Shuttles and Consoles (Console Version)

I did a quick search of the forums and didn't see anything mention this so I felt I'd ask. I recently bought a D'Kyr (love it, by the way) and am in the process of fitting it with consoles when I decided to give the Tal'Kyr some love. Using Twin Beam Phasers (cause I love that old school look and sound) so I want fit both ship and shuttle with their own Phaser Relay consoles... or at least that's the plan. I bought two, put one on the ship but in putting the other on the shuttle it gets a boundary with a ship icon in the upper left. I surmise this is the symbol that means it's equipped on another ship but I'm not trying to fit the one on the D'Kyr. I've done near everything I can think of, from upgrading one of the phaser relays to playing with loadouts, the shuttle refuses to actually equip the console even with it removed from the ship. Is there something I'm missing, like some master list of shuttle-friendly consoles or something?

Once you switch to your shuttle the console will be equipped on that shuttle and when you move back to your ship it will be moved back to it as well. That works for all ships and items.

Hmm, seems the PS4 version doesn't quite work like that. So I take the shuttle out, equip the parts I want, save a loadout, reload the loadout and the phaser relay unequips itself. It never loses the border with the ship icon. Are phaser relays allowed on shuttles?

Yes they are. It should equip if your actually in that shuttle at the time.

It doesn't seem to work with either of my tactical consoles, even after unequipping them from the starship. One could almost say that the game, at least the PS4 version, doesn't recognize that there's a tactical console slot... A real kicker, that.

You might have noticed that you haven't got any crew stations on your shuttle. At least, on the shuttle I got given on XBox, it has no crew stations, and thus I could only equip the one console that matched my class, as I am the only person on board when its being flown! Each console needs a crew station assigned for it to work you see.

Some of the shuttles DO have crew stations, but quite a few don't, so you can only put in the console for your class.

Crew stations are unrelated to consoles. What the problem is here is that it looks like shuttles have three console slots, when infact they only have one. It's a Universal console slot (a slot you can put any console into) but they implemented it wierd. Instead of showing just one slot and letting us put any console in it, we're given one of each slot but only allowed to use one at any given time.

The second console won't equip properly because there's another console already equipped. Remove that and you'll be able to slot the second console but you can still only have one equipped.

Check out the Type 8 Shuttlecraft at the ship store on Spacedock - it says 1 for consoles, and there's a symbol that means Universal.

Actually, the shuttles show the console slots as themed similar to ships. My Tal'Kyr shows 1 engineering console, 2 science and 1 tactical. I can fit the engineering and science consoles fine, but the tactical slot doesn't want to accept the consoles I want to fit. But, it seems whoever localized this game dropped the ball in more than just this area. There's at least one mission in Sphere Space that's nigh impossible to complete.

Not sure about the Tal'Kyr. My experience is with the Type 8 Shuttlecraft, the only free shuttle for Feds, and until I figured out what was going on I was encountering problems that were identical to how yours sound.

There's no consistency. As I said, you may be seeing extra stations because one's a Universal or something - yet the game doesn't explain that. All you see is a wierd icon in the purchase screen and all those item slots in the shuttles inventory screen. The game simply won't come out and tell you why things refuse to equip properly.

Well, using the Type 8 as an example, it's inventory screen shows it having an engineering, science and tactical console slot each. This does mesh with the stated 3 console slots, but they're themed like those of starships. Still, the game is very terrible at explaining anything, seems a waste of Majel Barrett's voice talents on such useless 'tutorial' tips.

But a Type 8 isn't stated as having 3 slots on console. The Wiki says it should have a single boff slot too and we don't get that, so they have made small changes here and there. Our shuttle purchase screen says the Type 8 has 1 console slot, and there's an icon designating it as a special slot.

When you go to equip the shuttle it looks like you can equip 1 Tactical and 1 Science and 1 Engineering console ie. 3, but in reality the choice is really 1 Tactical OR 1 Science OR 1 Engineering, and the interface does not tell us this. It makes sense those kind of slots may appear on other shuttles/ships too and if they're in tandem with regular slots that's doubly confusing.

Ah, I get you there. Wow, that is very misleading... Would have been easier to just not show the slot themes at all, just have how ever many slots the shuttle actually has and be done with it. Guess that'd be too 'easy'.
