~Curious question regarding player/forum handles.

I've been noticing a trend recently regarding peoples' forum handles. There are a lot of people with the same name template that goes like this Blahblahblah#1234, what is the deal with this?
I dont recall seeing players in game with these type of handles.
Is Arc forcing newly registered people into this naming template?
Is this something people do to signify a 2nd acct?

I just think its a really odd coincidence or trend.

Thanks

It's an Arc change not a fashion statement. Anyone with #1234 is a newer account.

Ok, one of my reasonable theories. The other ones are more nefarious, including fashion statment.

Yeah, I think I have seen some Cryptic Developer Forum handles also get stuck with the stupid number.

Ohey, I thought it was some hacker designations. All the EC spammer friend invites had those designations, so I now ignore every friend invite from accounts that have the #1234 identifier.

You should ignore strange out of the blue friend invites anyway, usually a sign of a spammer.
Its like walking up to a girl you never talked to and asking for her number. You have to get to know a person first and build a bond before you get her number.

I decline out of the blue friend requests. Unless I've actually talked with someone or helped them and then they friend me, I'll decline every time.

I get those a lot and I know it's not my glowing personality causing it, so I ignore them.

i too thought those #1234 people were up to no good... another theory i had was their name was offensive or broke the TOS so it was forcibly changed... as far as random invites for friends and fleet, if they didn't take the time to talk to me first i always decline them, they're only looking for numbers to pad their ranks, not people...
