Weapon flavour vs weapon flavour comparison

Now that we have more weapons available to play around with. Does anyone have any comparison between them?

Romulan plasma vs Chronoplasma
does the plasma DOT make up for the loss of damage from reduced resistance?

Agony Phaser vs Normal Phaser

How does the extra DOT phaser damage compare with the craft Crit D [pen] combo?

I'm in the process of building one of each, just want to see which one is the more economical one to go with.

    A dev recently commented the agony phaser's main proc effect - disabling the target - hadn't been hooked up properly. When it is, the phaser DOT will look like the small potatoes it is compared to the CC you're dishing out :).

    what exactly is the diabling proc? I assume it's 0 power level to everything? This would make it far better than normal phaser with a random sub system disable

    A Disable prevents the affected target from using abilities. We can restrict it to a subset, such as disabling weapons or Engineering Bridge Officer abilities, or leave it broad.

    If we don't restrict it, the Disable will block access to just about everything which isn't standard movement. Some abilities can ignore being Disabled, but this is relatively rare.

    Agony phasers don't mention any restrictions so I was acting under the assumption "they block access to just about everything which isn't standard movement".

    When they work :blush:.
