    No.

The outcry from when T5U & T6 ships came out, was enough. If the devs truly want to end the game, then sure, go right ahead...

If they think they can make money by reselling you the same ship with a bit more HP and 1 boff seat and console space for 35 bucks...they will...without a level cap...in a heart beat.

They released ships with a bit more stats in the retrofit and the fleets and made everyone pay more...and it worked. I suspect that when the T7 comes out, they will just make it require level 60 like they did with the retrofits. So yeah...no, the game is not setup for each tier being every 10 levels. Or instead of the T7, maybe they will call then T6 retrofits...so we can have two messed up tiers.

    ^ All of this.

Also, they started out with a 500 Zen increase per Tier pricing model, but then moved to a 1000 Zen per Tier pricing model increase with Tier 6 (100% increase) so if they followed the same stepping model- we'd see a 2000 Zen per Tier pricing increase, which is ridiculous but since they've already implemented it there's a pattern.

As for "power creep", with the introduction of the Tier system from inception it's always been there. Had they implemented a different system, it may not have been an issue- but alas, here we have it. Without a complete game revamp of systems, all they're going to be able to do in the future is introduce higher level content with more Tiers to counter it.

Personally, I'd love to see a system revamp- but I'm not holding my breath. I think it would behoove them to get rid of the "Ship Tiering" system in favor of adding upgrade-ability to base hulls on ships, so that it's more sustainable both for the players and the system itself, but that wouldn't make them ridiculous amounts of money. What I mean by this is you could literally use a Light Cruiser hull for "end game" content- the modules or traits themselves or the additions you purchase to increase survivability would be your target rather than flashy new hulls.

In actuality, the current tiering system is not sustainable- eventually they're going to reach a point where people are no longer going to whip out their credit cards and buy new ships. It's already gotten to the point where you'd spend the same amount on a ship as you would a new game.
It's not you- it's me. I just need my space.

Being critical doesn't take skill. Being constructively critical- which is providing alternative solutions or suggestions to a demonstrated problem, however, does.

Not sure where you are getting this from...but they don't NEED to do any such thing. If they think they can make money by reselling you the same ship with a bit more HP and 1 boff seat and console space for 35 bucks...they will...without a level cap...in a heart beat. That is what they are SUPPOSE to do as a buisness. The thing is, they know that doing that will hurt them...like DR hurt them...probably worse actually. This poll shows that pretty clearly.
The game is set up in such a way that Tiers are every ten levels. For there to be a Tier 7 you need to be able to level up past 60. In other words, a level cap raise.

While this is true for the first 40 orginal levels, it is NOT true for T5 and T6 ships. You can use T5 ships as soon as level 40. Now the T5 retrofits needs you to be 50 as well as the fleet versions and certain other T5 ships...like the scimmy. T6 ships can be currently used starting at level 50 and will scale as you level up to 60. And the reason that the T5 is a mess of level requirements is precisely because they did what I said.

L1 = T1, L10=T2, L40=T5. So, having access to some T5 ships at 40 is... level appropriate...

However, your stated "releasing ships with messed up requirements" does also hold true, to wit, the old T5+1s and some of the C-store fleet-grade "T5.5" ships are capped at 50, and you can actually jump into a decent handful of T6 "Event" ships at least as low as 40 - I think I have at least one alt who's done just that...

Now, for the "progression" to hold true, Cryptic would have to issue a "freebie" T6 at L50 - which would be the staging point for the release of T7... Because, as I posted earlier, having the "really true F2P newbies" stuck in a T5 till they can grind out an event ship would be... shall we say "epic fail" for new player gathering in a T7 world?
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

There's no need for T7, just as there was no need for T6's. Content is still playable with lesser ships. T7 is 2 years away minimum, and I wish that people quit making threads about this sort of thing when we've still got plenty of upgrading to the current T6's to come!

Get the Kumari, D'kyr, D'Kora, Wells, and Mobius to T6 instead of T5-U. Then you can start thinking about T7, but just thinking not actually doing it.

