Need some help to find a T5/T6 Ship for my play style (PS4)

Hello, I am nearing level 50, and I have 3000 Zen, I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for a ship (Starfleet Federation). My play style that I like to use for ships is good speed, excellent turn rate, or Hull HP, and weapon slots, not too much into auxiliary powers. I have already purchased the Intrepid bundle, but I am interested in one of three ship types, Multi-Mission Explorer, Odyssey, or Andorian Class. Also I am part of a Fleet as well but haven't gotten to go into that sort of thing yet. Thank you guys for your help.

Well if you're not into "auxiliary powers" then the Multi-Mission Explorer is out since its a sci ship and the weapons it comes with use aux power. As for your other specifications, you're describing that you like both cruisers and escorts which play very different. Escorts, like the Andorian ships are quick and maneuverable, but have low HP and one less weapon slot than cruisers. Cruisers, like the Odyssey, are the opposite, they're slow and turn slower than an entire galaxy, but are tough and have eight weapon slots. So it comes down to what you would rather do, zip around dealing lots of damage, or go in with a slow behemoth taking as much damage as you put out. It also comes down the the console abilities, take a look at them and see if any of them are to your liking.

Anyone want to give me a Temporal Heavy Dreadnought pack? I'll be your friend :D

thanks for the advice, well see, I do love the intrepid class ships and I grew quite fond of them, and then for my free T5 ship I got the large Star cruiser, but I found myself not really liking the poor turn base, even with the extra turn rate console abilities. thanks for the advise. Also do any of the Federation ships allow dual cannons, or do any of the Androian Ships allow those, I was just wondering I got some really good pickups for dual cannons recently.

Cannons will work on any Escort class ship, I've flown a few of those I liked, but to be honest I prefer tanky and only needing to face them for the torpedoes I used on my beam ships. Right now I am just cycling through ships for those traits, I don't know where I will end up but likely one of these Temporal carriers.

Sounds like you want a Battle Cruiser. Faster than your cruiser, but also much more durable than an escort. Can mount dual/quad/dual heavy/ cannons too.

Unfortunately PS4 only has the T5 Avenger right now in that category for Feds, it's a good ship, however it has a successor on PC with the T6 Arbiter. The Arbiter is the next form of the Avenger, and has one of the more powerful traits in the game for anyone using energy weapons and Emergency Power to Weapons ability(those two go hand in hand whenever possible), and a more flexible bridge officer layout and a rather nice Intel hybrid Bridge Officer slot. Which means it might be better to wait for the Arbiter, particularly if you want the scaling hull that T5-U/T6 offers (your hull hitpoints go up as you increase in level, up to level 60) which, unless they give out free Upgrade tokens for T5s (on PC that only happens for ship sales) costs a bit on top of the T5 cost of 2500Z.

The closest fit here is the Andorian Escort. Personally, I wouldn't bother with any Tier 5 ships anymore, unless you want a console item or access to the ship costume on the T6 variant of the ship.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.

Thanks for the advice, to all of you. Yes I did go with the Andorian Escort, and with the various engineer, tactical, and science powers my crew has, this thing is amazing, zipping around the deep space encounters, destroying enemy ships within a few burst is great. If I get more gold, I'll probably wait to see if they add more ships to the ship store for PS4. Thanks again.

Its a brilliant ship I went for the Charal variant as it provided a more balanced bridge officer set up imo

I have both an advanced escort and an advanced cruiser. While I love my escort, I mainly use a cannon load out and just try to crank out as much damage as I can. Which is kind of fun, but the cannons have a really small firing arc, which means I pretty much have to be facing enemies at all times.

The Cruiser on the other hand I can deal out slightly less damage, but do more over all because I am constantly firing beams and rarely have to be facing the enemies. So it all comes down to what you like. Personally, i'd say get bot and change it when you want to. Sometimes I feel like playing with my escort, other times, playing with my Cruiser.

TL:DR. Escorts are great for speed and maximum burst damage, while Cruisers are good and tanky and have a good medium, consistent damage.

So the Andorian is a cool ship. If you find yourself looking for something new down the road, in addition to battle cruisers as mentioned above consider destroyer class ships and heavy escorts. Both are slower than your Andorian, but have more hull and can still rock cannons. The heavy escorts get fighters but do a bit less damage by themselves.
