Suggestion for Unique Advanced/Elite Queue rewards

The queues have been something of a hot topic lately, so while I was looking at my new awesome ship card from the new event I was suddenly struck with an idea!

Quite a few people feel unique rewards are needed as an incentive to play the highest difficulty queues, so how about we give them just that?
Rather than some piece of unique equipment which could significantly affect ship builds and harm the balance of the game and make things unfair for other players on a competitive level, how about a chance for the Queues main bosses as a rare Duty Officer or Admiralty card drop?

I mean seriously, there are a lot of great bosses I would love to add to my rosters as a collector and shoot for, and they would not take terribly much development time to create like a vanity outfit would.
I'm kind of thinking...

Ground - Legendary Duty officers
Manus of Borg
Armek of Borg
Tosk of Borg
Borg Queen

Space - Legendary Admiralty Ships
Borg Tactical Cube
Assimilated Carrier
I.R.W. Valdore
Borg Queen's Octahedron

Those are the most obvious ones, then of course we have queues like Korfez which could reward the VSW Implacable etc.
This would give people truly unique rewards to shoot for, and an incentive to play ALL the queues and not just farm the easiest ones for marks and dilithium.
There could even be some newbie friendly cards to collect by tying the Siege Breaker accolades to reward a Flagship Admiralty card, and maybe sprinkle some Doffs for the bosses around the Voth and Deferi battle zones.

Now I do think "legendary cards" should be drops from Elite Difficulty only, but for the time being a lot of the queue's don't have elite versions.

Sounds like a nice idea :) I approve (so does Neelix).

Ha, that's a pretty cool idea.

I'd suggest that they would have to be in the reputation system too, albeit super expensive (1000-2000 marks) because RNG can be cruel sometimes. I love the idea of having something rare to 'hunt' for but back in the day before reputations i must have run CSE 150+ times and NEVER got the bloody engine to drop!

Well, some games actually have a system that ultimately guarantees you the drop if you an instance often enough, or at the very least greately improves drop rates beyond a certain threshold.

Allthough today 150 runs of CSE is nothing. :P

Now if we could only get the elite versions of popular content back.

Be careful of what you wish for...

I post this warning because as soon as "Advanced/ Elite" begins to reward anything more than "barely more than what you're getting in normal", the entire playerbase immediately designates themselves "advanced" or "Elite" - even if they're still in their Miranda with Mk I everythings...

And if you put the item(s) in rep trees, what's stopping these ardent ISA farmers from buying, say, KAGE's reward?
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

To rob a line: [quote: Mariemaia Kushrenada] Forum Posting is much like an endless waltz. The three beats of war, peace and revolution continue on forever. However, opinions will change upon the reading of my post.[/quote]

I think they tend to do that anyway (especially for Borg rewards), so won't make much of a difference.

    Don't have anything to add.
    Just like the idea.

I had idea about how to put the RNGods into their place. X amount of runs would give you the reward.

They will just come here and complain that the elite content is too hard, much like they did with advanced. Many seem to think they are entitled to play everything without learning game mechanics and investing in equipment.

I mean the forums raged when they changed BHE so you had to keep the idiot alive, saying it was unfair that elite content was no longer possible when it just meant you had to be halfway competent.

Chance to drop: Absolutely no. Reputation project, whatever the cost ends up being, Yes.

Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.

    I like that idea!

Instead of a chance to drop I’d rather make them like accolades work.

Play Infected manus 100 times and get your epic simmons doff. :p

Oh man, I’d love that. Just the way I love how the op only points out borg STF. B)

And that would completely defeat the entire purpose of the suggestion and make it pointless.
The idea is to get people playing all the Elite and Advanced Queues, not just farm the easiest ones like ISA over and over again like they already do.

Honestly I think a chance drop with guaranteed threshold is actually the best approach. Just locking it in at say 100 runs of Infected manus would make it an ordinary grind. But if you have a chance drop, every time you run the mission can potentially be when it pays out, making the runs a bit more exciting.
