What is wrong with this picture....

in Star Trek Online General Discussion
First I get sheild drained by a CRUISER. Then a ESCORT. Then my aft high yield torpedo doesn't fire. So how does this equal 89 Terran Marks??? Somewhere the math got messed up on this! How can I not claim a cheat here? It is not just this either! Spontanious Hull Integrity drop (no apparent reason) Shields drop (again for no reason) It does'nt scream honesty. For a game that is based on 0-100% hull integrity. ) 0 being dead of course. This hull integrity drop for no reason is beyond suspicous! Then on top of it. Not recieving all marks that are owed. There killing this game. How would they like it if I get 10,000 ZEN for $50 or less? I can tell you that won't fly. (with reason). So why should getting less marks then I am owed? I held my end of the deal (completed all objectives). They need to hold there end of the deal. Wich they are not. Even with gear upgrade they are dishonest. I can buy say 5 Superior Beam Upgrade's. Use 4 of them. Go to upgrade the beam weapon even more just to get greeted with "clear slot". I do think so! There should be more then "clear slot" I had 1 more Superior Beam Upgrade! Even the research accelerators don't work 90% of the time. (basic/major alike)
IT'S HARD NOT TO COMPLAIN WHEN I GET SHOWED EVERY REASON TOO!
Not to say there are not good aspects of this game. There are many. But they get over shadowed by the bad.
All I want is fairness at the very least.

    I believe there is a name for a certain farm animal that explains what you've just said.

    I have NEVER ever seen it rob me of marks. They are always awarded AUTOMATICALLY.

    As for being vaped, believe me it does happen and players do it to other players and NPC's more often than an NPC does. So I ask, if it's fair for players to do so, why is it so unfair when an NPC does it to you!?

    As for accelerators, they ALWAYS apply. And the upgrades give XP, not upgrade attempts. You MUST fill the bar before you can upgrade. Learn to read more!

    In Mirror Invasion, the marks received didn't match the totals in the debriefing that Obisek gave you due to an error in the portals closed portion. The debriefing would state that you got a mark for each portal closed, but you didn't. In earlier versions of the event, there were thresholds for marks from portals, and your final reward was likely still calculated this way this time around. The discrepancy wasn't very large, though, usually only off by under 5 marks that I noticed.

    Shields suddenly going down against Terrans who use phasers is something that you should expect, since plain phasers have the ability to knock a random subsystem offline briefly, including shields.
    This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

    yeah and subs system offline is REALLY common when you have 20 gnats shooting at you. It's usually just a second or two, at least if you have the skill for reducing it. But if one of them decided to fire a torp spread at just the right time....

    The AI does sometimes cheat. Terran separation pets tend to keep attacking you when they should be dead....

    I will have you know that I came into this thread expecting one of those picture puzzles, where you have to find the differences between two images...

    So, I will be leaving now... very unhappy...

    Still trying to make sense of what this guy was even raging about.
    Was it a Pve? A Mission? Was he fighting in Pvp?
    I've read it twice and it still makes no sense.

    Sulu is now located in a very easy to find spot on ESD.

    The game cheats at time, but not to be unfair. Think about it for a second. If the game did 100% what it was supposed to do, people would play to the meta and just go through the motions. How fun would this game be if all it was is "Press A to get X, Press B to get Y, now press C and collect your grand prize of Z"? Pretty boring. The "cheating" adds a certain level of excitement and randomness to the game.

    Now, there are times where it goes overboard. A few times I have had a wall of torps running at me, but I am an engineer, so things work out in the end. But when they crack out the beams I find my shields in the negative percentages quicker than a strike of lightning.

    So I agree with your sentiment that the game sometimes "cheats", but it would go a long way for you to consider what is actually "randomness" and what is "cheating". That is, if you wish to consider it.​​

    I think its to do with the new stf's. The Iconian and Terran ones not only score points for objectives but there are bonus objectives. Like Gre'thor more troop transports than the required 10. Or Counterpoint closing extra portals ect. Maybe there's a flaw in the scoring/math and its not rewarding all the marks ?

    Also I have noticed since the skill revamp dmg resists and hull heals do appear to be a little less effective than pre-revamp. I've noticed using the Impact Defence Specialist gives better resistance to Kinetic dmg than equipping a specialized console for Kinetic dmg, the same with Molecular Defence Specialist this trait was out performing a Epic RCS Console RES B for Plasma Beam resists.

    Maybe the OP has played CCA and the Borg space ones to often where only failing an optional reduces the mark pay out and running the Iconian and Terran ones was bit of shock seeing how poorly they can reward in comparison. And having your hull stripped by Terran FBP. and those Iconian Solar Gateways

    I think it is consoles, I can't speak for X1 but ps4 doesn't have its own forum yet.We have to come here at the moment.
