Voth Immunity Matrix and (Step Between the Stars) & 'nothing on sensors'

This fight (science ship versus waves of tactically oriented + damage immunity + the game spams you with a system popup of "nothing on sensors" which blocks your commands...is surprisingly difficult. I've played this before plenty of times but never had this kind of trouble. Did they change something?
The fight has been going on for an hour and the Voth just won't drop. Got him to about 20% each time before he Immune+alphas me to death...which resets all his systems of course and starts the fight again. It's not like you can put power to engine to get away cause he combos tractors + gravity well....right after I've already popped hazard emitters against the previous combo.
