Best space set for jem'hadar recon ship

I recently was able to purchase a jem'hadar recon ship from the exchange. I've been thinking of 3 space sets in particular, jem'hadar, iconian, or delta alliance. I plan to upgrade which ever space set I choose to mk 14 URs. Just wanted to know what people thought about these space sets, and also if there is a space set I didn't mention that you would like to recommend. Thanks in advance.

I say jem'hadar set. good set, thematically fitting 3 piece even gets you something they did on the show.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Depends what you are after if you are only interested in the "proper" visual look then by all means slot a full space set in the new visual slots, however it is worth remembering that using console/gear slots just to replicate a look may be detrimental to performance. I would recommend using a "pick n mix" approach to the actual gear in use then using the visual slots to supplement the look, this will allow you to use gear which will compliment the skills/traits etc that you may desire/need but still retain the visual correctness.

Sometimes the benefits of slotting all 3/4 items in a set are such that you are forced to sacrifice an ability that would better serve your needs - to draw an analogue imagine you are a soldier in the field and have been issued with a basic rifle with "iron-sights", one day you find a weapon with a sniper scope but you don't have access to the proper ammo. Is the discovered weapon useless? or can you salvage the sight and adapt your own weapon to use it? Consider a WW2 tommy-gun with a sniper scope - maybe not as accurate as the intended sniper rifle but more accurate than the standard issue weapon.

Iconian is damned hard to beat for a general purpose set. The only reason to run something else is if you're heavily focusing on science, IMHO.

@spiritwalker1969, thank you for your comment, it does make sense what you are saying, kind of let's me know that there are a lot more factors to look at. Also with picking and mixing, are there any space sets you would recommend and what specific equipment to choose?

@vampeiyre, thanks for your input. I been hearing about how well the iconian set is and just may get it as a go to space set when needed

Iconian set is better than the Adapted set?

I see a lot of team benefits, that usually dilutes personal benefits.

I run the Adapted engines and Deflector with the Capx4 shield and the Obelisk Subspace Rift Warp Core.

The Romulan Experimental Impulse Engines are a good choice as they provide a boost to the weapon amplification skill (take care as the New Romulus Rep has both Rom and Reman versions of the space set) and the Reman Shield.

Bio-neural gel pack from Delta Rep, Terran Warp Core and Terran Deflector are also worth looking at.

The Iconian Rep weapons are good to pop in an antiproton build as they give a chance to stack some temporary hit points on your ship, although my own pref is to buy the CritD and CritH versions from the store rather than using the advanced versions from the set which have Acc as standard - if you take them to MkXIV Epic you get an [Ac/Dmg] proc anyway and my own thinking is that I would rather have the critcal chance and/or crit severity proc at basic out the box standard.

I'll post some other gear that fits well with these later, once I have been back in-game to have a look at my main - I'm running the 31stC temporal ships to get the traits at present so most of my usual consoles are sitting on a different ship just now

Edit - My Presidio Command Battlecruiser has the following:
    Iconian Deflector
    Romulan Advanced Prototype Impulse Engines
    Terran Task Force Warp Core
Reman Prototype Covariant Shields (gives the 2-part bonus with the Romulan Impulse Engine) - though I have the Terran shield in the visual slot so it doesn't look like every other ship using the Reman shield.

Regenerative Integrity Field (Command Set - from Kobali cruiser(?)
    Tachyokinetic Convertor (Lobi store)
    Assimilated Module (Omega Rep)
Bioneural Infusion Circuits (Elachi Silent Enemy (?) Set - Lobi store)
M6 Computer (from C-store Temporal Escort)
Temporal Disentanglement Suite (Krenim set - mission reward)
Bio Neural Gel Pack (Delta Rep)
Tac- Vulnerability Locator x4 (Fleet Spire)

This gives a decent boost to the power levels allowing me to run both weapons and Aux high but still have half-decent shield and engine levels. Additionaly the 4 tac consoles provide a handy boost to damage plus better crit chance. The other console provide a decent mix of boosts across the board. Not a world beater - will get 40-45k dps on a good day but this is the ship I always seem to go back to once I have reached the Tier V trait with others.

