(PS4) Random Initial Thoughts.

Random initial thoughts. I'm on PS4.

1)Space Combat is HELLA FUN. Its a lot more fun than I expected it to be. I've had several pulse-pounding "oh TRIBBLE wtf is going on what hit me" moments in combat, but its also paced well enough that i have had time to recover from those, which is nice.

2)Ground Combat is pretty good so far. But not nearly as fun as Space is. I don't like the tab-target mechanic on L2 though. Rather it just be a straight ADS free-aim. Otherwise, Ground Combat is pretty nice.

3)The control scheme really works very well, especially in Space. Even without setting the auto-use on skills, they are really easy to manually use from the radial menus, imo.

4)God, after the starter ship, Warbirds are SEXY. Best-looking ships in the game easy. All the Federation ships that I have seen look like Frogs.

5)Not sure if it is a good or bad thing that Romulan Republic NPCs don't acknowledge that my character is Reman and not Romulan. On one hand, it's obviously a game mechanic or writing limitation. On the other hand, I can look at it like the RR people treat Remans equally rather than just a slave caste.

6) Romulan Republic uniforms are confusing. They kinda don't even look like Uniforms at all. I'd like to get the official colors and such for my Bridge Officers and Ship Crew, just so everything matches.

7) Tovan's not as bad as people made him out to be. Yeah, He pops up in convos, but i've already had several moments where he said "no we shouldn't do this, we should go to this instead" and my character basically said "STFU and do what I said".

8)The Tab-Target, both on Ground and in Space, is pretty wonky. Sometimes I find myself rapidly switching targets randomly, especially in space.

9)When are we going to get our own forums on the PS4 and Xbox tabs?

    5) It is a writing limitation. though fundamentally, they can recognize your faction and species. But they don't always (or rather: they rarely) make it. But Remans are also definitely not a slave race in the Republic. That wouldn't fly, the Remans have really no reason to accept that anymore. And the rest is spoilers. :)

    6) I am not aware of really official guidelines. It seems to me the whole uniform thing might actually be a bit intentional - the Republic is so newly formed that they haven't really done the work to make those uniforms actually uniform.

    9) Good question. But it could be that especially for the start, they want the players of the different platforms t mingle, so that the PC players can give all the good advice. That said; I believe the German forums already have some console subforums. (Which probably won't help you.)

I'm still an early starter to the console game, though I would agree space combat seems good so far. My only quibble is he zoom on smaller (Miranda type) ships. I'd like to get in a little closer.

This is an issue on the PC version of the game too.

The Germans managed to create special categories for XBox and PS4 though. It can't be that hard.

I'm having a couple of problems with it , I don't like the cycle camera thing on space and ground , I want to be able to move the ship/character to a distance I'm comfortable with , my main problem though is the left stick control , up should mean up and down should be down not the other way around , I cant find anything in the options to reverse this , I find it really tricky to control my ship , I try to turn and instead find that I'm diving down .

It's moulded after a cockpit joystick. Pulling back takes you up, pushing forward sends you down. You can (could) change this on PC, as I did, but share your concern if you can't do so on the console. I'll adjust, I'm sure, but it would be nice if we could change it. I did think I saw an option for it yesterday, I'll have to have another look.

it has taken some getting used to, that's for sure.

but the way you explained it makes sense.
