Please oh Please Fix ESD

Just got myself through the first mission and tutorial, got myself to ESD. And . . .
For a brief moment, before it cut away to the interior, I felt a spot of excitement as I briefly saw the general shape of ESD. I thought to myself 'No, they couldn't have gone with that design, could they?' And I eagerly rushed through the content to confirm my hopes, get outside, and see for myself.
I was immensely disappointed when I saw this:

I had HOPED that what I would see would be this:

I understand that directly using the J-type starbase may have some problematic licensing involved, as much as I'd love to see Vanguard canon ships and stations brought in. However, the present ESD that is in place is just terrible. It does not look like it has the capability to handle the traffic of the entire Starfleet, small as it is for the TOS era.
Please, Cryptic, fix the ESD.
PS: I want the uniforms from The Cage.

And then scatter some dry docks around it. But it seems like they are trying to combine the K-7 and Regula/Orbital Office-style designs in the K-13 station. The interior could be similar to the old ESD with all of the shops and lounges in the "Promenade" section while the shipyard (overlooking the drydocks) and Garrett's office (overlooking Earth) could be in one of the out-lying pods.
It also seems silly that the 23rd Century "ESD" is surrounded by 25th Century ships.
