Advanced Escort Set- worth it?

sovereign010sovereign010 Member Posts: 641 Arc User
I already have the T6 Hestia and haven't had any issues with it, but I do not have the Multi-Vector Advanced Escort. Is the multi-vector assault mode (and associated set bonus) worth going for? The ability is cool and all, but is it worth the 2,500 Zen price tag? Or would I be better off putting that Zen towards getting the T6 flagship pack?

The 10% bonus energy damage and 2.5% crit chance seem pretty awesome, the only sticking point is the 4-3 weapons layout. Because I already have the pilot escort set, in theory I can get 25% more forward damage simply by virtue of the extra forward weapons slot. Also, because my Hestia is currently packing DBBs the pilot escort set bonus doesn't apply since it only works for cannons and turrets.

The last time I saw that ability used, was some point last year, and the the AI that controlled the other two sections was terrible. So much so that one of them set a course for the edge of the map and didn't look back. The second simply ran into a core breach and practically got it's self vaporized. My advice save your zen for some thing else, and save the console slot that MVAM would take up for something far more useful.
Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

that bonus does not apply because pilot modification consoles can only be fitted in pilot escorts.

as for multi-vector assault mode - can't tall for sure as personally I haven't used it, but from what I'm hearing AI of other vectors improved a little but still is not the smartest around

The AI of those pets did get a slight upgrade so they at least follow you and engage your targets though they're still pretty useless. Their "firepower" is not worth mentioning and they're dead after the first AoE attack, the only redeeming quality would be that they also use the firebringer but that's way too situational to be of real use.
Basically both consoles are a waste of space even with the T6's subpar passive and the set bonus.

That's what I meant for the pilot escorts, I only use the pilot consoles if the ships are packing cannons as the set bonus is the only thing worth having about that set. As a result I have some toons running the Pilot ships with DBBs, others DHCs.

The plasma expulsers, from what I can see would be as deadly to small fighters as eject warp plasma. What I should have mentioned is that I exclusively play PvE.

The only reason to use the MV console is for the flight handling changes by using one of those modes, even then, that can be a vastly different playstyle that most will not favor. Not for the separation units because they die the moment something looks at them. Not for the 2-piece bonus, because it's spectacularly mediocre.

If you don't want the different flight characteristics of one of the MV modes, you're better off equipping none of the Prometheus set consoles.

It's a very cool effect and will add some variation to your playing style. The 'shiny effect' consoles are rarely worth using if you're concerned about dps. However, if you make a decent build you will have some leeway to use 'fun abilities' and they will make the game a lot more enjoyable. Why would you even fly different ships if they'd all be built the same way, with just basic dps-based abilities?

As for the MVAM console itself, the previous posts more or less sum it up. The vector ships aren't too useful, but the speed and turn buffs are. You can replace them pretty quickly though, so you could just view them as 'mini frigates'.
