How to take the starfield character screenshots?

I've noticed a few of you posting collections of screenshots of captains and BOFFs here, sometimes as a group. It's obvious these have been Photoshopped or otherwise edited together, because there's a repeated starry background behind the characters, that I assume may be some sort of standard screen capture in the game.

How are people taking these? is there an in-game screen command to capture character models (older MMO's including classic EQ let you do this with the paperdoll, etc. command). Or are you taking the screens in a certain zone or location?

    It might help if you can show an example of what you're talking about.

    I think they're referring to image of the character select screen where you see you and your BOFFs lined up in front of your ship. At least that's the impression I got from the post.

    This what I was talking about. The stars look different...is the this the character select menu, or something else?

    Ah.. I think those were taken with the old tailor.. it looked like this at the beginning (before the tailor revamp).

    Definitely old tailor. It looked much better than the current holodeck background.​​

    I wasn't even playing before they changed the tailor shop. That old backgrownd looks a whole lot better. I wish it still looked like that.

    Alright, @galactickiri, I have a present for you. I've published a Foundry mission called "Screenshot Photobooth". You'll have to look for it in the review tab. It's a single map that puts your away team in an invisible box in space. You can use it to take space shots to your heart's content. The door is at Starfleet academy at the console in Holodeck 2 (the middle one.)

    That old tailor must be pretty old indeed; I started playing shortly after STO went F2P and never saw it. In some ways I like it better because it's minimalist. Perhaps we should have the option to switch from the old and current UI's.

    Found a couple for the Federation, just search Green screen. I haven't looked to see if there are any for the KDF.

    Found a couple for the Federation, just search Green screen. I haven't looked to see if there are any for the KDF.

    I found the green screen mission, but can't find the entrance for it. Some of the user comments reflected this issue that the creator was very vague about this one.

    Um, is this a Klingon side mission? I haven't been able to find it in the Foundry search.

    It's Fed side under the review tab.
