This is a game, not a job for me. I don't have any obligation to do anything that I don't feel like doing just so that the game's queues somehow work for me in some way.

    A fair point.

But the counter point is that the rest of us have no obligation to make the game fun for you either. Ultimately, you're responsible for your own experience, options are available, if you choose not to take them it's on you. To expect sweeping global change to make the game more appealing to you is unfair to those of us that are having fun the way the game currently is. Just like those of us that want to melt things in seconds have DPS channels, those that wish to take things slower also have options available to them. If you don't opt to use those options, then that decision is yours alone.

Speaking as a non-parsing player I find that the Dev team has done a good job making the game fun.

Sure, it is still a fine single player game. I am just giving feedback about how and why the multi-player part has some... issues. The devs are aware that the queues are mostly empty. That's why Geko thought about removing some of them, or put them on some kind of rotation.

But that would be working on the symptom, not the disease.

The queues are active. I PUG almost every day.

I also do private queues with my fleet when I can make the scheduled events.

I also run some stuff with the STB channel.

See, that's what I've been trying to suggest this entire time. There's a lot of options besides running single player episodes and hitting quick queues. This thread exists because you hooked up with e30ernest and crew.

Well here's a fun suggestion. Your other thread is a poll. In that poll are 30 people who voted in a way that agrees with your assessment. And your poll is public. So you know who they are. They know who you are.

That's 30 potential people to make friends with. To try and schedule some fun with.

Swipe right! Make a connection! See where it leads?

    Try playing an Elite.

I do. There's a couple of elites that are easy to queue up for each day. And the others, I talk to friends, fleetmates or a specific channel to do. Those require more organization, but that's it. If you really want to cut your teeth on Hive Space Elite, you have a lot of options to do it.

But it's more than just clicking a button. If you want to just click a button and get auto-grouped with people, you're going to have to queue up for the most popular maps.

No, it doesn't. In my opinion, there is a problem with the game mechanics. That is the reason for this thread.

Please. Try to understand what I am saying.

Game mechanics aren't the issue. Queue-ing for specific maps isn't an automatic thing. And it requires getting people involved. That's always been the case. In pretty much every MMO I've ever played. Whether it's a Plane of Fear raid, a Upper Blackrock Spire run, or some Huttball.

So have you tried talking to the 30 people that voted yes in your poll thread? You only need 4 of them to put a team together.

    I do.

Interesting. How long ago was your last run of HOSE? How long did it last? Did it feel as if it might fail?

2 Weeks ago. It did fail. It's not really my favorite map. So I don't run it as often as others.

People complained when HSE was too hard. Some people did it for the challenge. People complained about the people who complained about the change to HSE Tac Cubes. The cubes now have lower resistances, and it's too easy now when you run w/ an experienced group that's used to the harder version.

PESTF is over there for a challenge if you wish.

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.

If a queue is too hard, people won't run it.

If a queue is too easy, people will run it continually, but some will complain.

It's hard to blame Cryptic for going with option B. One gets players to play, the other make them stop.

I'm sure we can all do the math.

I think it's time to be blunt: the only reason why you felt that this Hive run was easy is because a competent team of players specialized for HSE carried you.

I haven't been playing that long (a little over 2 years) so moving up in damage is still fresh in my memory. While it may seem like high DPS players are face rolling content, it is more involved than you think. It is a lot of work especially when you don't use keybinds.

I find it easier to win content puttering along at 30k than winning it while pushing up beyond 70k. You've got to manage your cool downs right, you have to use the right skills at the right time. On top of that, I also have to aim and time my shots while maneuvering my ship to intercept the next wave. I actually count the seconds to time my skills. I reserve them, staggering them so that they'll eventually line up at the best part of the map to unleash them.

The NPCs aren't more difficult at a lower DPS level. Their difficulty remains the same. The tactics for beating them remain the same. You get hit for the same damage. The only thing that changes is that it takes longer.

This is one of the most misunderstood aspects of high DPS runs. It takes a lot more effort to blitz a map than it is to trod along. It's akin to running a 100 meter dash vs walking it.

In that HSE run, it would be easier for us if we slowed the map down. We try to speed through it because that is part of what makes it a challenge. We did the heavy lifting for you and that's why you felt it was easy.

Um nope. We applied our knowledge of the map to utilize our firepower and ship strengths the best possible way. Bring a random team over and watch yourself get whooped.

That run wasn't just about the damage and your confirmation bias is blinding you from that fact.

I'd agree with this - sure, sometimes I end up in PUG runs that are over in 10 seconds because there are members of team doing insane DPS, but so what? They're playing their way, they're breaking no rules by doing so and that's entirely their business. Just because how they play and how I play are different doesn't make either right or wrong and nor does it mean that the game should be fundamentally changed to balance the two - variety is the spice of life, and all that.

There are plenty of things that I or anyone else, including the OP, can do which don't require crazy DPS to do and have fun doing. As for the original example using HSE, it would seem logical to me that the kind of player/team who would want to run that would be the kind of who would have a strategy and plan to make it comfortable for themselves. The OP seems somehow surprised though that players doing an Elite PvE would be playing at an Elite level...*shrug*.
