Maybe I'm late to that party on this one. Playing a mission and use auto pilot to bring me to a system to begin a mission - only cryptic missions have this functionality. But once I got to the system, still not in range to begin because I'm not close enough to the star, I decided to click the auto pilot again and lo and behold it auto navigates directly to the planet within in range of getting the mission popup.
Can this be done widespread? Say for example I'm in sector space somewhere and I click on a destination from the map which then functions like a mission objective starting point with a task window with the auto nav button. That way when we arrive the system we can click the auto pilot button again and fly to the planet. Would work really well if you opened other planets in a system you could have a choice of which planet to fly to.

TacoFang told us back when the new universe map came out, that They decided it would have been too cost/time prohibitive to have done so.

OK. I remember discussion about it and it being to expensive code wise, which made sense at the time. But then I ran into this functionality and thought - well, they must be half way there already.
oh well.
