Back after absence...quick build advices??

Haven't played in a couple of updates...just curious if anyone can provide or point me to a quick guide to builds with the current system? I.E.: should Engineers stack in engineering? What's ok to skip? What's a must have? etc....

Thanks

You need to be specific in what your looking to accomplish. And probably the sto build thread in reddit could be a good place to start.

I'm using THE Balanced Budget Build for ALL of my Captains because it's a build that supports ... well ... EVERYTHING.

Yes, it's a "generalist" build, but it's also one that lets you switch to any ship and any set of weapons and BOff seats without regrets or remorse. It's also been somewhat wildly successful for me, so no reason why it can't work for you too.

The game is pretty much all about dealing damage. Unfortunately heavy investments into the engineering skill tree do not help that much there. Sci is interesting but I found going full tac to be most efficient on my characters, no matter their career.

You get some good advice in the following link:

It should also be noted that for most PVE missions neglecting investments in self-defense is not that much of an issue as a lot of the end game gear (like the Ionian space set) or traits (like energy referequencer) compensate well enough to deal with the contend.

So the only reason I dont drop this link all the time is not everyone is into being a DPSer with the specific gear they use for missions..Some people just dont want to be caught up in that mess..I Also prefer the Sci ultimate over the Tac YMMV....However I do use the ground skill layout they provide :P
