So i heard that the TOS race of salt vampires as they are called, i think there also called species M - 115 or something?
is in the game and there is an accolade for killing them too.
only way now to get that accolade would be through foundry missions containing the salt vampires, as the mission "Mine Trap" was removed from the game at the start of season 11 new dawn, and you were close, they are designated as species M-113..
No, they're not called species M-113. That's just the name of the planet, or the designation of the planet since it's not much of a name. The creature wasn't given a name in the episode.

lol they need to update a lot of things on here then ...... rather sad.
do the Vamps use weapons or are they more like animals that just charge at you and melee you?

Was a reason for this ever given?
Now, food for thought. As I recall, the creature seen in the episode apparently found Vulcan (and, perhaps, Romulan and Reman) blood salts unpalatable... yet here on this colony we have a population of them who definitely lack this problem. If we take the episode's creature as the baseline for the species, then the ones encountered in 'Mine Trap' are a variation which is either naturally occurring, or someone's idea of a macro-scaled biological weapon. Assuming for plot purposes the latter - after all, there is/was at least one party with the motive and means to create such a thing - the investigation into it could've been fodder for an optional mission strand...
Actually it's apparently a Tal-Shiar mad science experiment in living weapons. This is the same colony where Hakeev used to have a secret hidden base.
By the way those aliens also can make you look like them for a short period of time.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
The creature was based on the 'Coeurl' from A.E. van Vogt's short story, Black Destroyer.
If you have never read Black Destroyer, find it and read it now. It is one of the very best science fiction short stories ever written, and it was van Vogt's very first one. The first few paragraphs are poetry written in prose, and is a true masterpiece of writing which would have been enough to place van Vogt on the best writers of all time list, even if he had not subsequently written so many more stories that Black Destroyer got lost in the mix.
Why are you still reading this? Go find Black Destroyer and read it now!
