Kelvin Beam Arrays and Torpedoes?

How are they? Do the beams look like pulses?

The phasers look like the movies' version, so they're like rapid-fire bolts. The sound volume isn't really high (once again, like in the movies) but it's similar enough.

The torpedoes are blue photon torps with a lens flare effect. Their sound is the same are normal photon torpedoes though, which I find disappointing, as I was expecting the movie version.

For the performance, I'd say they're both average. You'll want them for the looks and that's it. The torpedoes have no special effects, but they have a predestined [reload] modifier that stacks with torpedo cooldown reduction Doffs so you can shoot them very fast.

I've got a set finally all up to XIV, dunno if better/worse than regular phasers/torps but will shred stuff to bits all the same.

Phasers are red pulses and Torps bluey slightly oval? in appearence.

Sounds i thought were pretty much bang on as per the films.

    Overall i like em. :)

Agreed.. performance-wise, I have been quite pleased with the new Kelvin weapons

Combined with the new temporal ships, it's quite beast. I'm trying to get a hang of the entire entropy thing, but with a science build in that captain seat - the damage is insane.

Though when fighting with other players, you barely get to see your contribution because of all the clutter of energy weapons. So you might want to think about that aspect. Solo, it's beautiful and satisfying.

The torps do actually sound like the movie ones, but only when fired without enhancement (High yield or spread).

I used them till upgrade weekend. The special proc is pretty lame. Move ship back like 20 meters with chance to stop. I prefer agony phasers with the dot proc

@saurializard I've found that the torpedoes sound slightly different at single shots, but torpedo spread is just like the normal photons, not sure about high yield. They surely could get some more love in this respect.

Thanks, I got an idea for my Galaxy X. I was going to use 1 or 2 of those beams arrays. To make "AA" fire. I was kinda doing a Space Battleship Yamato Theme on one of my alts. Since they are phasers to go with my current build, and the red bursts will look like the "AA" fire. Torpedoes I may do those instead of the Quantums. However I'm not fully sure yet on the torpedoes.

Agony phasers have highest phaser dps but blue biomatter ones look the best of the various phaser types imo. I never thought red went well with federation ships tbh. Looks good with klingon ships though.

TS sound with KT photons is quantum torpedoes, not prime photons

i've used enough quantum and photon spreads over the years to know the difference

I just checked and yep, the normal shots have the movie sounds, so I retract what I said about their sounds. Still sad TS and HY sounds didn't get updated for them, but that's already the case for many torpedoes. At least, the phasers don't make normal phaser sounds when using FAW.

In fact, here're a couple of images that should help:

Ya know, the special sound of the torpedoes in the JJ Abrams Trek films was the sound of a slinky.

Also, Engineering on the Enterprise was a beer factory. LOL

Edit: OOPs. Yeah, I bought a few of those Kelvin phaser beam arrays and a couple torps. I'm loving them. Decent damage and cool effects.

The new torpedoes are more useful than you might think.

If you combine their innate 2 second reload modifier, and use 3 purple torpedo DOFFs and Kemocite I, you will get a lot more Kemocite explosion procs than you normally do. It's viciously effective.

I have a full load of these badboys on my KT Dreadnaught. They are fantastic! Still waiting for The AOY dual Phazer array's to hit crafting/D-store/ something... as well as KT cannons, dual beam banks, turrets,, etc. Don't like that right now there are only Beam Array and torps.. makes choosing a loadout tough on me...
