Temporal Multi-Mission Science Vessel Eternal Class - Aux Cannons?

ravinravin Member Posts: 509 Arc User
Since the Eternal Class is from the "Multi-Mission" family of Science ships, like the Vesta, shouldn't it be able to equip Aux Cannons?

That would make sense, plus it should be able to use the Vesta's special consoles, but I don't think it does.

Well, since the Eternal isn't a Vesta variant, then no, it shouldn't. The Vesta line may be Multi-Mission Science Vessels, but the Eternal isn't part of the Vesta Line.

What he said. They are both Multi-Mission Science Vessels, like the Paradox and Annorax are both Science Dreadnoughts, but the Eternal is not part of the Vesta line.

Well, with no T6 Vesta variant in the near future, they need to start opening up these Aux Cannons to other ships. I mean Cryptic would have my money now if they allowed the Eternal to equip Aux Cannons. Guess I'll have to wait for my T6 Vesta.

The Eternal Can use regular DC and DHCs I hear for what its worth.

"What he said. They are both Multi-Mission Science Vessels, like the Paradox and Annorax are both Science Dreadnoughts, but the Eternal is not part of the Vesta line."

So science dreadnaughts and multimission science vessels are type of ship, not just a group of ship classes now?

Okay so in STO we have:

    Carriers
    Dreadnaught Carriers
    Escorts/Raptors
    Destroyers
    Cruisers
    Flight Deck Cruiser
    Dreadnaught Cruisers
    Battle Cruisers
    Command Cruisers
    Dreadnaught Science Ships
    Science ships
    Multimission Science Ships
    Flight Deck Raptors/Escort Carriers
    BoPs
At least two types of Romulan Warbirds
    Civilian Transport
What ever ship type the Suliban Cells ship is.

    Am I forgetting any?

Heavy Escort Carrier, Heavy Destroyer, and more.

But that doesn't matter. Unless ships EXPLICITLY share an ancestry, there is no sharing of ship-specific skins, consoles, etc.

Actually this IS worth something to me...My Reman Sci was still in a Dyson destroyer waiting for a Tier 6 Rom science vessel until the Eternal class stats blog came out. It didn't mention dual cannons, so I decided against getting it and finally broke down and got him the Na'kuhl Daemosh. But I'd buy an Eternal for him if he could for sure use his dual heavy cannon build.

Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

Yes to Dual and Dual Heavy Cannons. No to Aux Cannons.

I presume I am right in assuming it's a similar explanation for why the Mirror Wells/Mobius/Paradox consoles can't be slotted on the 31st Century Temporal Ships??

If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Yeah, doesn't help me. I rock an all Aux build with my Vesta. It doesn't win any dps prizes, but it gets the job done, and done quickly. As an aside, I'm really not sure why the Aux cannons are locked to the Vestas. Why not open them up to all Science ships? I mean, Auxiliary is the Science ship/captain's mojo. You'd still have to buy at least one Vesta variant to get the cannons. Is there some hidden advantage that I'm not aware of to having Aux cannons on other Science ships?

I agree with you Ravin, you can use the Quad Cannons on any ship that can use DHCs and DCs, so I see no reason that AUX cannons should be used on any science/support ships.

Of course that means they should add AUX cannons to each of a KDF and Romulan ship eventually.

Or just add AUX cannons to the Eternal automatically.

    It would boost sales.

I agree though I would much rather see them changed a bit if they are made usable on all science ships (or all ships), or even just Multi-mission science ships. One change would be something more like they gain a boost from high aux power over weapon power, but still either drain power from weapon power or drain power from both weapon an aux power while firing (kinda like if each volley drains 10 energy it is 5 energy from weapon an 5 from aux power.). I could see it that you might gain like a exotic/radiation damage component based on how high your aux power is over a boost to the weapon's damage.

Though in the same vain i would hope that quad cannons would get the same treatment, with it splitting the power drain between weapon an engine power system, and could even make it that weapon power gives a boost in damage while engine power gives a boost to firing rate.

Alternately if they don't want to make the Vesta's AUX Phaser cannons usable on other ships, would be to give the Eternal AUX Temporal Defence Chroniton Heavy Cannons. Its make it very different from the Vesta's AUX phaser cannons.

So... does the text on those items ACTUALLY SAY THAT @crypticspartan or is this just another case of the restrictions text treating a word as a reserved game term when it's not (VATA console so many times...)

It says Any Vesta Variant on the cannons. I have the ships and I checked when I said what I said about the Eternal not being a Vesta variant.

Excellent. Thank you for everifying that. That's all I ask for and sadly it's done very erratically. It was wildly irritating to find the Council Defense Pact set (600 lobi) I bought for my Narcine SAYS 3-piece set bonus works on "any Xindi ship" and it plainly DOESN'T. Grr.

For those worried about the Eternal's turn rate, Offence Config, increases by 20% and does the same for speed.
