It clearly says that it will be available "From March 3rd at 9:00AM PDT to March 24th at 10:00AM PDT"
I go in the launcher and it says it is down from 6am-10am PDT for maintenance. Why are they so misleading, I only needed 1 more to complete the project, now I have to wait an entire year to do it again? This is outrageous, the event should continue for another 4 hours after maintenance is finished.

It's always been this way as far as I know. The update effectively ends each seasonal event when the game come's back online.
You did cut it a bit close to be honest.
I'm not sure how long you have been playing the game, but it always has maintenance on a Thursday.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
that's assuming breach is going to be a regular event of course.
you can still use any free slots for other projects they will be made available when another event come up.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
the special rewards don't increase as it gets closer to the end.
You mean people should get bigger rewards for waiting before completion?
Why would they? The queue rewards already scale with difficulty and are decent enough; not to mention that the "real reward" comes as a rather hefty lump sum at the end. With the amount of dil inflation recently (aided by the relative ease of obtaining it from the admiralty system these days) increasing the rewards futher isn't really neccesary. Just IMHO though, feel free to disagree.
not all of the rewards.
We've discussed this already. We still don't have 100% certainty on that claim, and won't have it until some point during or immediately after this year's summer event.
Stop trying to scare people into prematurely cancelling their projects. There hasn't, and never will be any reason to cancel an event project unless you don't want the reward anymore. When the project can no longer be completed, it gets auto-canceled, as was the case with old event ship projects during the past year. If and when that changes, Cryptic will make it very clear to the playerbase.

If the server comes up early (it frequently does) if you start the Event queue before the posted deadline, but finish it after, do you get the reward? Do I have to slot the "Special Project"* before the 10 AM PST deadline, or will having the doohickey, if I get it, allow me to slot the project? Should I slot it before I run the queue if I'm able to make "one more run"?
So many questions...
...which, in just over 20 mins, will be moot until the next event...
*The project that unlocks after you completed the event
Ah, my mistake. Still, while it might be nice to be able to have a way to ensure even late comers can finish the project I doubt Cryptic would want to allow an avenue for people to shorten the number of runs they need. (As there would be those who would come late just so they don't have to do two weeks worth of runs. Something, after slogging through the Breach event I can't entirely blame someone for desiring, but would still probably be bad business for Cryptic.) In the end though, at least projects can be finished the next time around as, so far at least, they haven't decided to make the "mini-event" vouchers expire.
reward like the choice of marks item box. but get the choice of
reward so some of us can finish off the old event projects.
suggest this instead of my previous comment.
that wont happen, as players do the event after the main prize is awarded for bonus runs of 2k dilithium plus marks giving extra tokens at the end of the event would only end up with these players gaining even more extra dilithium and mark bonuses for each extra run they do.
stop putting words into my mouth, I have never encouraged anyone to delete an unfinished project, they don't need to do that cryptic will do it for them, if I am correct.
all I am doing is relaying the rule that cryptic have made, if they change their minds about this great.
EDIT:
BTW I will continue to inform other players as often as the opportunity arises until I see an announcement from cryptic that they have changed this policy, the more players who are aware and prepared that this is a extremely real possibility will be less players that will be upset by the fact that their projects are deleted or at the very least uncompletable and you or anyone else other then cryptic themselves has no right to forbid me from doing so.
EDIT_2: BTW I also just noticed that you didn't have a pop at this guy -
even though he is basically saying the same thing as me, so why are you singling me out with your wraith.

That, and hoarding tokens for future events would be a lot easier.

indeed it would, and we all know where that could lead.

We do, sadly... we do indeed... it will only lead to one thing. And one thing only...
eeeck! I've gone blind.

Sorry, @maximusdecimus88 but there probably isn't enough time. Summer event almost always begins at the start of June (Give or take a week at most.) They won't run another queue event so soon after the last, and then we will be up to the April 12th launch of Season 11.5, which will have a approx 3-4 week featued episode. (Again, I am almost certain they won't run a queued event during a FE run.) After that it will be May and very close to whatever TOS themed thing is apparently happening on May 5th. (According to the 11.5 trailer.) If that too is a FE of some sort (Possibly beginning the tie in to the 50th) that will run right up to the beginning of June and Lohlunat. So, the best chance for another Mirror event is probably the beginning of August, that is if they don't do a Crystalline first for some reason.
As a side note, I am pretty sure they did a Mirror Event in fall 2015, that 2014 one was acouple events ago. What is the reward on the one you are holding onto? The last event's was a Mirror Universe Agony Rifle. (A unique one unrelated to the ones now in the lockbox.) I'll check to be sure though.
EDIT: Yep, the last Mirror event was November 2015, and the one before that was November 2014. So the March 2014 one was actually two events ago.
