Just curious as to other Romulan players thoughts on the upcoming expansion.
Me, thus far it is everything I don't want to see happening in STO.

All that despite knowing it will be hack job writing, full of bugs, and abandoned shortly after release.

oh trust me... I get what yer sayin and where you're comin from... and literally ANY other time than this you'll NEVER see me throw out $50 for a full brand new game! I am a cheap TRIBBLE :P I don't even know why I'm so hyped for this expansion... [Unnecessary insults removed]
As for the money its an xmas present that I can only spend online anyway(I dont have a bank acct linked to paypal) so all I'm depleting is my online game purchasing fund lol... I may be crazy but I'm not THAT far gone
On a side note, I started playing Final Fantasy XIV over this last weekend, and not only is it great, and pretty, it showed me how horrible STO is as a game in general. No lag, run the game on max (MAX!) settings with no problems. I think I had to lower my settings from max on STO, I tried it when I got my shinny new alienware like 8 months ago.

Umm have you paid attention to the plots? They flat out state we're going to be absorbed in a few hundred years
I have been, and I know, which is probably part of the reason I have been playing less.
I think it wouldn't bother me so much if I didn't know that UFP is basically means humans, and how they see/do things, I am not saying that they burn and destroy all cultures, it's just they are the primary, everything revolves around them. Even though Starfleet is just the military wing, it's basically all human designed ships. Also that Cryptic just wants a single faction game because it is easier.
(and honestly, an MMO can be single faction, it can work, but I don't know that Star Trek is a place that works well, or at all.)

but Quark nailed it
The Far Stars await. In the mean time, we must bite the bullet.

It seems as well that the TOS stuff is going to be a new faction as well, which is fine with me. It keeps the TOS stuff somewhat separate from the general Fed gameplay, which is ideal in my eyes. I think Cryptic is doing a good job with implementing this, from the information we've seen so far. I can't say anything has really stood out as a problem for me so far - really, everything I've seen has been exciting.
frankly Im more worried by these new 'faction agnostic' ships.... cryptic now has a way to completely disregard KDF and RR ships
Now that you mention it, it's starting to worry me too.
Agreed 100%. "Faction agnostic" ships remind me of Ambrose Bierce's definition of compromise in "The Devil's Dictionary":
Compromise
n. Such an adjustment of conflicting interests as gives each adversary the satisfaction of thinking he has got what he ought not to have, and is deprived of nothing except what was justly his due.
Or as that prolific philosopher Anon
"Compromise is where nobody gets what they want.”

But on topic, I like that they're doing TOS in the expansion, as for me it's the most "Star Trek" Star Trek. All but one of my characters is TOS (Roms, Feds, Klingon and Gorn). I'm especially glad to see the TOS-ified Gorn in one of the screenies - I think my Gorn character has a serious jaunt to the tailor coming.
That being said, it's a pile of horse s**t that KDF and Rom got screwed over in this deal. And I've heard through a source who knows someone that the stuff that's on Tribble might as well have been written by a child, it's that horrible. That doesn't give me hope, but I can't say I'm surprised. After Midnight, the writing has declined and become overly predictable and rushed. I mean, this latest episode was on the same level of predictableness as a telenovela. And that's saying something.
I feel like the devs are rushing this expansion out in a desperate bid to keep people from leaving and to keep people happy with new stuff and a new pack. Yes, they'll make money, but at what cost? If the subscribers spread the word about how horrible the new content is on Tribble, can you imagine how little people on Holodeck will invest in it?
Sorry, didn't mean to write a small essay on the subject, but I hate that I wasted money on a crappy expansion when I could have used it to buy glasses instead of saving up a month and a half's worth of paychecks to get them.
Actually I'm so hyped, that I did quite a lot to be able to spend the 130 Euro on the pack... for some reason it's region-locked, and I couldn't even see the content of the pack in Poland. However... since I travel a lot on business - I was able to make the online purchase when I was browsing STO page in a hotel in Hungary
Having said that - I would love to see at least some TOS content for the Klingons, and especially Romulans. I doubt it's ever going to happen, but still - that's something that would be great to see in game. I could also see (hear
Sorry for the long post
LLAP
here's hopin she's buyable
OMG, she'd BETTER be!
Thank you for sharing the gorgeous screenies, too!
All of the negativity and disparagement posted in these forums about this topic is bothersome. Especially when it comes from people who allege they are fans of Star Trek. The money thing I get. US $130.00 is a lot of cash for a game. The other comments are opinions. Which people are allowed to have. But I sometimes wish they would exercise some restraint before firing off yet another rage fest about how Cryptic and this game and its players have all conspired to ruin thier whole lives because the Devs did not add in something or other to the game just for them.
I'm going to spend the cash, play the expansion, and enjoy myself while doing both. Because this is game I like. I am not blind to its flaws. And if the expansion means I have to play on the Blue Side for awhile, I'm okay with it.
I'd rather play the game I have than sit around bitchin' in public about the game I wish I had. Because no game developer on the planet could ever give me that game. And if any game company is ever able to do so, the subscription fees and system requirements will be through the roof.
Nope. NPC only.
The Republic stretches out her hands to the Klingon, Cardassian, and Federation seperatist, brothers & sisters.

and on the flip side, my extreme cheapo TRIBBLE is forkin over $130 for all the TOS goodies
Claiming that the aesthetic of TOS is outdated sounds rather hypocritical coming from someone whose avatar is Robby the Robot, who predates TOS by a decade, and made his debut in "Forbidden Planet" (one of my all-time favourite movies, BTW), the movie which inspired TOS.
If you don't like TOS, that's your opinion and you are certainly entitled to it; but don't try to claim that you don't like it because it's outdated, when your own avatar is even MORE outdated.
