Flight...... General discussion on manueveting

I fly an escort, and to me I should keep impulse at full most if the time, and do quick hits, turn for another pass, then make another run.

Does that affect my weapon power by having my engines at full?

What usually happens though, us that the ahips just go into a turn battle at close range. When what I'm trying to do is quick runs, head on, then turn.... So it's making me think to just run at low impulse, park my ship, and fight like a cruiser.

Anyway, not sure if it's an Xbox thing, but I'm having trouble

I can make passes at times, but most if the time it's a turn battle, and i try to get altitude
Don't think Harley, just shoot dammit.

In my experience, escorts don't have the maneuverability to make strafing runs viable; the Temporal Raider does, and while I don't have much experience with other raiders, I imagine they do, too. I'm not sure what level you're playing at (gameplay really is quite different at endgame from what it's like near the beginning of the game), but an endgame escort should probably be able to destroy (or at least cripple) a target in one pass at 3/4 impulse; that also happens to give you the best turn rate to swing back around if the target survived.

well, weapon power should allways be at max if your primary dmg source are energy weapons. I actually like slow flying escorts better (at least for PVE), leaves more time for the forward weapons to be on target. Idealy, you should be able to have a target in your forward arch the whole duration of your weapons buff, (APbeta, scatter volley, etc...) which lasts normaly 15 seconds.
    Go pro or go home

Unless you're fighting something that chucks area attacks you need to evade (=Vaadwaur), it's generally better to stop or fly at minimum speed and shoot until everything's dead.

Passing the target just means not being able to shoot with your front weapons.

I run most of my ships at 100/25/50/25. I figured higher engine power means higher defence bonus, quicker turn rate, etc. Have pilot as secondary and it makes you quite hard to hit.
