Anybody who owns one,

Is it good. I stopped playing my Klingon cos there's no t6 heavy bop like the t5 one which I loved the design of, I love the look of the D4x.

I want one so bad but only have 475m EC

Well if you donate that 475 to me I'll have enough to buy one and I'll test it and let you know lol

In all seriousness, from all I've seen of it it's quite an excellent BoP. It has a depressingly normal BOff layout and its console is garbage, but everything else about it is great from what friends who have it say. It's the BoP we have been asking for, which is both a good thing since we finally got it and a bad thing because it's locked behind a gamble-wall.

So frustrating, there's one on the exchange for 590mil. I'm 100mil short, could just buy keys and take a gamble but if I didn't win all my ec would be wasted lol

I know. I've been watching prices jump all around from 520 mil at the lowest to over 700 mil. Wish I hadn't missed the Omega Event (the whole Mac client shutdown really put a kink in my playing the game for a while) otherwise I'd probably have enough to pick one up.

Believe they hype. It's what T6 BoPs should have been; I almost shed a tear when I first managed to pilot roll out of the way of a torp spread into position for a flanking alpha strike.

It's still a BoP, so it's still fragile and by no means an "I win" button; you can't afford to hang in a firefight. But I don't regret any of the resources I spent on it.

Hmmm.... I need to play attention to the price of the D4x from now on... Prices were typically 700m EC or more when I last stopped checking. However, when the contents of the Kelvin Timeline Lock Boxes are included in the revised Infinity Lock Boxes, prices may fall below 500m EC.

Well I finally got it but I've still got a lot of work to do. My gear needs to match my main character for a start. Still I love the ship.

It looks awesome with type 4 skin and pilot maneuvers are so cool, just gotta rid myself of this squishy issue due to rubbish gear.

Yay finally feel like playing my Klingon again now.

I have the T6 Kor...and admittedly, rarely fly it, but how does the Fleet T6 BoP stack up to this Kelvin one?

Try upgrading gear across 10 captains so that all will have epic Mk XIV gear. On top of that each captain has at least two different sets of energy weapon damage types and corresponding tactical consoles. LOL.

I have 12 characters, most have maxed out rep. My main is my completionist and now my Klingon will follow. Just need a tier 5 fleet so I can get a spire core and consoles.

Will craft myself some disrupters cos my main is maxed on crafting, I would go ap but I like to stick to Klingon energy type.

Any particular type of disruptors? I'm working on a two sets of coalition disruptors.

Haven't decided yet, I have one basic disrupter with critdx3 I may try upgrading.

Not sure what the best disrupters are these days.

The reason why I am gunning for coalition disruptors is because I feel it is a lot better than normal disruptors. Normal disruptors have a 2.5% chance for a -10 all damage resistance for 15 seconds. Coalition disruptors have a 2.5% for a -20 disruptor resistance for 30 seconds and can stack up to 5 times. They come from the Year of Hell Lock Box and the Infinity Lock Box. These are blue colored energy weapons.

From a single player point of view coalition disruptors are better because within the 30 second window there is a chance to have a -100 debuff on disruptor damage. However, from a team perspective (such as when playing in a PVE queue mission), normal disruptors are generally better becaise of the -10 all damage resistance debuff because your other team members will likely be using different energy type. But there is also a another benefit of normal disruptors regardless if you are in a team or not and that is torpedoes (assuming you use them) also benefit from the normal debuff.

I am also looking to the withering disruptors from the Terran Task Force reputation store which will cost you Dilithium to purchase them. Or you may get one randomly when opening Terran Task Force boxes as you are leveling up that rep to tier 5. Instead of a damage debuff, it causes radiation damage which completely bypasses shield and it should also bypass armor. The radiation damage (relatively small) lasts for 60 seconds and can stack up to 5 times. These are red colored energy weapons.

Another type of disruptor that I considered in the recent past are the Elachi Disruptors. These have a 2.5% to ignore shields and also 50% damage resistance. They come from Elachi Lock Boxes as well as the Infinity Lock boxes. However, they are pretty expensive on the Exchange, generally speaking several million EC to over 10m EC for ones with specific mods. Because [CrtD]x3 is very rare, I have seen them selling for in excess of 50m EC each. I purchased a few of these weapons at an "affordable" price, but I do not have a full set to place on a starship. These are yellow colored energy weapons.

But in the end, it does not really matter what energy type you use because ultimately, the differences is minor from a DPS point of view. What matters is to stick within one energy weapon damage type and try to upgrade them as much as possible. The specific type of disruptor is just a "flavor" that you like. You can even do a "rainbow" disruptor build if you want to fool other players into thinking you are flying a "real rainbow" ship. Normal disruptors and the ones I've mentioned all have different colors, therefore "rainbow". However, since they are all disruptors they benefit from the disruptor tactical consoles.

