Avenger class battle cruiser help please

So I just bought the avenger class battle cruiser
It comes with that weird weapon system.
Now my question is this : does it automatically activate? Or what do I need to do in order for it to work. Because I can either not tell that it's working or it is not actually working.
(On Xbox one FYI)

    I assume you mean the VATA system?

    You have to launch it at a target for it to work. It'll launch a pair of heavy torps that will also shoot whilst on the way to their target.
    Exactly how they behave depends on the cruiser command you have active at the time:
    1) It'll shoot tachyon beams if you have the shield frequency command on.
    2) Micro quantum torps with the weapon system efficiency command
    3) It shoots micro chroniton torps with the maneuvering command active.

    That's the problem, I'm on the xbone and it won't show up in my ability selection wheel :/
    I can't equip the ability and therefore I can't fire it :(
    I thought it might happen automatically but I guess not
    Now what :/
    It cost me $30 that ship and part of it doesn't work
    Yay :/

    Outside of what was suggested it sounds like you have encountered a launch week bug.

    Hmm.... not sure then. I don't have STO on Xbox so i just assumed that there'd be a control option to fire it off. I mean a lot of other consoles have clicky abilities and the like so they must have some means of activating.
    And your cruiser commands must have an option to switch them somewhere too?

    If it's a bug then it'll get fixed, that's a pretty glaring problem if half the consoles in the game can't use their special abilities.

    Definitely file a bug report. If you have anything else with activated abilities in space on consoles, it's worth checking to see if it's general.

    I have the team fortress console and it works fine :/
    Just that particular one that doesn't show up anywhere

    Make sure you have the console installed. If you took it off for more armor then it will not show up. Try removing it and adding it back while in sector space. Try removing it then adding it back while in space dock then leave for sector space and see if you can find the ability in the ability list. Maybe try the forum specific to Xbox.

    if it is like the pc version the console is almost useless you would be better off using a console you could get more of a benefit from that is just my own opinion.

    Same problem and have tried all those fixes. Nothing.

    Theshrouded... i appreciate that youre not a fan of this console, but having paid €30 to try it, it would be nice if it actually worked. And seen has how im having the same problem with VATA and the graviton beam generator consoles it would suggest that thisnis a bug. So if it is a bug then simply swithcing to another console woudlnt change anything as theres no guarantee that they would work either!

    Same here on ps4. How do I get data console to work? I paid for this ship based on that.. maybe I should stop buying ships until they make this right.

    yep its bugged but here's a funny thing.

    if you have that torpedo that does nearly the same thing. That pops up in the wheel thing.

    but without it equipped. it's doesn't appear.

    Same here. PS4 user. does not show up on any radial.​​
