This is a grand thread to request changes for all the issues in STO that have been ignored over and over, to be fixed/improved in the next update. This will cover:
- PvP
- Foundry
- DS9 and other map fixes, including mission fixes and voice lines
- KDF federation and Delta Rising storylines
First, I have made multiple posts requesting an update in PvP (discussion
http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline#/discussion/1215632/pvp-keep-or-remove-discussion-support-share-make-it-known/p1 poll
http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline/#/discussion/1215631/pvp-improve-or-remove). After lots of discussion about the topic, I finally came up with a letter-like thing, meant to be sent to Cryptic and reviewed. Here it is:
Dear Cryptic Studios,
I am
@andycman, a player of STO since September 2014. Since I began playing, I saw the game change dramatically, from ESD to the missions to changes with skills, and more. I currently have one level 60 character, one level 51 character, and two characters around level 10-20. I got a Delta recruit during that promotion, and I make a Foundry character to make my own missions. Throughout my playtime, I have obtained many epic items and ships, including multiple universal consoles, unique weapons, a unique crew, and a variety of ships. I have explored lots of STO, including PvE, exploration clusters (before you removed them), ground and space battlezones, and PvP.
Over the time I have played, I saw development in most of these areas. But one area hasn’t been touched since I joined, PvP. The last time I was in a public PvP queue, the enemy ship was so overpowering, they were literally spawn camping us. I have played in private queues with my friends, and we had lots of fun. Now, PvP is very abandoned. I can’t get into a full queue without having to wait perhaps all day.
I decided that I wanted to see a change in PvP lately. So, I have collected input from other dedicated STO players in the forum. Here, I made a poll to see whether people wanted PvP to be improved, removed, or kept the same:
http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline/#/discussion/1215631/pvp-improve-or-remove/p1. According to the results (as of 5/30/2016), 49 out of 78 people who voted want to see PvP improve, 22 people want it to be removed, and 7 people want it to stay the same. Although these votes may not represent everyone who plays, few people like the way PvP currently is. In another discussion,
http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline/#/discussion/1215632/pvp-keep-or-remove-discussion, many players interested in PvP discussed the current state of PvP. They mentioned that it is broken, will become a serious issue soon with console players, needs balancing, and more. They also mentioned how you, Cryptic, are reluctant on doing anything with PvP. Feel free to take a look at both discussions.
I, as well as many other players, would like to see PvP improved. I think that an improvement in PvP would not only make players happier, it would also add another great feature to the game that could attract more players who prefer PvP over PvE. Keeping PvP the same will only be a symbol of how much Cryptic cares about their players with a (minor) aspect of the game, especially with the game going to consoles soon. PvP is currently a minor, outdated part of the game, possibly the oldest aspect that hasn’t been updated or removed in a long while. Improving PvP could attract more players, make players happier, give players something to improve towards, and could become a new endgame feature, like reputation or PvE queues. If PvP were to be improved, it should include new game modes, maps, and team/player balancing.
Another option I included in my poll above is to remove PvP. Another feature that was added in STO early on and ignored until it was removed was exploration clusters. These, similar to PvP, were broken and often ignored, so you, Cryptic, removed from the game and replaced them with Doff stuff. The current PvP is only putting a bad reputation on you, Cryptic, and removing PvP, although it might not be as good as improving, could remove a bad aspect currently in the game.
As a player of STO, I do not have control of what you, Cryptic, will do with the game. I, as well as many other players, am asking you consider doing something with PvP, whether that is removing or improving, for your own benefit and the benefit of players.
From,
@andycman
Next, I would like to address the foundry. Not as abandonded as PvP, the Foundry is still quite an active part of STO. However, it is glitchy, outdated, and has many other issues. I made another post, about making a new Foundry (
http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline#/discussion/1219408/new-foundry/p1). Go thru it and see what you think.
Next, I would like to mention map/episode issues, especially DS9. Before the revamp of Cardassian Struggle, I made a post mentioning issues of DS9, but the post had little feedback. Here is what I said:
First, I don't know about you, but I noticed that when I'm editing my ship at DS9, there is a random woman walking around randomly, probably jumping around on tables, doing stretches, and coughing around that area (without completing most animations). I have no idea what's up with her. There is also a bartender on the third floor of Quark's bar that randomly coughs and checks her invisible watch without completing the animation. There are probably a few others throughout DS9 that are like that. Please fix.
Second, there is a door with a window in the promenade (probably the security office) that constantly glitches up. Unless you look through the glass at a certain angle or something, you would see outside the station (and the wormhole, if it's active). Otherwise, you would see a wall.
Third, this probably came up more than once, but the layout of DS9 isn't right. It's mostly the fact that you have to go into another map to get to Quark's, instead of it being open on the second and third floors of the promenade, however there are also other features that might be harder to do, like adding the doctor's office and the spiral staircase in the promenade and Quarks.
My best idea to fix all this is to completely redesign DS9 in season 11+. Also, this might not fit in these forums, but the Cardassian Struggle missions don't really follow much of a storyline. I'd recommend doing something similar to what you did with the Romulan missions with the Cardassian missions: combine missions into 5 not including Facility 2048, Of Bajor, Operation Gamma, Boldly They Rode, and Second Wave (like combining all the mirror universe missions, ect.), then tie it with something that happened in the STO timeline (like the creation of the True Way).
One last thing: could you make Operation Gamma easier? The beginning is extremely difficult when playing by yourself.
Map redoing not only applies to DS9, but also to other commonly played maps, and other episode issues. Most of these issues are small, but would impact the game greatly. Voice acting, being improved greatly the past few seasons, still would be nice in some older parts of STO. If Cryptic can't get the original voice actor for a character that was voice acted, Cryptic doesn't have to fake it (don't do what EA did with Darth Vader in Battlefront).
Last, I would like to address storylines, especially Klingon War (federation) and Delta Quadrant (cross-faction). These storylines have many, many episodes, including ones with issues like mentioned above. Cardassian Struggle and Romulan Mystery both got a re-do, and the same should be applied to Klingon War and Delta Quadrant. Also, probably not when all of the above is updated, but later, shift the storyline into the Gamma Quadrant; It is the only quadrant without explorable space.
If you are interested, reply with feedback and other stuff you would like to see along with this. Support this if you want to see most of these updates in possibly season 12-13. The more comments and views, the more likely Cryptic would consider this.
@ some Cryptic employees to this so they can see it.
A lot of changes are just a few tweaks; I think Cryptic could fix these issues easily and make the game even greater again! (no political reference)

