And since the Daedalus class is largely non-canon (it gets it's name from books that combine two obscure references into on ship), will we get a T6 Ares class from _Axanar_? How about _Axanar's_ Korolev, Geronimo, and Marlin-Class Humboldt TOS designs?
If you are going to raise the IP argument here, know this: The U.S.S. Vengeance and provoking war with the Klingons is straight out of Diane Carey's Star Trek Novel, _Dreadnought_. The unspoken assumption is the Adm. Marcus will use Vengeance to win the war and then place himself into power (again from _Dreadnought_, but an Admiral of different name). With the Temporal Agent update around the corner, these would be excellent TOS style ships to add to the game.

"Inspired by" versions, well, you never know i guess.
Sad though... I think the drama has less to do IP, but more to do with Axanar having a better story, ship designs and combat effects than the Abrams movies... and all on a lower budget, too. CBS/Paramount should have signed on and invested in the project.
The point still stands that if it isn't owned by CBS cryptic isn't allowed to use it unless they can cut some deals with the owner like they did with paramount to be able to add the JJ-stuff.
Yeah, I seriously doubt this would be considered getting on the good side of CBS/Paramount.
All things Axanar need to be buried under Yucca Mountain until they decay to safe levels.
Or it's because Alec Peters is a colossal douchebag who took money for a fan-film project for an intellectual property he does not own. Gave himself a nice $38k paycheck from crowdfunding, and used that money meant for Axanar to open his own production studio for stuff not related to Star Trek.
Alec Peters plain and simple used something that wasn't his in order make a lot of money for his personal gain. Now all the fan films for Star Trek suffer because CBS Studio and Paramount are compelled to protect their intellectual property, unless they want to risk it falling into the public domain.
But don't let pesky things like "Facts" and "Reality" get in the way of a good old fashioned hatestorm directed at the big mean Hollywood bullies.
No i think all things axanar should be buried in the new mexico desert and have a 5 feet thick concrete cover placed on it and forgotten about till some idiots calling themsleves archeaologists dig up the unholy pile of filth.
Anyone know the difference between Alec Peters and JJ Abrams?
JJ Abrams actually made Star trek!
HAPPY KELVIN DAY!!!!
Some of the facts and reality you have ignored, can be found here. Ares Studios is quite open about everything they did and why, whereas CBS was vague and evasive on subject of fan films.

The novel is involved *IF* Diane Carey should choose to challenge Paramount/CBS on IP issue. She won't, because she doesn't have the funds necessary to challenge Paramount or CBS. Should this happen, Cryptic will get dragged into it eventually.
As someone who has read "Dreadnought", The similarities are more than enough to warrant challenge (White Wolf Games received a settlement for the use of the word "Abomination" to describe a hybrid werewolf/vampire in Sony's _Underworld_. Even though everything else in the movie was largely unrelated to their World of Darkness...).
After the Axanar scuffle, I think Diane has a wonderful shot at making some money off of CBS/Paramount.
Bad joke. Besides, _Prelude to Axanar_ is out there, as is Phase II, so Alec Peters made Star Trek, too.
I wish they would change the Nacelles on the Abrams class. Externally, it looks like a nice hybrid of TOS and the TOS Movie refit, but the Nacelles look like Boeing 747 engines. Internally, the bridge is cool, but engineering need some compartmentalization. Maybe after the Abrams class Enterprise gets destroyed in _Beyond_, we'll see a better looking ship.
Personally, the ship I wanted to see introduced in game was the USS Kelvin. Single nacelle, saucer and hull. That's a neat little ship.
Put your rage aside and watch Prelude to Axanar. It really is good.
And OBSG Apollo makes one hell of a Klingon.
