Unless I have an Xbox or PS4. I really want the new Keldon and Dominion Dreadnought, mostly because they look awesome. I'm willing to buy a truckload of zen to get them if their lockboxes are released for the PC version tomorrow. I hear tell that Cryptic expect me to buy a console if I want it badly enough, or take my paltry zen money and go home. Could a Cryptic representative please give an official response to this? I think we'd all appreciate it.

I'm fairly sure they will come out on PCs soon enough. The pc is the biggest market and there is absolutely demand for these ships (especially the Keldon) so they aren't going to miss that cash cow.

    Patience is what's required here.

You poor, poor, under-appreciated player. Do you really think after so long they would release Dominion ships and a Cardassian ship - even a canon one - for consoles only? STO is being released today (US) or tomorrow (EU) so they want to offer something special and something seemingly unique that will convince more players to check out the console version and give it a try. I guarantee you these ships will come to PC eventually.

33 minutes into the podcast. As of right now, this is the best you're going to get. I wouldn't worry about it.

The Dominion dred is already in the game, it has been for a while. I think they're just giving it a new model. I'm sure the other one will be available for lobi in the PC version.

    Can I haz ur stuffs?

If they do release these lock boxes on PC just to keep your business, please remember: DO NOT OPEN LOCK BOXES JUST TO TRY TO GET A SHIP!

If you just want a ship, sell keys for EC then buy the ship with EC. This offers 100% success for typically much less than even a 50% chance to get a ship by gambling on lock boxes.

What he's really saying is that the exchange will be universal across PC and console. What you can sell on exchange in the PC client will be buyable on the exchange using the console client, and vice-versa.

I like how you assume I'm too dumb to know zen is best exchanged for EC to get the special ships. That kinda makes you the dumb one, doesn't it?

I think it's fair to say that this new lock box is only being released on console (for the moment at least) to entice console players to buy master keys and get the console exchange stocked with those expensive items. Once Cryptic have made some money, they'll no doubt release the Keldon to the PC playerbase too. It's only a matter of time.

Not releasing these ships to the PC version would be one of the stupidest marketing decisions Cryptic is possible of making. The only reason why Cryptic would do something this stupid, would be some idiotic exclusivity deal made with Microsoft and Sony.

I'm pretty sure if there was some sort of exclusive deal made, it would be better than a (re)released Dominion ship and a Keldon.

There is the free Tier 1 Steamrunner and Andorian Light Escort for all console users in the first couple of weeks. Time will tell if the Andorian Light Escort will be made available to the others that didn't spend $200 in another Cryptic game or log into the Playstation 4 version.

.Also, when you sell your keys, be sure to buy the credit cap unlock first unless you are a subscriber. That is very important!

The price in EC will be higher when the ship is first released. If you can wait a little while (like a week or two) the price should drop!

There is no mention of exclusitivity in the console announcement. So it's only a matter of time until the lockbox contents arrive on the PC.

On the PC side we're still in the middle of a lockbox cycle and have a promo running. They won't cut that short.

This is just a selling point with the initial Console release. Its a here you go a nice shiny lockbox to gamble on, winners get a ship you can't use for x amount days until you level up to rank 45. Hand over your money.
A little bit later, Oh Console isn't doing as well as we thought better put this lockbox on the PC version to cover our costs $$$.

Or a (re)subscriber. I'll be amazed if existing subscriptions carry over, even though I think they should do. Looks like I'll be grinding dilithium for a couple of months before I worry about that energy cap.

Knowing how some people will jump into this game, buy a bunch of xp boosts and take the day off work, I can easily see some people achieving level 45 within a day or two - as slightly sad as that is...

Depending how the skills and powers work for the console version of the game, PvP might be better on consoles.

Meh. I don't believe that console players are that different from PC players. Don't get excited and expect any wonders.

And the travesty that is PvP will only become really apparent once people have full access to all the power creep. Which will take a few weeks.

Very easy to achieve within a day. And I'd like to see these ships released on PC. I just think a lock box on release of a game where everyone is starting at scratch and can't use until a third of the way through levelling is a little to early. Maybe release it after a fortnight of play and see what the player population is 1st.

But then I'm not Cryptic's marketing or promotions team (Who should be fired on the spot regarding the Ferengi ship email promotion. Yes I got the ship and am thankful for that, but to also clearly state in the email I also will get the Enterprise J Goodies and a signed copy of the game but NOT INCLUDE ANYWHERE EXCLUSION TERMS in the email or their own website well that's a discussion for a different thread ?)

All my console friends laugh at this game, I have small hope for Cryptic and PWE making this game a success for console players, I do hope they succeed maybe then we will get a lot more content then 3 PvE queues and few episodes each year.....

"There is no mention of exclusivity..."

Yeah, there wasn't any mention of this in past events with ships, either. That doesn't rule out the possibility of them being exclusive, however.

Just because PWE/C doesn't include a disclosure clause at release doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be available at some point to everyone else.
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.

Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.

My guess here is they're releasing it on console almost like they did with PC. They're probably starting with just the original story arcs. With the Cardie/Dom boxes being releases. I'd say up to the Breen Arc first. That's what was in when it went F2P.

Then will probably be temoral and xindi.

Then they'll probably drop Delta Recruit.

Then they'll drop the Iconian War.

    Then they'll drop Future Proof.

Then they'll drop Agents of Yesterday.

They won't drop all the game at once for console. Each patch will have to be redone. First they need something to work with. This goes back to the original pre-rep era where it ended at the Borg/Breen. Then from here, they'll(hopefully) fumigate the bugs and work to release it bit by bit until console is caught up with PC.

The main problem here will be PvP. This is big in the console gamers. If they haven't sorted and balanced this, well I'll need to go buy more popcorn when i start reading the forums.

If the exchange crosses between console and PC than id expect to not see this box on PC. It'll intice people to open the boxes on the consoles and sell the ships to PC players

Edit: and I'm sure someone from cryptic would of said don't worry its PC as well by now if it was true
