Right now, science-oriented starships are the sparsest of vessels in the game for all factions (even the Federation, of which the combined number of destroyers, escorts, cruisers, and dreadnoughts is at least double).
Really what I'm looking at right now is fleet diversity. Personally, I think the cross-faction bundles are a great thing. They allow you to pick up 3 (albeit similar) ships for 3 different factions at once, and aesthetically, cryptic's designs are quite impressive. Unless it just isn't cost effective, why not go for it?
