Brightness keeps resetting itself

Hi all,

I set the brightness in game to 140% however the game itself seems to then reset the brightness to a much darker level randomly (during battles, when on an away mission etc.). When going into the graphics menu it still says 140%, but when I click the slider it straight away then brightens the screen back to as it was.

This is happening on my PC and laptop so not an isolated issue.

Is there any way to stop this happening?

Thanks,

Ben

Happens to me too. Usually when I'm rearranging HUD or some such.

Do you go to another window, like check your email while playing? That is when it happens to me. On the few times it does not occur my other windows get the +40% brightness and somehow look washed out. So it may be not setting back to your window properly.

Nor should they be. Their ships would look weird.

My brightness setting dims when I alt+tab out of the game. It's been a known issue for a long time, so I must conclude it's too low of a priority to merit any attention. :( Add it to the pile...

Have had the same problem for half a year at least. Sent in many tickets and bug reports about it. Its followed to three different PC builds and machines. Its game side problem. Minimize and then maximize screen will fix it until you tab out again.

Another weird work around I have found is to get the game to crash. After the crash it will work fine until the next time you start your PC. Lets be honest, you dont have to try hard to make a Cryptic game crash.. lol

Have had this happen to me... Both on STO and Neverwinter.

When it happens to me, there is a momentary flash of a small window in the center of the screen, that lasts for just a split second.

With Windows 7 using fullscreen the window would sometimes minimize and if I brought the screen back up without exiting and relogging in it was very dark. With Win 10 sometimes this happens, and sometimes the screen goes very light, looking washed out-all of this is very annoying. I do not hope around to other sites or out of the game while playing STO.

I have to turn the brightness down on my laptop to 80% as standard. All I can say is it's a card or display issue more than a game issue. Don't forget guys that the Dev's have to be able to replicate a bug before they can fix it most times. Why anyone needs to amp the brightness in-game as well as on their displays is baffling.