I think they jumped the gun with the introduction of Admiral and Fleet Admiral. What is higher up than Fleet Admiral, President? Great we'll all be running around as presidents. They should have stopped at Captain. That's where all the action and content is. Not to mention replayability of past episodes. Reserve Admiral ranks for Fleets. Yes it would turn those ranks into social ranks but that's befitting the responsibilities of admirals.

It would be a dumb move if it happened so soon after Delta Rising.

A nice feature would be interchangeable bridge set-ups with some form of requirements, perquisites and several limits to keep each ship in their respectful "positions".

No, pretty much everyone else summed it up best as to why .

The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life." - Ten Bears (Will Sampson)

you will not see T6U's until cryptic bring in T7 ships and I cant see that happening any time soon especially as they made allowances for T5 ships to be upgraded on the premise that they didn't want players to loose out on their T5 purchases, bringing in T7 ships and T6 upgrades would be sure to make T5 ships even less useful then they are now and then all that would happen it the end is they would have to increase the hit points of enemy NPC ships to compensate so you would be no better off for having a T6U or T7 ship then you are now with a T5U or T6 ship.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Cryptic still has plenty of ships that they have yet to T6 and, like others have stated, T5 was the golden standard for quite a long time before T6 was actually introduced. When T6 was introduced, people were not happy with it. Considering T6 has only been around for a year-and-a-half or so, making T6U or T7 ships would just be them jumping the gun a couple of years ahead of schedule, and would cause more trouble than it would be worth at this time.

So no, no T6U or T7 ships. There shouldn't be any for a while, because I guarantee you that if they start popping up at the end of this year I and many others will start to reconsider our friendly relations with STO.

**** A loud, angry, wallet closing NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

While I GRUDGINGLY shelled out $30 for T-6 ships THAT is where I draw the line The simple fact is how many times can you PAY for basically the same ship? Take the Galaxy ( because its my personal favorite) There is a T4,, a couple of different T5's and a T-6. While the difference between T-4 and T-5 was pretty significant,, T-5 to T-6,, well,, wasn't. More hull, extra console slot, and different boff layout. what would T-6U be? Another console slot for basically $5? and don't even get me started on T-7!!
The ONLY way I would even CONSIDER T-7 is IF the new Star Trek Series in 2017 Rolls out an ARMADA of new ship designs, not JUST for Starfleet, but for KDF Romulan, and some of the other Normal Trek Races, and by some shear act of craziness Cryptic puts those designs in the game. BUT,, even THEN those ships would have to have SOMETHING about them that sets them apart from the rest. I don't want an " I win" Button on my ship,, but perhaps the not mentioned in several years " BROADSIDER",, or something COMPLETELY different,, yet not absolutely balance destroying. NO I don't mean simply another BOFF specialty either. PERHAPS,, the ability to CHOOSE boff seating when purchasing the ship ( Never happen,, but one can speculate) although this would, perhaps, cut into " mega-bundle" sales,, it would be something a bit different. However, even with all that being said,, I don't think I could make myself pay $35 for pixels and not something REAL. The ship levels are perfectly fine the way they are, imho.

Well I was thinking of T6U as a way for them to add an extra console slot and a bit more hull. I think T7 is a way off. It would probably involve too much work. They could do the T6U for almost no investment other then deciding where the console slot goes.

It has not been as long as people think between upgrades that add console slots. From the games start 2.5 to 3 years till the fleet upgrade added a slot. Then what 1.5 years till t6 and fleet added a slot. It's been 1.5 year since then. So by that logic another slot upgrade is due sometime this year? I might be a bit off on the cycle?

Anyone has doubts that it won't come?

What we would need new tier of ships for?

T5 kept top place many years, T6 tier is little more than 1 year old - so it's fresh and strong :p

Seriously - the moment the T7 ships will show - it's the moment i stop play.

I see the phrase t6u but hear 'I want moar dps nao!!!'

Imagine what do you think you can do with T7 that has the usual:
    - Next tier statistical improvements
    - 14 BOFF skill Slots (13 for T6, 12 for T5)
    - 12 Console Slots at T7 Fleet level (11 for T6/T5U)
    - Likely new forms of power creep that only T7 ships could use (i.e. Specialization only with T6)

It would be hilarious to see, considering how a T4 ship can still do quite well in this game and T5 hasn't skipped a beat.
