Since there is a Crystalline Energy Torpedo and a Crystalline Absorption Matrix, shouldn't these two item be part of a set and receive a set bonus ability?
The torpedo came from a previous Crystalline Entity event, so unless there was a way for everybody to get that set bonus (specifically those who didn't/couldn't get the torpedo) then that would give those players who chose to do the previous event an unfair advantage.

All event ships up to this point come with items that are part of a set which is no longer obtainable. It's no hindrance.
I'd support a set bonus for our crystaline items. I'd even add the crystaline shard non-combat pet to it (needs to be slotted in a device slot to grant the set bonus).

I agree I would not mind having the crystalline torpedo, and the new absorption matrix being turned into a set, not sure about adding a non-combat pet to counting towards the set. I personally hope we might get a crystalline shard combat hanger-pet that would count towards the set bonus, not sure if they should be set up as fighters or shuttles or even frigates though.

I'm not sure either, but it would be the third space item obtained from the event so I figured why not

It is that individual persons fault for missing the chance of getting that item via the event. I only got the torpedo on two of my eight toons, but would love to have them on the other six. That is my fault for not taking the time to do the event on each toon. I'm not crying about it. I just think that there should be a set bonus even if it is just for the two items, a third item and second bonus could be added later. PWE did this on the Risan corvette and cruiser and even on the Breen ships. I think the set bonus should either be a boost to anti-proton damage or hull health or resistance bonus.
Yeah, who cares about people who didnt get one time rewards. They should understand that they werent here and they couldnt get it. If they dont understand they have a childlike mentality.
I could see a anti-proton buff to it, though do we need more damage buffs to anti-proton weapons? I personally always thought the crystalline torp was anti-proton energy within a crystalline shell, and that the set might give it a chance to splinter this crystalline shell thus sending shards of it outwards that inflict kinetic damage to nearby targets (maybe with a 25% shield bypass that becomes 75-100% with the three piece). I could see it being both a hull buff to hp and resistance/hardness actually.
Now honestly what kind of weapon layout would you give, and also what type of ship class would you do for a crystalline shard hanger-pet? I think I would want to do a shuttle type with anti-proton dual beams an a anti-proton type torpedo, while also having a suicide type ability it activates near low hp to ram the target near it (kinda like the herald Mir ship i think it is).
officerbatman81, that sounds good Put the non-combat pet as a hanger item and as the third part of the set with asuran14s suggest of weapons array and the suicide run at low health. There is a universal console that launches the globes (probes) like Iconian ships do, it gives antiproton damage, the Obelisk carrier warp core gives antiproton damage. The Crystalline Energy Torpedo gains modifiers which gives any antiproton modifiers (antiproton tactical consoles, 2 piece bonus of Adaptive Omega, Rule 62, all these gives the Crystalline Eneregy Torpedo damage modifiers. This includes the new Crystalline Energy Matirx console.
I my opinion, the Antiproton is the best build in the game, followed closely by Polaron, Phaser/Disruptor and then Tetryon. The Antiproton build is the only one that has three 360 degree beam weapons, 4 if you put the Cutter Beam. The Bio Neural weapon uses an antiproton weapon as its point defense system and gains a benefit from torpedo boosts and antiproton boosts for its point defense system. This creates an impressive build for a ship with twelve console slots.
I was looking at some of the mines we have, and think that the tether-mine concept of the tether quantum mines is pretty interesting. It could be interesting to do a mine that uses the crystalline shard in a mini-look, which after being deployed are tethered to your ship till a enemy is within range for them to transit towards an detonate upon. These could go either anti-proton or kinetic damage type, and could be used with the dispersal patterns that we have for mines. Even though mines are not often used, I think this would be an interesting way of making such a mine interesting enough for people to use it.

Frigates that ram the target, then split into a pair of fighters that also ram the target

How about using the non-combat pet in a weapon slot and it launch crystalline mines?
I would rather see them turn the crystalline pet into a fully on hanger-pet either fighter or frigate based (maybe have it have stats in between both), and then either have a full on crystalline entity mine weapon added this coming year. I also think tht would be more worthwhile to expend time on, while also easier to implement (maybe allow it as both a device an hanger-bay to allow all ships to use it.).

3pc bonus is miniature crystaline combat pet that lasts for 2min, 15 min cooldown.

Yes, a non-combat pet from three years ago.

Can you attach some info on this, i cant find any material about it.
Was this before Feb '14?
It's a small shard, given out in 2013 (as I said, three years ago )
