Which do you think would be better, being able to use the tech from episode "Uneasy Allies" to order Boffs to do this or that instead of you, or being able to take over a Boff like those Lego game characters are able to do?
This is actually something i've thought of in the past, i might have even suggested it on the forums. When you hit F to collect a soil sample instead of you doing it hitting F should be "order <boff name> to collect soil sample" instead. And just apply that same thing to everything that requires you to do something minor.
EDIT: ohh and as far as control in combat? i would rather they just made the AI smarter in its use of boff abilities. Creating ground levels with boxes, crates or other objects and then making the AI able to sense those objects, move towards them and crouch/stand to take cover.
I'd definitely like more control over my BOFF. I am honestly not sure how good is the AI, especially regarding BOFF abilities like those from the Temporal spec that require to be used in a particular order to be efficient (building entropy and THEN spending it)... This would hel if we could assign priorities to some powers over others.
I was playing the prison facility episode last night... my Boff kind of looked at me and said "Nah, you know what Captain? You go on ahead I'll just sit here on the transporter pad and mind my own business. Stayed there until I was forced to respawn at isolation zone b.
I still want boff bridge seating that isn't counter intuitive. So many ships I've flown have nobody at the conn. I know many of us want out department heads in appropriate locations as well... but they've never revisited that idea.
Just finished doing the Galorndon Core mission, and was killed four times while my boffs stood idly behind the sliding doors, watching me die. I think they think they're Klingons and they're trying for promotion.
It took six tries to get one of them through those doors. "Aim for the empty bit in the middle, not the solid bits at the sides"... how hard can that be to implement, in programming terms?
A new version of this i just thought of, tweak it so only the Boff's beam down, with you picking one to appear as(via holographic disguise tech) to order the others around.
Being able to order boffs to do things would help get the class accolades in missions. And it is kinda silly having the captain do all the work while 4 officers follow him/her around like lost puppies...so yeah, would be good to be able to order them to do things.
I just trained my Boff engineer in Command skills because I heard there were some great group buffs like Take Cover, Hammer and Anvil, and Return Fire. Well, the idiot would use them willy-nilly, in combat or not. So I deactivated the boff skills and moved their buttons to my tool bar (I just learned you could do that after 7 years of playing). Well now when I activate Take Cover and Hammer and Anvil for her, the boff runs straight at the target, stands next to them, then activates the skill. Buggy AI means I can't use those skills effectively. She's going back to Chroniton mines and shield recharge.

Most of the times their presence is an annoyance rather than something I consider beneficial.
