Trying to figure out how many skill points to put in Defensive Maneuvering. The skill states that you can never reduce hit chance below 25% (i.e. can't get more than a 75% miss chance) for your ship.
I have no idea how much bonus defense is necessary for me to achieve the max miss chance on my ship. For example at full speed I have 73% bonus defense, but what does that translate to as miss chance?
What does bonus defense actually mean?

Your Defense needs to exceed your attacker's Accuracy by 300% or more for them to have only a 25% hit chance. Keep in mind that 300% Defense will not guarantee you to be at that 25% cap, as your attacker's Accuracy is likely to be more than 0%.
I'm guessing you put something in there to prevent problems when Acc-def = 1.
Does the same hold when targeting small craft?
I'm having a heck of a time targeting those iconain probes. I seem to miss way more than 75% on them so I'm wondering if the caps are different.

What do you mean it Still equals 1.....
It is my understanding that that is globally true, and testing vs a Borg Heavy Plasma Torpedo has that holding true.
Thanks for the reply. It is hard to try and work out what 3 points in Defensive Maneuver (15%) actually equates too. But it sounds like it isn't a significant amount. I'll have to parse it a few times to see what difference it makes to miss chance against me.
Scotty: But captain 1 to the infinite power is STILL is one!
Kirk: Bones?
McCoy: Dammit Jim I'm a doctor not a mathematician!
Kirk: Chekov?
Pavil: I can do this. Vhat ve need is vun Moore.
