The bug preventing the use of B'Rotlh skin on the Kor Bird-of-Prey

thetaninethetanine Member Posts: 1,367 Arc User
I'm NOT reporting a Bug.

I'm asking a question. So, please do not post in this thread that bug reporting is for another forum.

Again: I am NOT reporting a bug.

QUESTION: Does anyone have any information from Cryptic that would let us know the status of kdf players being able to use the B'Rotlh skin on our T6/T6 Fleet Birds of Prey (aka KOR BoP)?

Thank You!

I wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't even acknowledged it yet. Though I think they might have? Even if they have, I guarantee it's low on the priorities list.

Bug reporting belongs in another forum.

Seriously, saying you just want the status of a bug report does not make this the right forum to discuss bug reports.

LOL, this bug has existed for quite some time with no acknowledgement from the devs, despite it being an advertised feature of the ship when it was released back in November 2015. There's been multiple bug report threads about it on the proper forums since day one of the Kor BoP being available, but it doesn't seem that the devs check that forum often since this bug is not even listed in the "known issues" section of patch notes.

The lack of attention this bug has received doesn't really surprise me though, since there are tons of bugs/weird oversights solely affecting KDF/RRF stuff that have been present for years with no attention. I guess that's the price you pay for having a smaller company producing this game, and said smaller company mostly focusing on the Starfleet/Federation side of things. Regardless, that's no reason for these issues to be ignored or neglected.

I made a full list of these bugs in my thread HERE, and honestly the only one on that list that has really been acknowledged is the floating braziers on Qo'noS and other Klingon planets, and even then it's still not listed as a "known issue".

Though none of these bugs/oversights affect gameplay and are mainly aesthetic, it is very obvious to the casual observer that they are not WAI, yet they've managed to exist in STO for so long they've kinda just been accepted as the norm, which is very not okay. The most prominent example of this is the green warp-out trails Fed characters get every now and then. This bug has been around since Season 10 launched a year ago. It's a painfully-apparent issue that everybody has experienced at least once, yet it has also not been acknowledged.

Basically, it would be fantastic if this bug got fixed, but I wouldn't place money on it happening before this game's life cycle has ended, unfortunately. It just seems that Cryptic is too undermanned to be able to fix these things in a timely fashion while still working to create new content for us to enjoy. "Hello Rock, meet Hard Place!" :(

No, no one does. We can only assume that the people that could fix the issue are scheduled to do other work, and the issue is not prioritized much.

This is hardly a new issue, the T5 Fleet B'rel has the same issue although the T5 C-store version can use it im told. This is a three year old bug. The only conclusion most of us can come to is that Cryptic simply don't care, for they surely know it exists.

The issue is also one of advertising something that is not true. Sure, the PWE overlords constantly expect more profit out of increasingly impossible workload demands and cutbacks, and keeping the game in one piece is a priority (attacks on servers, connectivity, serious bugs on tribble, etc.), but at the very least when writing the ad for the contents of the new C-Store item (Kor and fleet Kor) it is the marketer's job to ensure what is stated is valid at the point of sale as much as it is the 'engineer's' job to report things accurately to them. If quality control fail to test it or some unexpected game conditions cause a bug at the point of sale, then there's bug reports to which *someone* needs to prioritize this and either A. see that it is fixed by next patch, or B. alter the advertisement so it no longer misleads potential buyers of the B'Rotlh, B'rel, fleet B'Rel (fleet ship modules = C-Store), Kor, fleet Kor.

Edit to add: I did buy the B'Rotlh and was even aware of the reports of other players that the skin does not work on it since I wanted its console for the set bonus on the Kor and (falsely) believed that it would be fixed within a reasonable time frame so therefore treated the kitbash options as added incentive to spend the little bit of zen on that console especially since it also had a sale. I've made my bug report and submitted it in the Bug Reports section of the forum a while back.

The B'Rotlh is another modern variant of the classic B'rel design, featuring a lower-pitched head section, a beefed up engineering section and wings that fold forward more than the original. http://sto.gamepedia.com/Kor_Bird-of-Prey

Note: There is currently a bug preventing the use of this skin on the Kor Bird-of-Prey.

It's just so bad TRIBBLE. I really love this design and honestly this ship is what made me want to roll a KDF toon.

Also the K'tinga class battle cruiser has never been eclipsed by ANY Other Ship in the KDF's star navy. I don't understand why the Cryptic ship designers don't "cant" battle cruiser warp nacelles in like the D7/K'tinga has in its design. The shape of those ships ooze with predatory blood lust. And let's not forget the Koro't'inga class. Bad To The Bone.

And that's how my feline KDF toon was born.

I DO SUPPORT the KDF Faction as much as I can. I have most of their ships already, and I'm making room for more by drydocking the older, lower tier vessels (below T6/T6 Fleet).
