Hanger Pets, the Love/Hate Relationship

I've always loved big ships. Carriers are a blast to me. I've loved using them on and off over the years. Like the Narcine with those beautiful little debuff boats it carries. So when the T'Laru, the first Rommie carrier was announced, I was SO excited. An intel warbird with heavy Sci focus and TWO hangers able to mount the Elite Droneships? God yes.

So I paid way too much and got it. Tossed out those worthless Kelvin Scorps and put in Droneships. Then... Started getting upset. The carrier pet AI seems to have gotten worse since I last ran one. The commands are borderline useless during any kind of combat. Just to get them to recall, you have to set them on intercept, then recall. If they don't all recall, set for intercept again, then recall. It sometimes takes 3 or 4 tries just to get them to return to you if they do at all. And if they're shooting? Forget it. They won't recall at all, which is annoying if they're almost dead and you want them back in your belly to heal up.

Then you set them on attack while cloaked or just out of range of a target. Often times, only 2 of them launch and the other two stay in the hanger. You have to mash various commands till they respond. And the sad part is the Droneships seems to respond better than others like the Kelvin Scorps. I tried earlier, and they simply would NOT recall. They just sat there trying to fly against the invisible wall in front of my hangers.

And as a side note, the T'Laru's hitbox is massive. I think someone accidentally put a Borg Cube's hitbox on it. I'm always getting stuck on ships when I warp to ESD or DS9. It makes recalling pets even harder because they just bounce around your giant invisible walls.

If the Devs are going to keep giving us carriers as big ticket money makers like the Jupiter, Vonph, Vengeance, T'Laru, etc then they REALLY need to make the hanger pets less agonizing to use. It's a lot of fun to command them and a lot less fun if all you can do it deploy and leave then. And don't get me started on how the KDF, originally the only faction with truly good carriers, doesn't even have a T6 carrier... But that's dipping too low into the R.I.P. KDF rant.

TL;DR: Someone PLEASE fix the hanger pet AIs, carrier commands, and T'Laru collisions.

I noticed this on the Vengeance and Jem'Hadar Dreadnought. Hell, even the Gal-X.

They "fixed" hangar pet AI before and it was fine for a little while. I guess a metaphorical s c r e w popped loose in the programming or something.

Dreadnought class. Two times the size, three times the speed. Advanced weaponry. Modified for a minimal crew. Unlike most Federation vessels, it's built solely for combat.

I think the problem with the hangar pets started with their "minor" overhaul of the animation system (which wrecked most of the animations). Before the pets had gotten quite a bit better but now they are quite bugged again. Also best way to heal your pets is to get the Scramble Fighters starship trait.
