescued to be offloaded. Time would be short, but he had faith in his troops.

In preparation for that he'd lay a cloaked minefield in that area, and leave 500 ships in the area of the starbase while the rest set course for Nukara. The best way to fight an enemy was to defeat them with out fighting... Or preventing them from fighting back.
The vessels would be split into their squadrons and would use his "Scourge of Doom" tactics. Warbirds would be assigned to a group of 5-7 others where they would alternate attack runs against enemy targets and covering the others while cloaked. Tactical and helm officers would have a difficult task coordinating their own groups, and the overall actions the fleet.... Finally 15% of his total force would remain cloaked intending to come down on the enemy.

"I'm not sure whether to call you a madman or genius Veel'Riz... I'm not making any promises on that."

"You want this done- I'll do it my way, and I need reinforcements."

"I'll bring the ships you split off from when you first crossed the mirror, along with two more Molindran battleships... And weren't you provided with 100 or so Phalanx cruisers?"

"...Yes... They're outdated, by modern standards, and will only see a another eight years of service before they're all... retrofitted. Ah a fair point Walker, a fair point. Good-bye."

Over the next hour Veel'Riz gone over the latest intelligence report... The ISS Oudenarde- now the universe was mocking him.. That was the one name he'd never forget. He'd never known who lead the defense of the Vulcan sector in 2409- in his timeline anyway... He'd gone in intending to use the fear of the title his enemies had given him to bolster the effects of his counterattack and halt the Terran offensive... Only to face the same kind of calculated approach to warfare he employed from his enemies. He'd lost his son to that faceless opponent that had matched him move for move on the proverbial "chess board."

He wasn't ready to move against Nukara yet... But for now Battle group Scythe would resume picking off targets of opportunity.

@zionus0 Veel'Riz must be having a very bad day, so far his campaign has been hit by setbacks and an opponent who could match him. Valdez's successor is equally skilled, she learnt from Valdez the art of war.

From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

That post takes place before you last edit. I just noticed the change. I had the same thought of a collision!
Well Veel'Riz wife was a Vulcan so, that could be an interesting meeting.
