I'm playing on Xbox and just started a Science character. I got to 10, got my science vessel, and found Subsystem Targeting defaulted to the B button (B being for Tactical abilities). In holding down B to bring up the Tactical ability menu, I saw a tile for Torpedo: High Yield I, my one Tactical boff ability, but I did not see a tile for the currently selected default ability, Subsystem Targeting (forget which of the four it was, doesn't really matter). I switched the default B action to High Yield I. I now apparently don't have the ability to use Subsystem Targeting or switch that back to the default action, since the only tile in the B menu is High Yield I.
Am I looking in the wrong place, or is this bugged? Because I've checked all the other action button menus, and they're not there, either. I hope I'm just missing something, because if I'm not, then apparently, science vessels currently lack the ability to use subsystem targeting on consoles (Xbox, at least).
I'm going to go ahead and bump this once. I never bump my own threads, but this seems like a pretty major issue.
I mean, one of the main features of science vessels is subsystem targeting. Being unable to use that is, in my opinion, something that needs to be addressed - if that is, in fact, the case.
I've looked in all the ability menus, didn't see it. However, it's a tactical ability, so I'd expect it to be in the B menu. Also, as I noted in my original post, I did see the ability for a short time, on the B button.
I would think it would be easier to make custom maps for abilities to the buttons you want them at, for example, A tac may want Torp HY, Scatter Volley, and tac team one on each button A,B, X for example. But the way it's set up, you are forced to have science on one, engi on one, and tac on another.
What about ships with 2 or more separate power trays, like the Dyson Science Destroyer, Intel Ships, and carriers? How is the carrier pets going to be handled with their commands on top of all your other commands?
