Vulcans have the Lirpa, Klingons have the bat'leth.

Can Andorians get the ushaan-tor axe?

Can Andorians get the ushaan-tor axe?

Dot bet on it. That would likely require a revamp of Andoria...and there isn't any money in making the planets more interesting.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

What, exactly, does the one have to do with the other? The guy wants a playable melee weapon added. He didn't say anything about the planet.

There wouldn't be a point in just throwing in another weapon without purpose. Even the lock boxes sort of fit into the current content. And given that we already have Kumaris and Aenars and frozen boots and an Andorian captain of the Enterprise...it it isn't just going to happen arbitrarily.

Daqhegh is correct, probably the same reason we wont ever get a Romulan/Reman melee weapon.

    (sigh)

New content (blade weapons) = possible need for more player inventory slots as they collect more junk, er... items. More C-Store ($$) slot sales for Cryptic/PWE.

    Win-win.

What melee weapon would Romulans and Remans have? I don't recall any of the Star Trek series or movies featuring any.

    Good point.

However, maybe it's time to reconsider that. The Vulcans have the lirpa; the Romulans/Remans may have something similar.

And it would be nice to see a few weapons added, lest you discount the reputation-based Tholian crystalline sword (which wasn't a canon weapon from the TV series/movies)...

    Honor blades.

Correct me if I'm wrong, been a long time since my last visit to Andoria.

But can't you go to Andoria and fight with these blades anyhow?

If so why can't we have them outside of just that arena on Andoria?

What's wrong with actually providing those racial abilities/items which are part of cannon Star Trek for players in a game called Star Trek.

As a Trek fan I for one would much rather see that players can by some means obtain items which are cannon Trek such as the Ushaan-tor, than something never seen in Star Trek Cannon like Dyson Sphere space suits, Dyson Obelisk Carriers, Dyson Science Destroyers, or Undine Wrist Lances....

All items which are not cannon Trek, and which were never imagined let alone introduced into Trek lore by those responsible for creating Trek.

Whereas the Ushaan-Tor was actually introduced to Trek by those who created Trek. ;)

Frankly, we need more smaller items in the C-Store anyway. These 50 dollar ship packs are nice every now and again, but it's called MICRO-transactions for a reason. A couple bucks / Quid here and there is one thing, but the price of a full on video game is another.

Nope. We've never been given access to them in ANY form.

They can't be used anywhere as THEY DON'T EXIST.

I don't think there was anything wrong with it per say. The problem is that Andoria was never finished in the first place. Thus no Ushaan-Tors.

Dan Stahl leaked a picture of Ushaan-tors in game a long time ago. The weapon model itself is in the game and part of Cryptic's art assets.

Tacofangs put the Ushaan-tor weapon model on the playable Hirogen bridge, for instance.

The big problem is animation -- which takes substantially longer to do than the weapon model.

    Challenge accepted.

    Nobody said it was wrong.

Cryptic creates Trek now. This is what happens when the holder of the intellectual property licenses that intellectual property to someone else, like Cryptic.
Whereas the Ushaan-Tor was actually introduced to Trek by those who created Trek. ;)

Gene Roddenberry was, in fact, dead for 14 years when Ushaan-tors were put into Star Trek.

Either everything done after Gene Roddenberry died isn't Star Trek (after 1991), or Cryptic creates Star Trek -- along with every other party who was given license to the Star Trek intellectual property after Roddenberry's death.

Can't have it both ways, I'm afraid.

It looks sort of like it would be used like a knife or punch dagger. Not sure offhand that there are any existing animations that could be appropriated. As mentioned, that's going to make it tricky.

I would be pro-anything that gives Andoria a purpose.

PVP on Andoria is all over the dialogue when you beam down, and these weapons would be cool to have. It also would allow CStore variants, rep variants, who knows what. At the very least bank space, as has been mentioned.

There could even be a PvE queue/mission that makes use of the axe (or even all melee gear).

I agree with the premise of the OP, why the heck not? It would be a positive addtion to the game, and more content and choices is a good thing. Only been promised since the game launched, right?

I would snatch up an ushaan-tor if they ever became available (I also want the Andorian rifles from Enterprise). I would like to see more Star Trek canon items in general and less newly invented ones that have no history in the series and therefore no fan appeal.

If we can have a Nausicaan sword, why not an Andorian axe ? I've never actually used the Nausicaan sword, maybe it has the exact same animation as the Falchion so it was just a minor artwork change, compared to all the animation work for an axe ? There are a few other melee weapons in game besides, that I have also never used so they might all share animation with the Lirpa, Falchion or Bat'leth.

Just give us an Andorian Axe, with the same animation as one of other existing melee weapons. Doesn't have to have any special abilities, just some different artwork.
    LTS and loving it.

I've had the idea for Fed's to have a stun rod instead of any bladed melee weapon.
