Annorax should be in a lockbox key crate. Agreed?

Almost no one wanted R&D packs, and they are now even more worthless thanks to Admiralty.

I'm guessing not many people wanted the doff pack either, which is why Cryptic picked it to prop up its sales.

But imagine if the chance for an Annorax was tied to something most players DO want: lockbox keys. A crate of 4-5 keys with either bonus lobi or an Annorax. That would be a pack we'd want to buy in bulk.

That's an interesting proposal. I'd guess that it would reduce the price of Master Keys on the Exchange, just like often happens to non-wrapper R&D and DOff packs, from people only caring about the main chance, not other chances.

    That's an interesting sales pitch.
    I'd drop a 50 on those in a heartbeat.

Keys would go down in price, Annorax might dip below a Bil.

The Dil/Zen exchange would skyrocket to 500/1 ... (Which doesn't bother me in the slightest, since I'm not a Zen buyer)

Would they ever do it though is the question... That's a very different marketing approach then what they're accustomed to.

Of course, but how much money are they leaving on the table by tying a desirable ship to a pack not many want?

I might buy a doff pack or two, maybe. I could easily see myself buying $50 or more worth of key crates.

Interesting idea. I remember when they did the JHAS with the DOFF packs, my first pack had one inside lol couldn't believe my luck just sat there dumbstruck for a few minutes before laughing manically.

I wish the Annorax had been released another way, lobi, lockbox, Z-store. Anything but doff pack lotteries.

My issue with the DOFF packs is that barring an extra special space ability I have absolutely no interest in obtaining more DOFFs. I haven't really been bothered about new DOFFs since I completed my last DOFF assignment chain. The fact that the pack includes the likes of Talaxians, Ocampa, Kazon and Malon is just icing on the cake (at the risk of sounding speciesist, they're just lame all round).

With the R&D packs at least I would be guaranteed on getting something that I have some use for, even if I don't luck out and win a ship or whatever other rare goodies are on offer.

I'd guess the odds of someone at Cryptic taking notice are only slightly worse than for opening 1 doff pack and getting an Annorax ;)

How are people suppose to control the ship market if you increase the ability for everyone to get the ship?

The delta packs have some very desireable active doff powers so theres a buck to be made on those as well.. The crtd/crth energy weapon or projectile abilities in particular. Not sure why theres so much hate for these packs theyre way better than the romulan survivor ones all those had that were of particular interest were random borg doffs

I like DOFF packs, myself. Still have lots of toons with green doff trash that needs replacing.

I like the idea of Admiralty card packs, but there are some problems with that.

    1. Replicating existing reusable ship cards could impact ship sales, giving you less reasons to buy a given ship or buy ship slots to open them.
    2. Reusable ship cards in this system are unique, meaning you never have more than one of that card. That would mean that at some point there would be diminishing returns on buying a pack.
    3. One-shot cards would be possible, but they'd need to include a lot of them to make it worth it.

That said, they could make a killing on card packs if they had a few special reusable cards, a bunch of one-shots, other factions's ship cards, extra pass tokens, and added an event card mechanic that would let you play special event cards that modify assignments in your favor somehow. They could improve rewards or offset the effects of negative events. Some card packs might even award a ship reward box, like a mirror ship or one of the standard buy-with-dilithium ships.

They could try some mirror card packs. the mirror Danube/guardian are separate entities from the regular forms.

I'm disappointed at how quickly they've bought the packs back...they waited MUCH longer with the last pack ship. I tell you, I've got one left over from last time in my bank and I'm holding it in reserve, in case there's ever a ship I want more as an exchange...but bringing it back does worry me about the rarity and price.

Obviously I'm pretty content having gotten an Annorax during this promotion, but the reason I was willing to try at all was the Zen-to-lobi ratio was pretty good while the Doff packs were on sale (220z for 10 lobi) and I have captains that can definitely still use some of the blue-grade crew coming out of those packs.

If you buy it for what you know you'll get, you won't be disappointed.

This. even if the rate was something like $40, and even if it was a one-time purchase rather than an account-wide unlock, there are people (like me) who would rather spend that amount of money for a sure thing. WoW has already taught me to hate RNG and loot gambling. If you put that behind money instead of TRIBBLE-low droprates, I'm out.

Besides, the doff packs are way too expensive for the (almost-literal) TRIBBLE they contain. The lobi inside is arguably more valuable than the doffs. :P

Sounds like you have NFI about what you're saying. This pack contains some of the most sought after DPS buffing doffs/traits in the game at the moment.

Not to mention the scramble fighters / radiant nanite "I'm invincible with unlimited heals" PVP cheese....

Almost no one wanted R&D packs, and they are now even more worthless thanks to Admiralty.
You know that R&D packs still go for 2.5m each on the exchange right? Hardly worthless.

I'm guessing not many people wanted the doff pack either

MANY people want the doffs and traits that come from that pack, how else are we to get supply of those if no one opens the pack?
But imagine if the chance for an Annorax was tied to something most players DO want: lockbox keys. A crate of 4-5 keys with either bonus lobi or an Annorax. That would be a pack we'd want to buy in bulk.

And I want a guaranteed ship win for every lockbox key I use....next wishful "I'm a gambling addict and want something for nothing" fantasy please...
