Okay first of all let me preface this by saying that there are currently no console forums. Now with that out of the way I shall begin:
The lighting effects and overall graphics are beautiful on the ps4.
Unfortunately that is the best thing about the console version. From the very beginning I noticed that the xp rewards were nerfed substantially from the pc version. Usually get out of the tutorial with lvl 5 almost 6 on the pc on the console I was a whopping lvl 3. I figured to myself "Hey they are just trying to drag out the leveling in order to give newer players a chance on how the game works. With that in mind I continued to play and noticed how bare bones this version ACTUALLY is.
NO DOFF SYSTEM
NO R&D SYSTEM
CANT VISIT THE LOWER DECKS OF YOUR SHIP
NERFED XP GAINS
CANT MANUALLY ALTER POWER LEVELS
IN SECTOR SPACE CANT ZOOM IN ON YOUR SHIP TO GET A GOOD LOOK AT IT
CANT SEE A NUMERICAL REPRESENTATION OF YOUR HULL ON THE HUD
CANT SEE WHAT YOUR CURRENT SPEED IS IN SECTOR/SYSTEM SPACE
Now I have had people in game tell me to stop complaining. That the r&d system was unnecessary etc. But I for one prefer to have the same weapon/energy type as opposed to a rainbow boat. As it stands now the ONLY way to effectively have a ship build is to pray to rngeezus for drops on consoles, weapons, etc. To my fellow gamers that may be tempted to try it out on console. Don't spend any real life money on this game. It would be a total waste with the state it is currently in

There’s more to come. We’ll be releasing more exciting gameplay and content in future updates, including:
Im just saying that its bs that we have to run around with gimped ships on the console version till GOD KNOWS WHEN
- Is the exchange running yet? Get a matched set of something cheap like Tetryon?
- Can you buy white gear on ESD?
You can always buy a T1 connie if it's in the store and get the level-up phasers that go to XII CtrH Dmg (on PC anyway, maybe not without the R&D system...)
Does the dil shop sell Andorian phasers for the light escort?
Besides, we all are so awesome that we can do endgame content in a T1 ship with white gear anyway, right?
They also said some of the systems like the DOFF, R+D, Fleet Holdings will be rolled out in stages, which is a smart move keeps new players coming back to check out the new* content.
I'm also trying to find if there's a way to set my torpedoes to autofire. I can live with it if there isn't, but it'd be nice.
Now it makes a lot more sense why they were against PC Transfers and this whole Fresh Start TRIBBLE. PC Transfers would of lost ALOT switching over and it would of been a PR disaster for them.
Except if players from PC are on Console now. Then obviously they fall within that group as well. Cryptic doesnt need you making excuses for them.
Did you really expect NO issues? They only see "money" as usual and now more of an audience of disenfranchised players. Heck it is still "free" if you are willing to put up with a half a$$ product
Excuse me, but LoR and DR being half-assed? If this was Reddit, calling LoR itself half assed would have gotten you downvoted to eternity!
LoR was mostly adding the Romulans to the game and sprucing up the Klingons so that they could have enough content for early leveling. Aside from a cross-faction mission chain, the expansion was clearly meant to try and even the playing field for all 3 factions and add a bit more of story focus involving the Romulans.
DR was bad at launch with respect to how the story progression was handled, but overall it was clearly expansive. Up to that point the max level was 50, the only progression people could make on the Captains was gaining Reputation powers and the story was maxed out. Delta Rising expanded the goal post for endgame by adding the long climb to level 60, adding specializations to add long term progression for Captains, continued on the story that would lead to the Iconian conflict, and gave us a means to grab end level gear.
AoY for the premise was good, out I will agree that it left things to really be desired as far as story when you look at LoR or DR.
Doesn't matter if the story was great they. still inserted failures and supper high HP on the enemies.
My anecdote is the DR got me interesting in coming back to the game after being away for a couple of years. So I'll say it's the bestest expansion ever!
You must be new around here...NOT my words on LoR but do a search and see forum posters from that time.
True romulan players were really furious as to how rushed the new so called "faction" was launched.
Clearly, one cannot believe that romulans are an entire new faction like FEDs/Klings unless you are living in an alternate reality. However, don't take my word for it and do a search for postings from back them. I was here during this half a$$ launched and so was I with DR's Argala's fiasco. Lots of players did quit this game due to the horrible planning of those two expansions.
IMO anything they bring to place its always at best half done. It is still a F2P if you are willing to put up with the low quality of development.
Well to be honest ground combat is still poor but somewhat improved from pc
I've been around since the game went f2p in January 2012. I was here for the Romulan faction launch and I don't remember them being angry about it being rushed. I remember people being disappointed that it wasn't the Romulans they wanted to play as (the TNG kind from the Romulan Star Empire). From a story standpoint at the time it made sense that the Romulan Republic was a fledgling government and so needed the support of the larger powers against the Romulan Star Empire/Tal Shiar.
Now for DR I clearly remember the anger there towards the fact that people said it took forever in leveling to reach the next phase of the story at parts. People were simply trying to do what they could to negate the low returning mission XP gains and as a result, Cryptic got out their rollback hammer and slammed a bunch of people who had been doing the Argala/Tau Dewa patrol exploits and in the process got some of the people who did things fairly also. Eventually prior to the release of Season 11, the episode levels were finally adjusted so you could go through them all more reasonably. The way they handled it though I do admit was not fair, but they probably had to do what they could with the time they had.
Aside from those two events, I haven enjoyed everything that cryptic has put out so far and have little more to say on the bad things they did. I'll continue to enjoy the content for as long as they want to continue the game.
Takes a bit to get used to targeting but flicking the joystick to bounce from target to target is a nice touch once you get the hang of it. Initial targeting can still be a pain though as you try to avoid locking onto a squad mate in your way.