i wouild like to see my fed captians lead orionians and other faction away team as part of fun crazy weekend event.
same for klingon captians lead fed faction away team
I think the OP was actually going for the whole shortening of the arc. The Klingon arc (which includes Spectres mixed in where Klingons and Romulans have it separate) and the Delta Quadrant Arc (with the repeatable missions and the patrol mission wrappers) are the two longest story arcs.
I have to break it to you OP, but the Klingon arc has indeed already seen the revamp. Season 8.5 was the revamp where cryptic went through, added cutscenes, spruced up the maps and simplified some encounters. We even had the loss of "War is good for Business" as it didn't exactly fit.
The Delta Quadrant storyline is recent and although many probably hate the fact that they did patrol mission wrappers as "episodes", they're not going to change it. If anything, on tribble, they're adding the Kobali storyline to the arc which will make it a bit longer.
Arcs that I feel should get revamps in my opinion are actually above, but I have two additional episodes to add: "Second Star to the Right, Straight on till morning" and "Keep Your Enemies Closer"
These two episodes were introduced around season 2 and use old assets, no voices and are frankly in need of an update.
(sorry, could not resist).
What about the other things I mentioned, like PvP and maps? What do you think about those?
Also, can someone @ some Cryptic employees into this so this doesn't go unnoticed?

EPIC SCREENSHOTS
I read a great post today on Reddit STO, about Joshua "Thunderfist" Riker, and how console players will never know the glory that is that mission. Did I say glory? I meant length.
Seriously though, I wouldn't mind seeing some more of the foundry missions take up the slack on some of the story lines. I know there are a few out there , but maybe if Cryptic promoted those more, it would help a lot as far as immersion.
I believe this has to do with Cryptic solving an old problem of spamming the forums, by limiting the users ability to start a new thread, until they had a higher post count. Right now, I'm seeing 2 posts by your name.
That being said, and if the OP doesn't mind a minor hijack, I'd be happy to try and help you out.
hmm...cant remember a time when it was great,it just a run of the mill mmo with the star trek ip slapped onto it for money making purposes.
as for fixes how about the known and abandoned fact that Romulan and Reman BOFF missions have disappeared
Put all non-Humans into prison camps. Humanity First!
You sound like a small hand haver.
I personally would like to see the Kelvans form Andromeda in the game. It would be so cool. They are the only other species in Star Trek that are from the Andromeda galaxy besides the Iconians when they were exiled.
I also want to see TAS content. The Animated Series is just as much of Trek as the rest of it. Canon is canon, IP holder calls it canon, so it's canon. It needs a debut in-game, with the Kizinti and romulan uniforms and orion ships and 1st generation Holodeck technology.
Come stand with us in supporting Star Trek: The Animated Series content for STO! (It's canon!) #TASforSTO
Time travel and glass-cannon ships hurt my head and is NOT what Trek is about. Trek is exploration, becoming better as a species, and gaining scientific knowledge while holding on to the traditions that got us where were are.

STO working as intended.
kzinti would be redundant since we have both fed and KDF kitties already, though I suppose they could be explained as yet a third branching of catdom. (Just give them orange fur and put a tribble on their head )
A "Soft Weapon" ground action could be fun, where you're trying to stop thee bad kitties from looting ancient tech for their war on the alliance.
If not rename it to the "Bajoran Struggle" since as it is, its more about the bajorans and MU then anyone.