If you are headed for pve and use an energy weapons centric build I’d upgrade the full ICO space set and nothing else. It’s the perfect all-rounder between defense and offence and has the most potent team benefits there are.

Gz on your ship by the way. I fly the JH Strike Ship ever since it came out and love it. I tried a few different gear constellations on it and wasted quite a bit of Dil on upgrades. I ended up with ICO set which rules them all.

Here is my current setup if interested:

@spiritwalker1969 thanks very much for posting your set up. I am already in the process of getting the bio neural gel pack, I'm also going to check out the other items you posted such as your space set as well as your console setup, like tac vulnerability. I've never had any clue with making a good setup so thank you for posting your set up, it will definitely be helpfully as an outline for my new setup. Thanks again

@peterconnorfirst thank you for mentioning this. I am planning on getting the full set possibly for more than one of my toons, and thanks in regards to my ship. Also congrats to you for getting the strike ship. It is awesome and I do enjoy it a lot. I tried to check out your set up but I can't access it. Do you have another link?

That site can be confusing you need to click on the Square with the bars in it in the upper left-hand corner and then select Starship to view his setup

@thlaylierah, thank you for showing me your setup, it's awesome! I am definitely going to tac vulnerability consoles. How long did it take for you to get all epic? That's my new goal

Upgrading fleet consoles isn’t that tough compared to reput items. One is forced to do the locaters starting from mk12. The nice embassy consoles can and should be purchased at mk10 and upgraded from there. You get much better chances at quality upgrades in lower MKs.

Whatever you do pls wait for the next upgrade weekend to cut the involved dil costs roughly in half. I often prepare for those weekends by manufacturing hundreds of superior upgrade techs in advance and having them at the ready in the bank.

If one upgrades only during those weekends I estimate the overall cost for an all epic space build is around 2-2,5 million dil.

See it as long term goal. Your approach to ask what to upgrade and what not to is a good one. :)

I use the Dyson Shield and Core, then the Kobali Impulse and Deflector...it's a tough build :-)

I would run the Iconian set on everything, if only because it negating system disables makes many enemy types about 100% less annoying.

@peterconnorfirst first thank you for showing me your set up and sorry, I thanked the wrong person. You're set up is awesome, and thank you for the advice for upgrading. It does take a lot of resources so I'll definitely wait for the upgrade weekend and I'll upgrade lower mks for the chance of better rarity. This has become a hobby of mine and definitely want a great build for my ships, so thank you again.

I was waiting for you to see that that was actually PeterConnorfirst's build, I just told you how to access the ship stats on the website.

But I did recommend the adapted set and the 4 cap shield setup for you.
  • nikeixnikeix Member Posts: 3,972 Arc User
My most carefully polished captain uses Counter Command deflector/warp core + Nukara impulse/shield. Lot of good numbers in there.

But Iconian d/i/wc/s is very sound for most energy weapon based builds.
  • jayfresh11jayfresh11 Member Posts: 133 Arc User
@thlaylierah I'm sorry about that mix up. I have an engineering officer that has the Borg space set and the obelisk warp core. I do not have the 4 cap shield. From research I found a shield called the hyper-capacitor shield array. So I'm going to see how much it is on the exchange. Thank you again for letting me know your setup, it works for this character cause I have most of the pieces already.

NP Glad I could recommend something.

I think the 4xcap shield comes from the research tab.
  • jayfresh11jayfresh11 Member Posts: 133 Arc User
@thlaylierah I found the shields on the exchange, besides the [cap]x4 I'm noticing other abilities like [cp/rg] [pla] anything you recommend?
    [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
  • thlaylierahthlaylierah Member Posts: 2,991 Arc User
I prefer the Capx4 because it gives you the most shields of anything else in game.

All those others give you resistances to specific damages.

Regenerate is way too slow on shields thats why you should always go with Covariant shields.
  • jayfresh11jayfresh11 Member Posts: 133 Arc User
@thlaylierah, thanks again for clarifying. I was looking at the ultra rares and they had some other stuff, and they are specific to damage resistance. Thank you again, I am in the process of setting up my characters ship sets, and I'm glad for your suggestion