A "true rainbow" ship uses different energy weapons like phasers, disruptors, plasma, polaron and tachyon. There are tactical consoles that gives "generic" damage boost for beam / cannon weapons, but the damage bonus is less compared to a tactical console for a specific energy weapon type.

Well I posted a massive reply and it vanished lol. That's a great guide for new players, it's clued me up on disrupters now. I'm more of an ap specialist cos it's all I've used since beta lol.

I should of worked on my Klingon more but I retired it for like 2 years while levelling other alts and perfecting my main.

Sorry about that, I just assumed you were a relatively new player simply looking at your post count.

But in the end I think you should just pick a type of disruptor that you like and run with it. Based on a couple of threads I read in Reddit regarding energy weapon types there were some people who analyzed combat logs using various types of energy types and the basic conclusion was that in the end the difference in DPS between the "best" and "worst" energy types was only something like a 2% or 3% spread. Since I do not analyze combat logs, who am I to argue against them? So I simply accept it as "good enough for me".

That's quite alright, I'm more browser than poster lol. I've been in sto since 2011. Just never joined the forums til last year haha. Got over 2000 hours in the game from just steam plus the however many hours before I used steam and now arc counts them instead lol but no matter how long you've played there's always stuff to learn.

    In my case it's disrupters

I suppose I am the opposite of you. I have been working on all my 10 captains more or less simultaneously. Recently spent a decent amount resources to get my AoY captain "up to speed" to a certain degree. In a way my progression has stagnated on all of my captains because I try to devote equal time to all of them. I basically only have time to run STFs, Doffing and Admiralty.

I think once I maxed out the rep system on my AoY captain, I am going to revert back to working on my 3 primary captains (Fed, KDF, Romulan) and less time to the others. That way I can at least complete all the story missions for those captains.

For more info about the various types of disruptor energy weapons click the following link. The different flavors of disruptors is in a collapsed / hidden section on the page. Scroll down until you see "[show] Special Energy Weapons (non-standard procs)" and click [show] to expand that section.

The Fleet B'rel [T6] has 1 LtCom Uni/Pilot seat and Enhanced Battle Cloak. The D4x has 1 Cmdr Uni/Pilot seat, 1 Lt Uni/Temporal Seat, Tactical Maneuvers abilities and Battle Cloak. The D4x outperforms the Fleet B'rel [T6] in nearly every way. There really is no comparison.

Eh, I wouldn't say the Kor is without its strengths. It's still a better platform than the D4 as a Sci / Torp bomber, thanks to the enhanced battle cloak and torpedo console. The D4 is more of a straight-up fighter - as much as a raider can be - with pilot maneuvers to improve survivability and a trait which rewards head-on attacks.

Just goes to show that even with Raiders, you can have some degree of specialization.

The shotgun torpedo console on the Kor is alright, but it's performance is about the same as the proton weapon console on the D4x.

The D4x gets a Lt Temporal seat, which gives it tiny bit more sci flexibility than the Fleet B'rel [T6]. Being able to throw science powers while cloaked is a bit of a mixed bag at end-game, with many opponents having cloak-seeking weapons, or abilities that flat out ignore cloaking devices.

I admit to being heavily biased towards the D4x. It is really, really fun to pilot. Yeah, I have the fancy-shmancy iconic space barbie ships on other characters. None of those vessels are half as enjoyable to fly as the D4x.

You could sell the keys on the Exchange, and get the missing 100 Million EC that way. A lot more reliable, though it will take some time to make those sales. (Hopefully the D4X doesn't disappear in that time.)

That said - I believe you should check the going rates for, I believe the R&D Promo Boxes have a better Zen/EC exchange rate.

Most people overlooked coalition disruptors because they used to be bugged when they came out. I've never bothered testing them after they got fixed. Frankly, if working perfectly, a team using these would be pretty deadly. Nothing like a weapon that debuffs damage resistance to itself.

And that was my interruption for the day. Keep talking about your ship.

Hmmm... I wasn't aware of those weapons initially being bugged. Hopefully, the coalition disruptors are actually working properly because at this point in time I am too lazy to test them. That would mean I need very rare "normal" disruptors Mk XIV of the same weapon type (beam arrays) and the same mods so that I can analyze multiple combat log results of both. I definitely like the blue beam and the "pew, pew" sound effects though.

Let us know what you think about the D4x after you have enough time to gear up and play around with it.

I got too few resources going in too many directions. I think I dropped something like 200m EC just to stock up on 1.5x tech and 1.5x quality boost accelerators in the past two weeks.
