BOff Roster composition

stoltsstolts Member Posts: 482 Arc User
One of the commenters on my previous thread @aliensamongus shared his BOff makeup. That of the entire Star Trek: The Next Generation crew, lol. That got me interested in what other peoples' rosters are composed of and what backstory/theme they follow.

Mine is the Class of 2409. Even if and when I get unique BOffs from missions, reputation, or special events. I leave them in the Bridge Officer Candidates Roster, cause they can't replace my character's classmates.

What's yours?

The first Belfast was commanded by Captain Ve'Kal Shon until its destruction in 2409. A new ship was commissioned bearing the same name and registry as special dispensation to then newly promoted Captain Edward XIII for his pivotal role during the renewed Dominion War.

My boffs don't have any written back story. I do tend to keep the same names for my core boffs on different characters for my own sanity. Each character does have "themed" boffs. For instance, my Ferengi has a full Ferengi away team. But still keeps Romulan SRO's and other space traited boffs. My Cardassian-Alien-Romulan has a full Dominion away team but keeps all SRO's for space. My "Mirror" version of my main has boffs named "Mirror XYZ" version of those core boffs. It's all a bit of light fun for me.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

Thank you for pointing it out early on. Gotta change my original post to reflect not asking for BOff Bios. Otherwise mini novels will be posted on here, lol.

My Fed character started with the BOffs from the (pre-LoR) Tutorial. I don't have any unifying theme for the crew as a whole, except that they all have divergent backgrounds that come together under Graham's leadership. Ranging from John Blair, the underperforming officer that was written off by others as just another "career Ensign" until Graham saw his untapped potential and took him under his wing... to Darius Bestor, the Security officer with anger-management issues that received a disciplinary demotion, and transfer to Tactical/Helm, after a physical altercation with the ship's Security Chief (explaining a scar on the toon).

No theme for my KDF or RRF characters... they both use (purple replacements of) the default storyline BOffs, whose bios match their in-game backstories.

My RSE guy (KDF allied Rom) is very much "Rome in Space". Gaius Yulius Kesar (Gaius Julius Caesar) is an imperial loyalist, military commander, and politician who proclaimed himself Praetor (acting in the Empress' name, of course) after the death of Hakeev and disappearance of Sela. His crew includes: Tovan Khev (cousin to the RRF traitor of the same name), Doctor Sekunda (Satra), the Reman engineer Verilica (Veril), Centurion Quartus (Hiven), and Centurion Quintus (D'Vex), as well as a few Romulan Uhlans of various Romanesque names, Reman Guards, and Kesar's personal "Praetorian Guard" security officer.

Thanks for the mention. It compelled me to make a series of screenshots of my bridge crew. Riker and Worf still needs some work, but it's difficult with what we get.

I probably should of used Alien template on Picard for more accuracy, but still feel it's decent.

edited: original content moved to proper thread

Basic premise of what I had before. One of my KDF characters is Orion, and as I leveled him up I added more Orion Bridge Officers (eventually replacing them with purple quality) and made them various members of his family. The first two were his younger sister's. I'll post their combined bio's in the proper thread. I still have non-Orion Bridge Officers, as they don't believe in being exclusive. I have their family as believing in equality of the various beings in the galaxy.

Captain's Bios would be more appropriate sin
One of my KDF captain's main "theme" was getting his family reunited onto his bridge crew. My Orion captain, I wrote more of the story of his family in additional Orion Bridge Officer bio's as I got them from the game. Plus getting two or three more then then that. I can post the bio's from the Orion Bridge Officers and my captain in the order I wrote them, somewhere here on the forums, or in the thread about captain bio's if any one is interested. I also have it so they don't report to Malani Dilani(however it's spelled).

I'll make a forum signature pic of all my STO captain's within two or three days.

Captain's bios would be more appropriate since you said that his bio is extended to other BOffs. This thread is purely for BOff roster composition and what is the backstory or theme behind it.

Two of my characters have 'themes'...

I saved the look from all my characters and made my Main toon's boffs them. So he has all my other characters working for him. This sort of makes it feel like he is the center of attention and its pretty cool to get to see multiple of my characters (in theory) in the same away team. He also has a core of his original boffs from leveling up that i see as somewhere between boffs and doffs. They go on the less interesting away missions with him.

My other toon with a theme is my original character who used to be my Main before i decided to switch careers. I broke them into groups of 4-5 depending on their role so each group is a full away team complete with their own uniform/weapon style and i gave them all Roman military titles. First he's got a core of his original boffs. The ones i first leveled up back in 2010. I call them 'Princeps XYZ'. They go on most away missions. Then theres the 'Optio XYZ' who had originally filled out his roster but kinda get left to the side now. Then i gathered up more unique boffs and made them 'Scholae XYZ' characters in MACO armor. They are my heaviest hitting boffs and go in for the big fights. Finally the Intel boffs you got from the Delta Operations Pack are 'Exploratio XYZ' He's maxed out in Intel specialization so they work as his 'undercover' away team when i feel more like tiptoeing around then shooting the place up. Its all really quite cool, if abit confusing!

Most my other characters all have matching uniforms with their boffs but nothing really unqiue like these two.

Now that's quite the a military approach to it, lol. And making BOff version of your non-main characters on your main character is a cool idea.

My main group of BOFFs are made up of my Alts. As in I made my boffs as close to my alts as I could. Partly for RP/story reasons, and partly because then I can pretend I have an actual fleet working for me.
Cheers from Antonio Valerio Cortez III, Half-Celestial Archduke of the Free Marches Confederacy.

I have an engineer who is designed to look just like the Strekellans from the made up Cryptic aliens that were encountered in the old exploration missions (primarily in the B'Tran sector). It was part of a story I had going on with my main involving that sector. And all of his BOFFs were at one point aliens that looked like Strekellans. (He's since incorporated some of the special BOFFs into his full roster). And he flies a Nicor bio-ship as part of the story too (that came much later).

My science alt has a mostly Saurian crew.

Other than that, I have a couple of BOFFs on my main that have been with him since day 1 and are part of the backstory. But no real theme.

Using the BOffs that have been with you from the start is a theme, Friendship ;P

Coming from a RPG background, all of my ships and crews usually follow that line of thinking rather than min-maxing or Boff Pokemon.

I've got at least one of each of the three factions that use versions of the original levelling Boffs (as in the same name and my original edited appearances copied to improved grades of Boff as they become available) as the main crew. Rest of my crews are as close to "faction-correct" as possible. No full SRO Romulan crews outside of Romulan ships etc, no none-faction personnel where it's not thematically appropriate e.g. my two Orion crews have several mercenary/criminal types in tow courtesy of the doff diplomacy rankings and such, both my Reman ships have all-Reman crews but are stuck with a RRF liaison officer (GET OFF MY SHIP TOVAN !!!!).

Other than that, I've a handful of old "decommissioned" player characters reborn as Boffs here and there. Mostly because I've gotten good results from the character creator for those ones, sometimes because it'd fit the profile I had in mind for them.

Always a pleasure to meet someone who follows the canon :) None of this anti-proton this anti-proton that, lol.
