Suggestion regarding the Dilithium issue: Dilithium Upgrade Vouchers

So we have fleet vouchers for dilithium that can only be spent on fleet stuff (I have 20k sitting on a few toons that I can't use because I'm not currently in the a fleet) so with the current push to cut down on the dilithium farming issue, that is unfortunately affecting regular players who are struggling to maintain the amount of dilithium that they need for upgrades and such in the game, why not introduce a similar voucher that an be used for upgrades only.

For example:

Daily 10,000 Dilithium Ore refinement Duty Officer Assignment (20 hour cooldown, or perhaps longer) -

Completing this mission gives you a 10,000 character bound Upgrade Voucher that cannot be used to buy Zen or other items that sell for dilithium, it can only be used within the upgrade system.

This will allow for a way to refine additional ore beyond the 8k limit, but also locks that dilithium out from adversely affecting the Exchange.

Thoughs? Suggestions? Improvements?

Thanks for reading.

I'm not convinced that there are many players who are turning in multiple contraband missions daily on a single character to get dil for upgrades instead of to sell for zen.

One contraband turn in a day per character is fine for most of us.

This is why I think the Contraband nerf will have minimal effect if any.

Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.

This will and is already having massive impact on the game and its economy. Yes there are many many many many people out there who use dilithium from contraband for everything but zen. Ever heard of building a fleet. Is very expensive in terms of dilith, Upgrading for about 20 some odd toons. Like to see anyone pay for that on middle or lower class income. Good luck. So to answer your statement again. Yes there are many. Most of my games economy revolves around it. For zen I pay, for dilith I play. This is how it has always been. For ec or dilith it was always possible to do contraband and get a good turn out, not to mention selling the contraband for pure ec which usually isn't possible when doing upgrading or fleet. I'm going to say this outright so there will be no misunderstanding. I understand some people have the means and kudos to you as you help the game a lot when you contribute, but now I gotta ask you with the state of the game as it is, what exactly are you helping? I have tried to do my fair share always as I can, but I dare anyone to try to do what I used to do with regards to dilith in a fleet or upgrading on my income. Again to that I say good luck and FYI I promise you most people who play this are on or lower than my income so may be a bit of a prob for most people in game who don't buy things on exchange and Jack prices up like some leeches do. As for the people complaining about no zen available. I promise you soon there will be plenty. No one to buy it anymore of course but plenty to go around. Prices on everything including dilith per zen will fall yes but I'm sure not within reason considering how long it now takes to get anything through buggy pve ques that will be a lot harder to start now with less people as I already know many who will quit. Warned about this months ago. Complete and total BS and a practical death blow to free to play in my honest opinion. There's making money and then there's greed. I know it when I see it, and before any of you who have been making money hand over fist by manipulating the zen/dilith market dare to respond I don't answer greedy idiots replies. You either support my opinion or stay outa my way. lol. In the end: my bone is with PWE and I'm doing more venting here than anything so cool it anyways in advance. lol. I think my answer to this is going to be very popular to be honest. I'm going to build a wall. Yes you heard me. My fellow gamers I'm going to build a wall between my billfold and Arc games. When this issue is "resolved" then I may open the boarder to my billfold again, but I promise you it will be great. It will be wonderful and when they stop trying to kill the free to play aspect, only then can we make STO great again. lol. ^^ No refunds will be granted for the time of your life you have wasted for reading this. ^^

anything that takes refined dilithium out of the game is basically a dil sink and anything that puts dilithium into the game is a dilithium source.
depending on the size of the sink and the size of the source the devs try to keep the equilibrium of refined dilithium on an even keel hence the 8k daily refinement cap.
adding an extra 10k dilithium refinement daily per character even if it was restricted to a certain voucher use such as upgrading would create a massive imbalance in the flow of refined dilithium where players would have to rely solely on their 8k daily refinement for upgrading they would now have 18k daily for upgrading allowing them to upgrade stuff much quicker till the stage they would maybe not need to rely on their 8k refined dilithium for upgrading at all.
the same could be said for any regular dilithium voucher no matter what its purpose, this is why the devs only release dilithium vouchers only on very rare occasions.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

People keep posting these "suggestions" to "solve" the dilithium "issue" that are just begging for more dilithium. Do they actually think they're fooling someone?

Prior to the Contraband nerf the exchange rate was as high as 490 from what I can remember. After the tribble notes was released stating that the cool down time would be increased from 4 to 20 hours, the exchange rate dropped to 383 from what I saw.

It is since recovered back to around 425, but after the change was made live on the holodeck server, the exchange rate is currently sitting at 390. Therefore, it does seem that has been a significant impact. We will get a better idea once the Double Tech Point Upgrade Weekend ends.
