It's well known that Nimoy felt type cast because of the Spock character.
I can' blame him, the only thing people would remember of his career was his role as Spock.
After a while, I'm sure it became very problematic for him, when trying to get other "different roles".
It's not that he was ungrateful, it just made his life as an actor more difficult.
He was so recognizable as Spock, that producer couldn't picture him in other very different roles, and he didn't work as much as he wanted to because of this.
True. He had a book I'm not Spock then later I'm Spock. He accepted his fate as a sci-fi icon I think. But yeah he turned to photography instead of acting.
Also Picardo was said to be pissed about that Quinto had voiced the medical hologram. But Delta Rising was a good homage for Voyager and done justice to the whole cast. DR's best feature was the voice acting.
Also I think STO is more than a game. It is (or was by next january) the only real connection to the prime timeline in Star Trek (minus mobile cashgrabs). I'm grateful we have this game.
As has mentioned above the actors are paid to be at the con. For some it's extra $$ so it's a job. My experience with stars is if you pay for an autograph they will probably sign whatever you want (within reason) if your nice about it.

There are worse things he could have become typecast for.
Suppose so, but ask yourself, if you were a director/producer at the time, and Nimoy came in for an audition, would you have seen him as anything other then Spock ?
Would you have given the role to him despite the wide recognition as Spock ?
Not many did.
Don't get me wrong, Spock is one of my favorite Trek characters, just saying, his acting options really dried up after doing Trek.
I would like to go to a Star Trek convention where Patrick Stewart is appearing. Go up and ask a far out ludicrous question that incorporates some work he has done (Dune, Excalibur, Safe House, LA Story, Lifeforce, etc) and things he never worked one (Terminator, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Star Wars) and how that pertains to how liquid soap is made, before handing him a playbill from when he did his one-man show of A Christmas Carol and asking for an autograph.

And yet i seem to remember Nimoy saying once that after Star Trek "That he never had to worry about being out of a job ever again"
I completely understand a Star Trek actors frustration of being associated with one role or being remembered for this one thing but i think most of them should get a grip, get down and kiss Roddernberry's grave stone. It if wasn't for him, none of these actors would of had the success or finacial stability that they now enjoy. They should try doing my job...now that's repetitive nonsense.

You're selling Nimoy short. He had done a lot of roles on TV over the years. He got a lot of work doing one-shot roles on shows like The Outer Limits, like this appearance in Dragnet. https://youtu.be/AtApm_dpWpk?t=112
So, it was no big thing for him to get a job working at Desilu, edging out Martin landau for the role of Spock.
Sure but he also said that he felt like he lost out on several other roles he really wanted over the years, because of the Spock recognition.
No one is saying he had any trouble finding work. There was plenty for him. Just not exactly the kind of roles he wanted to pursue. But a paycheck is a paycheck.
And that is not to say he didn't enjoy any of the work he did after Trek.

Well, the thing is, a lot of actors don't even really like the shows/movies they are in. Not talking just about Trek actors here, but for a Trek example, Wallace Shawn, who played Grand Nagus Zek, doesn't even watch TV, which he mentioned in an interview. Patrick Stewart has said that he doesn't like Sci-Fi, Cartoons, Comic Books, or Video Games. After all they are just people like anyone else, how much do most of us like our job?
See, that's what baffles me. If Combs didn't like Trek, he sure signed up to play a lot of roles for it. You'd think he would want to have as little to do with it as possible and try to find roles elsewhere if Trek wasn't his thing.
This is why I'm asking out for anyone's past encounters, so I can get a "feel" for what topics to avoid. God only knows that most fans aren't likely going to ask him to sign their photos of Edgar Allan Poe for them.
I really am hoping that there's an anti-Trek bias being held by some of it's principal actors is a falsehood.
Why would they do it? For the money - plain and simple. Working actors like to work, and they'll happily take a gig for a decent paycheck. They are hired to play a role; and if they agree, that's what they do. Whether they like the role (that's certainly a plus) or the script; it's a job they do and good ones can do their best even if they don't necessarily like the material.
Hell, Michael Dorn pretty much said (with regard to what had been written for Worf in STO) it's not where he saw the character going; but he came it read his lines, cashed the check and went on his way.
MD has a full press Bring back Worf as a starship Captain campaign going on.
And there are some who don't even know what STO is. Met George Takei a few days ago at the Kansas City Comicon, had no clue what I was talking about even when I told him that it was an online video game that was using his likeness(AoY expansion). Said something to the effect of "They keep me in the dark about that stuff".
Hopefully Jeffrey don't have anything against Star Trek, because he is a great actor, a awesome voice actor and think we all would love him to be part of STO in the future.

That and Branflakes annoyed him on twitter and got blocked for it.
If the above excerpt is an example of how "STO" (whoever it was writing those tweets) approached Shatner, basically spamming him with "come work with us, Nimoy did it so you have to as well please please please" I completely understand why he would reject any kind of cooperation with PWE/Cryptic. It also sheds a poor light on how these guys seem to approach celebrities/actors to endorse their game

I saw the Dragnet with Nimoy as a violent spousal abuser. I'm sorry, but his attempt at playing a role in which he displayed large amounts of emotion just kind of fell flat.
It's not that you were typecast as Spock, Leonard - it's that Spock and Sherlock Holmes were the roles you were born to play. You did those exceptionally well. You just weren't that great at emoting.

Wow, I've never thought someone would choose to get banned just to get that Shatner hatespeech out of their system.

Shatner has been known to dis STO on occasion, at least on his Twitter account.
Yeah because he was hired to hawk that TRIBBLE JJ verse game.
That and Branflakes annoyed him on twitter and got blocked for it.
The STO staff have a talent for alienating a lot of Trek veterans. Rick Sternbach still remembers his encounter with the developers in the early days of the game, and not too fondly.
Yeah, that struck me as odd. Outside of stage work and the occasional movie, that's pretty much what Stewart does now days with American Dad and on rare occasion Family Guy. I guess the old saying goes is money talks.
