Hmm, have not had this problem yet. Still taking me about 12-14 seconds.

Here's another, with my chat channels edited/erased for privacy. I could probably upload 20 of these but I doubt they reveal anything more to developers 'responsible' for fixing stuff.

Reporting in case it relates to the minute-long loading times on Risa: Another bug I've also run into accidentally by hopping off of the elite UFP board straight into the superior floater then dropping off onto the left pylon of the dance (something I could not replicate), resulting in my character walking on a different horizontal plane at super speed. Pressing space rotated my character's axis slightly upwards and also increased elevation, and toggling floater again returned me to normal time-space. The journey to Devidian space was ridiculous and quite funny, but I'd rather have a properly working Risa 2016. Screenshot is of someone else who somehow triggered the bug.

same here, makes it very difficult to switch toons to do the events.

I get that bug too, though for me it occurs if I rapidly switch off my floater then immediately switch it on again. So it happens a lot during the Hognar Hunt - or whatever those critters are called - because my floater continuously deactivate when I pick up the critter, I switch it on again to move on to the next spot and run into this bug about 2 times out of 10 or so.

Someone get a screencap of the red lines. I want to examine them for research into how the scanning game works. :p I'm trying to make one myself, but it's rather.... intermittent as to when they appear.

There's a thread for this, bughunter.

Enh, not sure, but yeah I sometimes see it.

I wonder if 94% is the stage of loading where it assigns a zone number? Risa has a lot of them.

It's almost certainly the automated instance picker causing this. I set all of my characters into one medium to light population instance last night, and when I was switching through them, they would load fine. Not particularly fast, but with just a few seconds of pause in the loading screen. When one got bumped to a different instance, not due to the instance that I selected having closed out, because it was still there on characters I switched to later, it would go back to a pause of 30 seconds or more during the load screen, which ended when it finally switched from Loading... to Loading Risa, and I would always be in a different instance than the one that I selected when this happened. It swaps you to a new instance if you happen to switch characters at the moment that a formerly-full instance becomes open. If It does that, then you're guaranteed a longer load time during that load, and almost guaranteed another one the next time on that character, since that nearly-full instance will probably be full the next time that you log in on that character, which means it will have to pick the next-most-full instance for you, and that instance switch will also cause the same hang-up on the loading screen, and it will likely just cascade from there on for that character, unless you go back and manually pick your medium to low population instance, and hope that it either doesn't get to near-full or empty out to nothing, or that you don't just happen to switch when a formerly-full instance gets an opening.

It's frustrating. I've always disliked the automated instance picker, and now that it's actively causing the program to choke on loading, I like it even less. I don't care that a formerly-full instance has a slot open now, just put me back in the perfectly-good instance I already chose, so long as it's still open. Either they should change the coding on it to not always try and put you in an instance that has a new vacancy, or with friends or fleetmates, or they should allow us to select an instance manually, like the trains and boats in City of Heroes did, when we load into a zone that has more than one instance. The selection tool exists, give us the power by letting us use it. Make it an optional checkbox to opt out of the automated instance selector, if you must.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.

there has been an omega explosion at risa ... please avoid the system as you become trapped in the subspace between maps....do not approach the planet until the next standard patch.

Will they fix this in the patch and extend the event? Momos...

I expect they'll fix it in a patch, but not sure if they'll extend the event.

It was above 60 when I first got on today. Zones, I mean. :)

Someone was saying that the new Temporal game on Risa might be the cause of the 94% loading lag since those game maps seem to show up once you load. I have noticed that even when I get to Risa, I have to wait a few seconds before I can move my character. The longest lag I had at 94% was about 2 minutes, so you might have to wait that long before the map loads.

I think my longest was 5 minutes... it can be really bad... or not. sometimes loading is almost normal.. but it's never been what I would consider fast by the standard of previous years.

This is bull**it. I respect these people, but why aren't they addressing this now? How many more days of this TRIBBLE have to go by bfore they fix their faulty product???

I'd say it'll come on maint day. Until then I just pick three and go for it.

It's taking me nearly 3 minutes to log into Risa, same if I switch toons. Same for every toon, every time. 40-90 secs to change instance. I sometimes get the red lines too, tons of them behind the resort. Warping during the hunt is dismaying, nearly have to millimeter my way to a statue once I get close to where one is. Precision flying is impossible this year. I used to get 5-6 toons thru a hunt, now I'm happy to get 2. Often have to fly blind thru a race, very few obstacles can be seen, collisions are unavoidable. 1-2 minutes to FINISH the race.
I've played every summer event since the game was FTP. Lag get worse each year. Got especially bad after last expansion. I shudder to think how the summer event will be after the next expansion.
The rest of the game plays great except New Romulus, still laggy since season 9.

    UPDATE:
Load times today were >3min for 4of 5 toons. Didn't want to spend that long waiting, so looked around forums. Players with similiar issues stated they tried launching the .exe or thru Steam and the game played better. The .exe didn't make a notable difference. Logged in through Steam with a very notable difference. Average load times into Risa varied between 55 to 79 secs, with one load at 1:53, and instance change taking around 30-40 secs. Not much improvement with flying and racing. Objects still not visible in places along race..especially the river grotto. Flying less warpy, so much less that getting close to statues are within a reasonable effort, but still not the precision flying of the first few years. And no red lines at load up. Interact buttons taking only 1 click most times times (instead of 3 or 4 or 8). So, loading thru Steam made a better than marginal and positive difference :)

*sigh* Was fine at first but now I got the long load times as well similar to how it was with ds9, goes to some 95% and then hangs there for a long while.

I don't have any problems with lag once I get onto Risa. Maybe just a little, but the hunt goes smoothly, the race goes as smoothly as a race can go.

I did have major problems with lag during Crystalline. but I figured out it was my monitor resolution, as I'd had to swap to another one between the times I was playing and not playing and playing again. I didn't think to check and adjust at the time. Now everything works as intended.

Unless you're using a CRT for retro purposes or something, LCDs have their set native resolution outside of which results in really poor image reproduction. Resolution has a big impact on performance. A possible workaround would be to reduce renderscale slightly, or just lower graphics.

Anything outside of say under 10 seconds (on an SSD STO install) to me indicates a problem on with map loading. Risa takes between 20 sec upwards of 3 minutes to load. That is a bug.

I had never really paid any attention to the number of instances, but now that you mention the instance picker, I've noticed that when I do finally get my character to load, I'm in the upper range of instances, like 38 or 44. Is there an upper limit to the number of instances in a single system that can be populated? BTW, once I got a 'toon off Risa and back to sector space, even the 30-second SNR's I was experiencing between fleet holdings was gone! Risa seems to be the epicenter of lag for the game now, with the exception of the usual "Cogent gap" I normally see from 0315-0345 daily. And apparently, I need to try waiting a few minutes after the 94% mark to see if the loader will finish; so far, I lose sound after 1 minute, and I start pushing buttons to try to kick it a bit... :*
