Starting a joined trill character

HI all.

Been playing for almost 5 years now and thought it was time to start a new character. I want to make a joined trill Tac but the option is shaded out on the character gen screen.

Do I have to buy the playable joined trill from the C store on an existing character first or make a new toon then buy the playable joined trill from the C store?

    I got that but buy it with my existing toon or the new one after I've set it up?

    Buy it with your existing toon, and then create a new Joined Trill.

    Or, edit: You could even open the C-store while on your existing toon, keep that tab open and log off to the character creation screen. I think the C-store screen will remain open and you could thus buy it while not being logged on on a specific toon.

    I'm not so into trill myself I prefer Humans and Andorians when I want badass. B)
