Possible New Lifetime Ship Design

Just had an idea for a possible new Veteran ship design.

The ship in that image-and I just put up a link to the image as I'm not real sure how to put the actual image onto a forum post, so apologies there-is the Federation Class, found in the game "Star Fleet Battles-" ironically, the same game that has the very designs that many of the new TOS themed ships were apperently pulled from as well. My idea was that this particular ship could have a TOS skin, a Kelvin skin, and a skin much like is seen on the Federation Temporal Escort and similar ships. This design, from the looks of it, could be taken a few ways-a destroyer, as is the norm; a battlecrusier, which fits with TOS; or even a dreadnought, as it was in Star Fleet Battles. There are many ways this idea could work.

I'd value dev feedback on this idea.

    That design is from an old 1970s licensed product, a Federation Handbook by Franz Joseph. There are issues with licensing rights, i.e., they don't want to pay him for it, so it can't go in the game at present. Too bad, I'd like it. Some people thought it'd be perfect for the TOS Fed Veteran Ship, I think that was a great idea. Oh well.

    Yeah, Franz Joseph owns all that stuff. It was officially licensed and thus sorta canon, but... not owned by CBS, and thus it never got used for anything official.

    Yeah, if we wanted to see his starship designs, we'd have to contact his estate.

    Though frankly, maybe they might be amenable to getting his designs in-game? Who knows, I guess they'd have to be asked.

    You know, PWE/C could go a looooooong way in acquiring more LTS sales with the release of a "scaling" ship that has "universal specialization boff slots" and increases in base stats with skills/spec choices. The spec boff slots would allow you to put whatever specialization boff you want in them and utilize the skills (rather than having ONLY Intel or Command or whatever) up to whatever ranked slot it is.

    Such a ship, that evolves as the game evolves, could be a nice selling point for LTS's, perhaps even having gear on it that does the same. This doesn't restrict anyone who has an LTS from buying/acquiring other ships, just gives them a nice solid base ship they can use as the game changes and doesn't lock them out of current content.

    that or it'd be useless due to being weaker than a top of the line ship.

    Not only that, but it would be a pain to code. Ships are designed with fixed slots and base stats. This is the reason why Fleet ships don't have a Fleet Upgrade consumable, but require buying a completely new ship. Doing the T5-U upgrade requires deleting your old T5 ship and acquiring the T5-U ship. So it would require a massive effort to make scaling ships. Some time could be avoided by making scaling consoles where your ship stays the same, but additional slots and stats are added through the console.

    Obviously I'd love vets to get more stuff - and including another ship. But I very much doubt that this will happen. They already have our Money...
    Well...adding 3 more ships would boost lifetime sales but that's not the way cryptic think.
    18 characters
    KDF: 2 tacs, 2 engs, 3 scis
    KDF Roms: 3 tacs, 1 eng, 1 scis
    FED: 2 tacs, 1 eng, 2 scis
    TOS: 1 tac
    all on T5 rep (up to temporal)
    all have mastered Intel tree (and some more specs Points)
    highest DPS: 60.982

    I think that a TOS-ified version of the Chimera would be appropriate for TOS characters who are lifers.

    They already added 3 x T6 ships (1 per faction) so it will probably be awhile before they add more. T7 Connie? ;)

    Any design will probably look better than the Chimera's fat belly ;)

    No, actually, it is an interesting design. At least it's somewhat unique.

    A new Vet ship should have as many customisation options as the Chimera, that's what I find the most important thing for a ship that's mostly a status symbol.

    I believe I saw somewhere one of the devs actually said that they had tried to get Franz Joseph stuff but CBS has just flat out killed that.

    A few pointed out already that some key factors of a faction are missing for our AoY faction.

    When it comes to livers an exclusive playable race as well as ship are obviously missing so thumbs up from me for your idea OP.

    There is a huge difference between livers and lifers. Lifers are stuck with something for life. Serving a life sentence in jail or spending their entire life in a particular career. Livers, on the other hand, are a certain organ within the body of animals that is sometimes used as part of a despised meal for most people.

    Being a Lifetime subscriber...I'm all for having another choice. But because I play Klingon predominately, I would hope that they release a ship for each faction. Maybe this is where they'll release the T6 K'tinga?

    Been out of commission for a while, computer died. But yes, that was what I was saying, but I was implying for TOS and Fed-I actually forgot about the other two factions. But I also did talk to Thomas the Cat on Facebook about this and alas, there likely will NOT be any new Veteran rewards anytime soon as a part of this expansion. If at all.

    And Nikephorus that was exactly what that was :)

    I don't like the idea of LTS Veteran rewards being anything more than cosmetic. Free ships and gear that nobody else has access too? Can you say "Pay to Win"?
