What was the environmental team working on for AOY?

We only have 2 or 3 new ground maps with a few rocks on them for this expansion. It doesn't seem like they did any work at all for this.

    I saw:

    Revamp of 23c (Connie) Bridge & interior, with some "new" maps.
    Tarsus III (or whatever world was with the spear throwers)
    Cestus III
    23c ESD
    "redraw" of 23c Connie interiors as KDF ones

    and this is all right off the top of my head, and from the "tutorial" section only (haven't played any of yesterday's war, which most likely has a few more new maps on top of it...)
    Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

    I'm also gonna say they were working on the new lighting changes, for every single map in the game, which was revealed in numerous dev blogs (particularly the Weekly Before & Afters), as I'm fairly sure Lighting is one facet of the Environmental Art team.​​

    I forgot about the lighting changes. Haven't noticed them, so I guess that's good?

    No, they are not in the game yet. I think there has been no clear date set for when they arrive on the PC platform, but it might be after the console version of the game has launched.

    Of course, that does not mean they did not have to spend time working on it.

    I wonder if the lighting changes and console ports explain why the "expansion" is so light on content.

    Even if you don't see the work the Environmental Art team has put in right now, it isn't to say they don't do anything at all. Every department in a game studio is doing something day in and day out.

    You just may not see what that particular department has been doing for a long time, since the amount of time and labor going into a certain project may end up being lengthier than other departments, as not all game development is created equal.​​

    Did you ever WATCH the Original Series? Most planets were dirt and red sky and a few rocks. Fits in fine to me! lol
    Nothing breaks the tension better than a tankard of warnog - except maybe a good brawl...

    I believe @tacofangs DID say he made the Enterprise-J model, so maybe the environment artists were used to help get some of the ships done?
